Whenever I use my storage drive (Seagate Barracuda 4TB) and sometimes when I don't it just doesnt appear as a drive in my system while being physically connected, the only way I have found to fix this so far is to keep restarting windows until it works again, which is extremely annoying. Something also seems to be clicking, most noticeably when the drive Isn't being recognized (doesnt show up in task manager, anything that was running on it crashes, and it disappears from file manager) I dont get any sort of error code but it doesn't take a genius to figure out something isnt right, heres a video of my system with the clicking sound when this happens: Here are my specs: Windows 10 Home OEM 64bit Gigabyte F2A68HM-H AMD Athlon X4 845 Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 + 4GB DDR3 (no meaningful markings other than 4GB DDR3) MSI Gaming RX470 4GB KINGSTON SV300S37A120G (OS Drive/SSD) Seagate ST4000DM004 (Storage Drive/HDD) <-- This is the thing thats disconnecting EVGA 450B 80+ Bronze 450W PSU That should be everything, if I'm missing something, tell me!

I'm not very techy but I know a fair bit. Trying to help a friend troubleshoot her new HDD. We've tried a lot of Google searches with no luck. She doesn't have an OS as of yet. But that can't be the issues if the HDD doesn't even show up at all in the first place. We get to the BIOS but from there I'm as lost as she is. All the images I have are below. My current form of communication with her is texting so if more pictures are needed I will try to get them. We're both a bit treading in unknown territory so try running us through this as if we're 5 years old or Michael Scott from the office.

Hello, I built a Gaming PC a while back and I got brand new parts except for one, my hard drive. I originally built this PC because i had an issue with updating any sort of drivers and not being recognised as an Admin even though I was. When i built my current PC i noticed that I have the exact same issue as my old PC did. I cant update my AMD GPU driver, i cant update my XINPUTt driver when using a controller, things like that. I thought about this for a while and realised that my HDD was the only thing that i didn't change from my old PC, I have a Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD. I was wondering if this is the reason that I'm having this issue. Is this because of the HDD and if so can you recommend a good 2TB HDD that i can get that doesent have this issue? Thanks

I was using a Seagate Barracuda 1 TB (mechanical) hard drive for the last two years, and it started to fail last month. As such I used my warranty and had it replaced. However, when I received the replacement drive (which I noticed was a "recertified" drive). Unfortunately after plugging it in and restarting the drive did not show up, however after scanning for discs in the "Disc Manager" it showed up so I formatted it and started to use it. However after trying install a game (via Battle.net) the drive just disappears and only shows up after scanning in Disc Manager. I've tried to use new SATA cables and plugging it into different SATA ports on the mobo. Any ideas on whats going on? Thanks.

Hi, I am going to get a samsung evo 850 ssd to use as a boot drive and was planning to get a 2tb seagate barracuda ST2000DM001 for games and storage. I would like to know if this hdd is good, because I have seen that they have a high fail rate, but I also see that many people use them and recommend it. Also it is cheap thank you very much

Hello. I am in need of buying a new HDD drive for storage, and this very moment there is a sale on the seagate barracuda 2tb on 78 euros in my area. The wd green 2tb costs about 90 euros, and the toshiba-hitachi around 84 euros. What choice would be the wisest, since i have heard things about a higher failrate on the seagate side than the wd? I currently have: 120gb samsung 850 evo 1tb wd caviar blue 3.5 inch 7200rpm 64mb cache 1tb wd caviar blue 2.5 inch 5400rpm 8mb cache (ripped out of my laptop to add a kingston savage ssd 250gb) 500gb wd caviar blue 3.5 inch 7200rpm 64mb cache

Whats up LTT Members! I have an older Seagate Barracuda firmware V.7200.11, And I want to know if theres a way to fix it. It's a SATA HDD. When connected to SATA power, the HDD does not spin up. there is no sign of burning, or busted chips. It seems like the PCB board does not give power to the HDD, and I want to know if there is a way to replace the pcb. This is a pretty nice fix if I can, It's 500GB, which I need for a new budget build. Thanks in advance guys! (*NO STUPID/OBVIOUS QUESTIONS! INTELLECT REQUIRED TO ANSWER!!*)

so I was originally planning on buying an MX100 to start with my new PC, which would mean it will store the OS and whatever other programs I'll be having (like video editors). but I just found out (very lately) about the news of the new MX200 and thought that if I wait until it releases then maybe I can get the MX100 for even cheaper. if that's the case then I'll just buy a Seagate Barracuda first and configure everything to it, and by the time the MX100 gets cheaper I'll buy one and transfer everything I need to transfer there. I just wanna know if this is a difficult thing to do, and also if you guys think the MX100 will drop its prices at least by July?

I am building a new system and for the hard drive I was originally going to go with Western Digital, because I prefer them over Seagate. But after realising Seagate's Barracuda drive has the performance of WD's black drive and at the price of WD's Green drive the was really no choice for me. So I went to my favourite pc part retailer "pc case gear" and searched for Seagate's barracuda drive and picked the 4TB model (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=22816&cPath=344). In the end I copied the model number and found it on CPL Online because they were cheaper and then I purchased the drive. The very next day (today) I realised that the is no 4TB barracuda drive. The drive is from Seagate's "desktop" series of drives which are much slower and not what I wanted, even though pc case gear specifically states that it's a barracuda drive. They also have very similar model numbers; 4tb desktop drive - ST4000DM000. 3TB Barracuda drive - ST3000DM001. CPL Online didn't say that is was a barracuda drive which is good but their website is slow and hard to navigate so I pasted the model number from pc case gear in to CPL Onlines search bar and added the drive to the end of my cart, only checking the model number was right. #feelingverydisapointedandrekt

Hey, just to let you guys know. There are actually 2 variants of seagate's 2TB Barracudas, which claim to have 2 1TB Platters. These 2 variants are offical ones, by the way The first variant, left on the picture below has 1TB platters, which is higher performance around 190MB/s Which the second on the right has 666GB Platters, With performance of around 144MB/s Source: http://technewspedia.com/the-confusing-2tb-seagate-barracuda-7200-14-st2000dm001/

Hello, I want to put 2 seagate barracudas 1TB in raid 0, but when i go into my bios i don't have the option to put them in raid. i have an msi b85-g41 which supports raid 0, and im not sure why im not getting the option to raid. they are differnt types of drives, but are similair enough that they should raid. also i have a kingston hyperx <a _sp="p2060778.m2749.l2649" data-cke-saved-href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/181514996837?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT" href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/181514996837?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT" class="vip item-title" title="Kingston HYPERX 120 GB,Internal,2.5" (sh100s3b="" 120g)="" (ssd)="" solid="" state="" drive"="" itemprop="name" style="color: rgb(106, 41, 185); text-decoration: none; line-height: 17px; font-size: 15px; position: relative; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif;">SH100S3B 120gb and i got a really good deal for 53 dollars. i want to get another 120gb ssd, but i can't find another of the same model for below 200 dollars. can i get another 120gb ssd and put those two in raid 0?

Hey guys. So, I have 2 1TB Seagate Barracudas which were until recently in a RAID 0. I decided to take them out of a RAID 0 through my motherboard's on-board RAID controller. Now that I did that, there is a bit of an issue. Neither of the drives are working properly. This is what I get when I try to initialize Disk D. When I do the same to Disk E, it asks me to format (but I haven't done so yet) And while Disk D registers as the right capacity, Disk E is registering as the capacity of the now dissolved array. Help!

I'm looking to purchase a new 1 tb HDD and don't know which to chose. They both are regarded as on of the best drives. However, I don't know which one is better, faster, reliable, etc. Which one would be the better one to purchase? Please give any experience that you may have with either of the drives. Thanks.

I decided to pick up a Seagate Barracuda 3TB today because it was on sale. When I installed it in my rig it was only showing 349GB available so I decided to follow this guide on formatting the drive: http://newmeridian.wordpress.com/2011/11/25/external-3tb-hard-drive-size-not-detected-formatting-shows-only-349gb/ After following the steps the drive was stuck on "formatting" for over an hour and now it simply shows up as "new volume" (see pic) and can't be accessed! Is there any way to fix this or am I out of luck here?

Hey guys, I just noticed this weird chirping/ whirring sound being produced by my 2TB Seagate drive. This has been happening for a few months now and at first I thought it was just vibration and used to get rid of the sound by tapping the top fan on my casing. So just now when I heard the sound I tried the ol' "tap the fan to destroy sound" trick and it didn't work. :O So I turned all the fans off (except the CPU fan and PSU of course) and tried to identify the exact location of the sound. Lo and behold it was coming from one of my hard drives. So I powered down, disconnected one (the seagate), booted up and used it for about 20mins - No sound. I powered down again, reconnected the seagate and as soon as it powers on the chirping/ whirring starts again. :( Is the drive failing? I've read online that the chirping could be caused by APM. So I downloaded this-> https://sites.google.com/site/disablehddapm/ but it doesn't seem to work. BTW I've been using the drive for about 6 months. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
