I completed my first build about a month ago. For information purposes and so that you can understand my problem a little more i will give an overview of my build Here is an overview of the build: Intel i5-4690k NZXT h440 NZXT Kraken x41 Asus maximus VII hero AMD r9 390 2 corsair af120 fans 3 case fans etc etc So my build is actually working pretty great except for one annoying problem. When i first booted up my device i had my pump plugged into the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard and it was working fine. Some hours after that the pump stopped coming on and none of the pump fans would work. To fix this problem i plugged my pump into the CPU_OPT header which as i understand is simply an option cpu fan header for dual pump setups or something of that sort. I also plugged one of my corsair AF 120's into the CPU_FAN header and it was working fine. So i figured i'd leave it as that an not really investigate further. Fast forward a couple weeks and all of a sudden the corsair stops spinning. The odd thing is that previously when my pump stopped working i would get a CPU FAN ERROR message when booting stating that my pumps and pump fans were not working. This time however i done get any message at all, meaning the pc things the fan is spinning which is really odd. I'm fairly knowledgeable in computer building although this is my first custom build. I have checked the obvious like for example i know its not the fan because when i use another header or a fan hub that comes with my case the fan works perfectly fine but when i plug it into the CPU_FAN it doesn't spin. Another thing i should mention is that i know it received power because the fan is an LED fan and the led comes on. To sum up for those who rather not read that long description: 1. My CPU_FAN header worked fine at first but after a while it stopped powering the pump 2. I switched the pump to the CPU_OPT header and it is working fine as we speak. I added a corsair AF120 to the CPU_FAN header and it worked fine for 2 weeks 3. The Corsair stopped spining but the LED is on so it gets power. Also i get no CPU_FAN error as before with the pump so the pc thinks the fan is spinning 4. I tested the corsair AF 120 and the fan is working fine in other headers and a fan hub on the case 5. I cant find the reason why the cpu_fan header is giving problems. Anyone care to help? So basically is my CPU_FAN header the problem?? do i need to change a setting or something or an update. Anybody with a problem on their CPU_FAN header as well?? I've no idea what to do. Normally i would accept some sort of defeat by just saying the fan header is the problem but since everything on the mobo is fine id get a splitter and set up my fan but this is the CPU_FAN and it needs to have something plugged in or else everytime i boot the computer it shows me the warning CPU FAN ERROR.

I want to use the Swiftech 8-way PWM Splitter-SATA I have these fans but they are different RPM! 1xCPU QF120: RPM 330-1600 3x Akasa Apache black 140mm: RPM 600 - 1300 How would this work? Has anyone of you deal with a situation like this? Would it be fine?

so, I recently got a all in 1 water cooler which is great and I love it. Only problem is, I put it on my rear exhaust and the radiator is blocking a spot where I wanted to put another exhaust fan on the top of my case. should I get a fan that's smaller then 24mm (or whatever the standard for a 120mm fan is) or should I move my radiator? also fan recommendations in general, preferably with blue LEDs and 120mm.

I currently have two corsair intakes (silent) one corsair out-take (silent) and two cheap cheap (£5 each) blue led fans as additional out-take however my pc now sounds like the behind of a 747 Airbus. Any decent QUIET case fans? (UK please) EDIT: Found these are they a good option? http://www.quietpc.com/gel-silent12

Right so I have this set up: Case Corsair 650D case 3 Pin Front Intake fans 1 x 200mm 1 x 120mm Corsair SP (static pressure) quiet edition, at the front in the optical drive bay to cool my hard drives (via some modding) 3 Pin Top Exhaust fans 2 x 120mm corsair AF (air flow) quiet editions 3 Pin Rear Exhaust fan 1 x 120mm corsair AF (air flow) quiet edition 4 Pin CPU fan - Mounted on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo 1 x 120mm PWM corsair SP (static pressure) quiet edition The front intake, top exhaust and rear exhaust fans are all connected via the built in fan controller of the 650D case. They are also connected with the low speed adapter included with all the corsair fans. Obviously the pulse width modulation (PWM) of the CPU fan will control that as needed. I have multiple questions so here it goes: Does this fan configuration sound good for cooling? I've tried to balance both intake and exhaust. Does it matter what speed the (non CPU) case fans spin at? I've reduced the speed via the low speed adapter so the fans are quieter. The built in fan controller of the corsair 650D case only has 2 pin headers. What does this mean? The case fans are all 3 pin, and I've tested them in both the motherboard and the built in fan controller. And on the motherboard the 3 pin headers are much louder than the 2 pin headers on the built in case fan controller. Thank you for your time that is all.

Hey there, So about a month ago I bought a new Cooler Master Nepton 240M AIO cooler for my system. It's cooling a Xeon E3 1231-V3 on an Asus Z97-K motherboard. This is a great performing cooler and is advertised with silence. I've heard great things about the Silencio fans which come with the unit, though mine are not so silent. When the fans reach a certain level of RPM's, a VERY audible rattling noise can be heard. I have confirmed the issue to be with the fans and not the pump simply by blocking the fans when the noise was present. As the fans were blocked by my finger, thus causing them to not spin, the noise stopped. I pull my finger out, the fans spin up and BAM... noise. It's worse than a baby playing with a rattler. The fans are both connected to the PWM splitter that came with the cooler. That splitter is plugged into the Chassis_1 fan header on the motherboard, right next to the CPU fan header. I have tried both push and pull configurations with the fans on the radiator and there was no difference. The noise has been appearing ever since about day 3 of owning the cooler. Is there an easy fix to this? I really don't want to have to take the cooler back as it is a MASSIVE inconvenience. My Build: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/PJpnYJ EDIT: The problem with the fans has been fixed, but there is a similar, yet significantly less audible, rattling noise coming from the pump.

Hey everyone, was originally going to make 2 different topics for this but did otherwise. I am having some issues with the fans in my case, not the CPU fans or GPU fans, just the case ones. I have 3 intakes and 1 exhaust with 2 exhaust radiator fans blowing air through the radiators and out the top. I knew that my case "NZXT H440" had a fan splitter included BUT I wanted to be able to control my fans from Asus' Fan Xpert software. So, I hooked up all of the fans into the spots on the motherboard and so on and they power on and everything BUT the UEFI BIOS only shows 2 or 3 fans out of the 4 (not including radiator fans because they work fine) I am not sure if it is me wiring them incorrectly or a defective motherboard/fan outlet. I wanted to speed up the fans because they are surprisingly quiet, and if I can get a bit more airflow that would be great. Thanks in advance and if there is any additional info required please let me know.

Hi, I am planning to get new fans to replace the stock ones in my Corsair Spec 02. I am choosing between the Bitfenix Spectre (not pro) no LED version and the Cougar Turbine CFT12SB4. I do not know which one is better as they are both decently quiet. These are the only fans that I can afford on my budget. Please tell me which one is cooler (pun intended). I will be using them as case fans. Thanks.

Hello all, So yesterday I finished my PC build shown below and I've noticed that my GPU sits at around 40 degrees idle, this seems quite warm considering it is not doing anything. CPU: i5-6600k Cooler: Phanteks TC12DX_WT Mobo: Asus Z170-A Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8GB DDR4 3000MHz Storage: SanDisk Ultra II 960GB SSD GPU: Sapphire R9 390 Nitro 8GB w/ Backplate PSU: EVGA G2 650W 80+ Gold Extra: NZXT Hue+ What cooling set-up do you recommend for case fans in the S340? I currently have the two 120mm exhaust fans installed and that is all. My PSU is taking air from the bottom of the case and I don't have any fans in the front as intake... should I? If so, what would you recommend? High static pressure? High speed? I don't want loud fans, and preferably white (or black) to match my black/white theme. Many thanks, Cameron

Hey guys, I am really close to finally having everything ready for purchase (for my PC). However, I am now stuck on 1 thing. The case that I'm using is the CM Storm Trooper, and from what I've seen, its default fans are pretty bad. So i decided to get 2 new front fans and am struggling on the following: I am using a 980ti hybrid and don't know where to mount it. I don't think I can put it at the top because then it will get in the way of my Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler. And I don't think I can put it at the bottom because then something with the pump will happen and its not recommended. So my last option is to put it in the rear slot of the case and set it as an exhaust. However, if its exhaust won't hot air be going through the radiator of the 980ti thus making it have hotter temperatures? I am really stumped on what I should have my fan setup in my case be. If you can, tell me where i should have all my fans and radiator setup based on what i said above. thanks

Question is in the title itself. I have a pretty big airy case (CM HAF-XM) and I doubt the 3 200mm fans on the top and front do anything much when my CPU sits at 30 degrees (i7 3770-K) most of the time. Plus turning off fans means i don't have to clean my case filters as often as I do now I have a Asus P8-Z77 V PRO motherboard which does come with AI suite II. But I scared to reinstall it as it messes up a lot of things in my PC. Plus I can't even seem to find a proper link to download Fan Xpert. Is there any other alternative easy to use software where I can set custom curves? Or do I have to get a dedicated fan controller? Thanks for the response.... EDIT: I guess if i need proper control i need a hardware controller. How is the NZXT Sentry 3 5.4-Inch Touch Screen Fan Controller. This is one of the few things that ship to Dubai (UAE)

Hey guys like 8th post so again, don't kill me if I don't know what "intake" is lol (i do) So I am planning on a future build and I have almost every part set out perfectly EXCEPT the fans and I am really confused and would appreciate some help in this matter I know you need like a plan to see where you want the fans to bring cool air in and where to push hot air out but that is too fancy 4 me and I don't know where to start My future specs: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($523.00 @ CPL Online) CPU Cooler: be quiet! I'm building a new PC in the coming week, and I'm trying to optimize my cooling while staying as quiet as possible. I'm going to be running: Core i5 6600k : I'd like to overclock this past the stock speeds, not sure how feasible this is with my CPU cooler Coolermaster Hyper212 EVO: Very well reviewed and inexpensive, will this be enough for moderate CPU overclocking? EVGA P2650W PSU MSI GTX970 4x Fractal Design GP-14: These are the fans that come in the case, I purchased 2 more. I'm not sure what my optimal setup is regarding the case fan placement. I'm thinking maybe 1x Front intake, 1x Bottom Intake, 1x Rear Exhaust and either 1x Top Exhaust or an additional 1x bottom intake on the onboard fan controller. (Which I think only controls one fan. If it's multiples, I can do 2 intake 2 exhaust and set the exhaust fans to a lower rpm). I want to be able to overclock this machine while keeping it relatively quiet. What's my ideal fan placement setup?

Hello Again, In my previous post I mention I have a Asus x99 Delux Motherboard. Which to me is very sexy in its White coating and I also have a Corsair Graphite 600T(white) Case. So together it makes a perfect combination. Orginally I was going to build with a asus x99 Rampage Vi and a Casmos case which would of been even better but too expensive anywho. my issue now is My case has a fan controller. but I don't know where entierly I plug them into.. Do I plug them straight into my motherboard? cause I cant connect them to the fans I have since they're both female connectors. My motherboard does come with a extra Fan card but what would be the order of it or how would I put this together? So I saw this case fan on Newegg http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242033&cm_re=prolimatech-_-35-242-033-_-Productand it seemed very interesting, only 15mm, super quiet at 8db if you turn it down or 18db at max (or so they claim) and an astonishing 98cfm air flow. Does anyone have this fan or have experience with this fan? I want to know if it really pushes the amount of air that they are claiming or maybe they got the units wrong or something. Thanks

In a nutshell, I am building a gaming PC that can run all games on max setting in 1080p. However, I will also use this PC as a workstation for my college needs. Plus, i want the PC to have low temps and be very silent. Can you guys give me feedback on this build I made with any suggestions on reducing the price? Or is it ideal for my needs with the lowest cost possible? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kmtDFT

So I need help with picking some fans for my Design R4. I've got the two stock fans currently (one as intake, one as exhaust). I've removed the top Hard Drive cage and moved the fan up to the top front slot, but its still restricting air flow because of the filter and the door on the front. So, I was thinking about getting 2 static pressure fans, and moving the stock one to the top as another exhaust. I need pointing in the right direction, as I dont have a whole lot to spend, so Noctua's are pretty much out of the question. I've heard good and bad about Corsair's SP fans, and the whole thing seems confusing TL;DR: Need help picking good, cheap-ish Static Pressure 140mm fans

Hey i am planning to build my very first gaming pc soon. i have already purchased the case which came with 3 molex case fans. Can anyone help me find a way to control these fans as i don't want them to be running at ful speed while idling. I've been doing some research and can't find any clear answers. can i buy a fan controller somwhere which accepts molex case fans. Or something which will do the job. Thanks

In the process of cleaning my PC and I realize I should change the front fan on my case since its the stock msi one and isn't very good or quiet. Im going to swap it for a corsair led fan (since this one is currently led and I like the look) but I'm not sure if I should get an air flow fan or a static pressure fan. I know static pressure fans are good for radiators and other restictive air flow areas and since I have this meshing on my front panel as well as a thicker dust filter if a static pressure fan would do better in this case rathan than an air flow one. -Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys, how's it going? I am planning a new beast gaming build to do intense gaming on and also do everyday work. I have chosen my case, the Define r5 seems like the best out there regarding pros and cons. (other than NZXT H440) I need some help choosing an AIRFLOW setup that will cool my gpu and cpu and other components inside the case. I have put together a document to show what I am thinking about right now! It is attached to the topic, please check it out and criticize me! Thanks! Air flow setup.pdf EDIT #1 So ok I still have 2 fans exhausting at the top and 2 fans bringing cool air in from the front. To save some money I might use the 120mm included fan for the rear next to the cpu cooler to remove the air from my CPU cooler. I also added an extra fan to cool my gpu at the bottom since my card is VERY hot Here is another terrible diagram

Hi, i'm making a build with the Define S, and I would like some recommendations for front case fans. I do know that the Define S is aimed toward watercooling, but seeing as it's cheaper, and I don't the optical drive bays, or the hard drive bays. Thank you! http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MtrThM

Im still relatively new to building PC's but made my own 6 months ago. Last night i downloaded and tried a new game "Warhammer 40k Dark Nexus Arena" which is still in its beta stages, and got a massive heat spike on my graphics card. (about 65-69 degrees celsius while on the games title screen only. I contacted the developers about this) The below image is what my PC usually runs when not gaming. After that i decided i wanted to upgrade and add on a few more fans to my case. Currently i have the following CPU fan: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125494 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182188 Tower Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147184 At the moment i have only replaced the stock CPU fan with the "Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO" fan. everything else in my case is stock (3 of the 120mm case fans, 1 on the rear, 1 at the top, and 1 on the front) In total my case always has 8 fans running, and i think my heat dispersal is just to inefficient to deal with the amount of heat i get sometimes (1 power supply fan, 3 case fans, 1 CPU fan, 3 built in graphics card fans). So im looking for any recommendations on some of the best quiet and efficient fans meant for a Gaming PC. i will mainly be looking to replace 3 of the 120mm fans and add on a 140mm fan (i do not currently have a 140mm fan, nor any fan mounted on the side of the case). Any and all recommendations are appreciated, also it would be nice if these fans were blue LED fans, but thats not a mandatory thing for me. Thanks in advance for all the help. Also links are also greatly appreciated.
