So there was an exhibition where at it a government organisation presented a pc build it was horrid the Hard drive and cd drive bay were held in place by what seemed to be 1/4 inch drywall screws, the only reason i am being a bit tough on them is because the organisation is made to teach skills, like carpentry and such and one of the skills is Pc building and i assume this is the best one they have and thats why they presented it, and in any case ( no pun intended) if they wanted to use the clear case, they werent limited, because it was mostly standard ATX they just needed some proper screws and an atx power supply and do a little cable management and it would look less janky idk what do you think about it. ( pictures attached ) -ps sorry for the multple run on sentences

Hey, guys this is a pc I built a few months back for my old company. I know it’s not what you typically see on the forums but I thought I’d share it. We needed a rugged field test computer for data collection on our lawnmowers, and didn’t want to over-pay something like a toughpad. I am a mechanical engineering student finishing up my Jr year so I offered to combine my passion and trade. My goals were to make a durable element resistant pc of under $1000. Like I said the computer would be on a lawnmower in an incredibly dirty and dusty environment with moderate vibrations. I mounted the motherboard on vibration isolators and attached the pelican case to the mower using another vibration isolation system. I used waterproof cable pass throughs to run the cables to the outside of the case. Since the pc needed to run on a mower it needed to be powered off 12 volts. I thought about getting a 12v pico power supply but found that Opus one I purchased had some delayed shutdown features I wanted to data collection, and it could boot the pc when the mower was turned on. After assembling the pc and mounting it on the chassis I ran a lot of tests on it. I heated the ambient room to 45°C (113°F). After running prime95 max heat test the CPU hit a max temp of 69°C and the max temp inside the case staying at about 52°C. This was a little too warm for my comfort but this test was worst case scenario. I do wish I had the chance to test water-cooling but unfortunately I decided to leave the company before I had the opportunity. I also wasn't sure how AIO liquid cools do with sub 0°C temps. Case: Pelican 1400 - $69 CPU: Intel i5-6500 - $190 Cooler: Noctua HL-12 - $86 Cooler Fan: Noctua NF-F12 -$25 Motherboard: Gigabyte -GA-H110N - $75 Ram: Kingston HyperX Furry 2x4GB - $60 Storage: Kingston 240 GB M.2 - $100 Power Supply: Opus DCX6.360 (360 Watt) - $170

I can't say I have an amazing rig, I really dont. However, it runs what I want it to run. It is an extremely old PC, with a pretty outdated GPU. I'm not really the huge tech type of person but have always wanted to get my hands on....More.. I might be wanting more than I need, but anything is helpful. If anyone can look at my rig and make any suggestions? I need to refresh my entire PC(wipe everything), because my CPU always peaks at 100% and makes even smaller games like minecraft almost unplayable(I play with mods, so Its no surprise, it runs, but has its moments). Now heres the kicker, anyone know where I can get some PC items for cheap, but are obviously worth getting as well? Anything would help. I'd also accept any hand-me-downs Not that that would happen. Meh, pity me, or don't. I don't play too many PC games but the games I do play I have to run on pretty low settings. Thanks everybody! ASTROWOLF-PC.speccy

TL; DR: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S warranty repair service gone horribly wrong, BAD experience is an understatement. Avoid Lenovo IdeaPad products at all costs. 15+ phone calls total (so far, including calls to managers), warranty-system transaction glitch caused initial delay, 5 repair tickets opened, 2 repair-center send-ins (waited almost a month the second time around), HOURS on the phone arguing with technicians, all my data was erased, Windows downgraded from 10 to 8 and the laptop is STILL not working today. Aug to Nov 2016 struggle (and still on-going). Typical Warranty Process: * Call Lenovo. * Go through trouble-shooting. * Submit a claim. * They ship out a box to you with prepaid shipping (return-box). * Put the machine in the box, drop it off to FedEx. * Wait on the repair. * Receive repaired computer through FedEx. Simple right? Okay... keep reading. Time Line of Events: * Nov 2014 - Machine purchased (Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S). * 2015 - Extended warranty purchased. - Extended warranty was NEVER applied to the system by Lenovo, they said their system glitched. * Aug 2016 - Machine breaks down (no longer boots). - After 3+ weeks, 6+ phone calls, many emails, HOURS on hold, the extended warranty was finally applied to the system by Lenovo. * Sep 20 2016 - "Claim 1" submitted (warranty claim). * Sep 24 2016 - Return-box arrived, I shipped the machine. * Oct 13 2016 - Machine returned. - HDD was erased. - Lost my free Windows 10 upgrade, now back to Windows 8. - Boot issue fixed, the machine now boots into windows and no longer gets stuck on the Lenovo logo. - Machine does NOT charge anymore (stays at 5%), I tried 3 different chargers including a brand new one. * Oct 17 2016 - I call the repair center. - I was instructed to perform a motherboard software refresh. - I did all the trouble-shooting the representative suggested, no luck. * Oct 18 2016 - "Claim 2" submitted. - Waited a week, no return-box showed up at my residence. - Called over 8 times (once every couple of days) to request the return-box be sent to me so I can ship back my machine, no luck. - Spoke to managers on at least 2 occasions who promised that the return-box will be sent the day I called, still nothing. - I was promised to get emails containing shipment status, got nothing. - I kept calling and repeating the same stupid cycle. * Oct 31 2016 - "Claim 3" submitted. - This was done after so many tiring phone calls. - Representative said it's best to close the current ticket and start a fresh new one, I agreed. - "Claim 2" is now canceled. * Oct 31 2016 - "Claim 3" was canceled by Lenovo ON THE SAME DAY! - Later that afternoon, I noticed on the repair status page that "Claim 3" is canceled. - Flagged as a duplicate, the representative told me when I called them raging. - Representative creates "Claim 4", and said "We had to close Claim 2 and 3 properly so that Claim 4 is not marked as a duplicate again". - The wait for them to ship me a return-box continues. * Nov 2 2016 - No return-box yet. - Called the service center every other day to check on it, I even offered to ship it to them on my own expense. - I was told multiple times that the return-box will ship and an email will be sent out to me, one rep even promised to call me back with an update the same day (it never happened). I got nothing. - Later that day I called and asked for a manager and he said "The previous representative didn't do his job correctly in opening "Claim 4"". - "Claim 4" is now canceled. - "Claim 5" submitted (by now, I just gave up). * Nov 7 2016 - RETURN-BOX ARRIVES! YAY! - I packed the laptop, sent it out the same day. * Nov 17 2016 - Repair status on the update website said "If you haven’t already heard from a Lenovo Support Technician you can schedule a callback by visiting www.lenovo.com/contact. ". - Obviously I haven't heard from anyone so I called the service center and they told me they cannot put back Windows 10, they will only restore Windows 8. - The lady LITERALLY said "If you don't accept Windows 8, the tech will just re-pack the laptop and send it right back to you without any repairs", I thought that very rude and unprofessional IMO. - I accepted the fact that I lost my Windows 10 free upgrade and now I'm back to Windows 8. - They advanced the repair process (To fix the battery that is NOT charging anymore). * Nov 25 2016 (today) - Laptop arrives! YAAAAAY! - Not so fast ... THE THING DOESN'T EVEN CHARGE NOR BOOT! IT IS LITERALLY IN WORSE CONDITION THAN WHEN I SENT IT IN FOR REPAIR! ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE. - IMMEDIATELY, I called support, now they escalated me to "customer relations", I'm expecting a call next Monday or Tuesday morning (I will update this thread). Sigh... Alright guys ... I don't typically write rants or bad reviews of anything unless it is absolutely deserving, and this time, I think we'll all agree that my experience was (is) horrible to say the least. I'm not saying the employees were bad, in fact most of them were nice (except the mentioned above). However, the level of incompetence is beyond anything I've ever seen. How can they tell me (or print on paper inside the laptop package) that the computer is FULLY TESTED and QUALIFIED when it doesn't even boot or charge? Not a SINGLE LED lights up when it's plugged in, it's literally dead! Didn't someone try to plug it in? How hard is it to power it on and go through the first few screens to verify that it is functional prior to shipping it back to me? I don't know. The first time I shipped it, they asked me to ship the machine only, the second time I shipped it with the charger as instructed. They supposedly inspected both. I also don't understand how can their ticketing system be so bad to where a return-box took almost 1 month and 4 tickets to ship. Why didn't the representatives respond to me via email or phone calls when they promised they will? How can their warranty system NOT apply the extended warranty I purchased to my serial number? It is just beyond astonishing the amount of things that went WRONG with this transaction. I wish I never bought the machine. I've owned ThinkPad products in the past and I have purchased several for family members and friends, however, this is the first IdeaPad product I own and I think it will be the last. I don't think Lenovo holds IdeaPad products to the same level and standard of service as their inherited IBM ThinkPad line of products. I've claimed warranty on my 2010/2011 ThinkPad W510 before, it was AMAZING, they came to my house and fixed it on the SPOT! Why don't they treat their other products the same way? I'm very disappointed. What sucks even more is that this IdeaPad laptop isn't my personal machine, it belongs to my mom. She had intentional travel arrangements made on October 19th and needed the laptop with her, I thought sending the laptop in for service 1 month before her 6-month long travel plans would be ample time to get it repaired .... I was wrong. Now the laptop is still here with me, not-repaired and she's long gone on her trip. I will update this post as I hear back from Lenovo's customer relations department. At this point, I have no idea what to expect.

I have an AMD FX 8350 4.0ghz 8cores, 8GB of ram, a 980DE3/U3S3 R2.0 mobo, Tacen MARS 800w PSU, and a Sapphire r9 280x vapor-x tri-x and I really have bad perfomance on CS:GO mostly, on the rest of the games I have more or less the performance you should get with my pc. Also, I cannot use the 100% speed of my CPU since it overheats and restarts my computer (and that didn't happen at first when I assembled my pc in February), I did everything I could (cleaning the entire pc, changing thermal compound on CPU, updating bios and reformating my pc [Haven't touched any of the settings from the BIOS tho]. I dunno what to do.

I have been having connection issues for about a year now and I was wondering are these results typical for cable connections? I also just reset the modem and router so all this information should be unaffected by the days and weeks it has been running. Thank you, Pixelbolt

So today I went to buy a one plus 3, and I have so far no had the most pleasant experience. It started out and I select the one plus 3, put it in my cart, put in my address all the while ignoring the 3 WEEKS to ship. However, upon going to enter an American Express, it wouldn't accept. Fine, whatever, I go to my visa. I place the order and guess what, there has been an error with the payment. I go and i "checkout" multiple times under the same order number so I don't get fined multiple times, and it won't work. I call them up, and I tell them everything and they were no help. They asked me so many questions I had already answered, but they kept on saying "24-48 hours. The website told me the order wouldn't even be processed if I didn't pay. I guess I will wait for the 24 to 48 hours and see however I do not think it will change much.

Hello, I require some assistance with an issue i'm having: The problem that's occuring is that when I record any form of gameplay the audio quality sounds horrendous. However when I switch my output device to "digital output" the quality becomes 10/10 crystal clear but I am unable to actually hear any sound from my speakers seeing as it's not meant to work that way.How would I go about fixing this? i have reinstalled the audio driver multiple times now. Below is an attached example System: Using a Lenovo y50-70 laptop that's running windows 10(64 bit), latest BIOS.

So not necesairely in terms of raw performance, if that was the case then id say my FX5500, but rather in terms of just shitness. Shitty performance for your money, crap cooler, didnt live up to expectations, whatever! il start out with mine: For me its probably the R7 M350 in my school laptop. this is a GPU that performs worse then a GTX 660M, and the 660 is definatly enough for low or medium settings 1080p for a lot of games but the 660M is a total pice of crap. the 660 dekstop card has a nice 960 cudacores and a 1033MHz boost from NVIDIAs door, the 660M has about 600 less cudacores, drops the core frequency by 200MHz and half the memory bandwidth... yah and this M350 i have? performs on par or WORSE than this pice of absolute garbage NVIDIA put out ages ago. good job RTG, well played, you made an absolute turd that draws an unspecified amount of power... AMD refuses to hand out a TDP and no testing of this has been done from what i know, probably more then the 50W the 660M draws though lol. I would probably have been just fine with this card if it wasent for the fact that its a laptop with a 1080p screen and was hyped up to us students as something capable of playing games at native, every other year has a ~720p screen and roughly as powerfull or better(im unsure what the first years actiually have, would guess something like a 940M or pascal performance equivlent ) anyway id love to hear your stories about this and your motivations as to why its the worst graphics card you have ever used!

When I started up my computer, it said: Sec Slave Hard Disk:S.M.A.RT. Status BAD, Backup and Replace. Press F1 to resume. I have more than one hard drive and would like to know if this would only show up if it is on the hard drive with my OS. The failing drive is my Seagate drive, and the healthy one is a Western Digital. What would you recommend doing? I don't know if my Seagate drive has the OS on it.

my laptop's hard disk has bad sector. i know that because when i check my drive's health from third party tools like EaseUS and AutoHd they show bad sector are present on my disk. and i have also verified this by running in bios diagnostics which show the same results. the problem is that when i run check disk utility on that drive windows reports back no error found. what can i do in this situation.few points to keep in mind: - bad sector are at very starting sector no 4,5 . - my System is still booting up but hang up for apparently no reason for some time even at idle. -Bois Test also showed that cpu temperature was 103 C hence it was thermal throttling. I have the Extreme 150 package and on speedtest.xfinity.com I get about 170 Down and ~13 Upload. Just 3 days ago non-stop to now, whenever I try to start streaming my bandwidth to twitch or youtube goes down the drain. I have a Xfinity Arris TG682. I've tried restarting my modem, changing ethernet ports, and updating drivers. When I stream my connection to everything else is fine, I just lose bandwidth.

So i tried to find a fix online but it seems that there are a lot of people that cant get the copy paste function to work. And it seems to be a problem that exists since at least 2007. Can anyone here help me? And should linus still advertise for this if synergy cant fix this and becomes rather useless except for the mouse and keyboard sharing?

Hey there, I've had my XPS 15 for a while now, I'm quite happy with it, but I was not with the audio Drivers Dell shipped by deault. "Waves Maxx Audio" was unbearable, so I removed the driver and installed the default Windows Audio driver, following a guide I found in the Internet (not sure if it was Reddit or LTT). After that I had an issue where the headphone jack would pop on max volume every time I adjusted the volume or played music after a while which was bothering me even more. Now I reinstalled the Dell drivers and the audio sounds like it's coming out of a garbage can instead of my Bose in-ears when I plug them into the headphone jack. They sound fine on my other devices but this one. Can somebody please help me with this, I've been searching and searching, but haven't found any solution yet, and I can't listen to music or videos on my laptop via headphones which is bad whne I want to watch vids while oding homework but my roomate wants to sleep. Thanks in advance, Fredi

So I'm a competition management system for a certain sport, which will support a variaty of different scoring software packages to communicate with. One of the requirements of this system is that it will be easy to use and cheap to use. The system should work for very small competitions and bigger ones. So I want to see if it's possible to make an online solution which can also work in a offline situation, why you ask? Well this system has to run in all kinds of different venues, some of them have very crappy or even no internet at all, so the system shouldn't be reliable on internet to function. But on the other hand in a small setup it would be nice if it could work just online so people don't have to install anything. So my idea is to have different "roles" in the programming and have RESTFUL API's commuicating with each other between these roles. each role can function online or offline and you just need to configure (or it will be done for you probably) which IP it has to communicate with. Now for the bad idea, I want to program this in php because of the high database dependacies and because I know php pretty okay. Another reason is because most webservers allow for php and i don't want to be restricted in which host/server is used by using for example node.js and finding it's not supported. So the question I want to have a php script running on a desktop. This is not that hard, i found solutions like "php desktop" which can do this. But preferbly I also want my code not to be viewable. Does anyone know for any licencefree/free applications which can be used to do this propperly?
