I currently have a GTX 550Ti and i'm looking for an upgrade. However, since I care about the aesthetics of my setup more than the performance, I wanted a GPU with the Titan reference cooler. It would be optimal if I could SLI and use Nvidia's new LED SLI bridge but only if it fits in my budget. <_< Keep in mind, even though I care about aesthetics more, performance is still a big factor. I'm hoping to play Witcher 3/Borderlands on ultra/high settings, I run two 1080p monitors and occasionally movies on my 1080p 43" TV. I don't overclock or anything like that! I am in no hurry for an upgrade but hoping Best Buy doesn't cut off the reference GTX 770s anytime soon. So far my possible options are (in my budget): - SINGLE GTX 980 (~$650) - TWO GTX 770's SLI (~$350 each) - how long do u think it'll be until they're off the shelves? - *crossing my fingers* for a reference (Titan) cooler release for the 970, just like the 770. Would be my first choice and would also SLI these, but worth hoping/waiting for? So far the obvious choice (to me) is the two 770's in SLI. But I was wondering if the performance of X2 SLI GTX 770s would be powerful/"future proof" enough to handle what I do for about 3~4 years (optimistic). I do not play games with crazy graphics (Battlefield, Crysis, etc.) maybe i'll try out Titanfall? I was hoping you guys would be able to give me some recommendations on other sick looking GPUs, I really dig the Titan cooler and was thinking of painting the silver parts white. Or if you guys know of any other Nvidia cards with the Titan cooler. Thanks!

Hey ! Just been comparing the gtx 770 and the brand new gtx 970 and saw that the 970 outperforms the 770 in everything but the texture mapping units with the gtx 770 at 128 TMU's and the gtx 970 at 104 TMU's. Not sure if this is a big difference but I want to use either one of these cards primarily for gaming and video editing. Thx for the help !

so originally i wanted to get an ASUS STRIX GTX 970 in my PC build. But they're never in stock. So i need help to figure out which gpu to actually get now. And when the Strix is going to be in stock. thanks

I have the EVGA GTX 770 Dual Superclocked with ACX and whenever I run the Valley, Heaven, or Firestrike benchmarks, my 770 always reaches 80 degrees C on the highest possible graphics settings for each of those benchmarks (also, nothing is over-clocked in my system). And it is only 77 degrees F in my house at the time of these latest benchmarks: Valley: FPS: 44.1 Score: 1846 Min. FPS: 22.1 Max. FPS: 85.6 Temp. at the end of the benchmark: 79 C Heaven: FPS: 36.2 Score: 912 Min. FPS: 14.8 Max. FPS: 85.9 Temp. at the end of the benchmark: 80 C Firestrike Score: 6902 Max. Temp: 80 C I also think my FPS/scores should be higher as well. Anyway, are these temps/scores normal for what I have?

I currently have 1 GTX 770 with the Gigabyte Windforce cooler. For my birthday in a couple of weeks I am getting my third monitor, a Asus VG248qe, which runs at 144Hz. My 770 currently plays the games that I have at about 80 fps, which would not be enough to use up my soon to be new monitor. I have the NZXT. H440 case. I am wondering about what to do: 1. Get another 770, but what cooler? or 2. Sell the 770, but where do I sell it and what new graphics card should I get? I have an additional $300USD to spend for the upgrades. What should I do?

Hey guys, first post here on the forum! I've been watching Linus for a loooong time though, but I just didn't need to make an account until now. So here's the thing. My 650Ti is getting old, and now, with 3D rendering, gaming and stuff I feel like I need a huge upgrade. I've got roughly a 600€ budget (quite flexible though), and since I've been planning on this for long, I was pretty much decided on buying 2x Gainward GTX 770 Phantom, in the 4GB version, basically because of the cooler design. The reason I wanted to take 2 770's over the 780 was mainly memory, since I want to have as much as possible (I deal with really heavy 3D scenes, and as of today, my 650 can't even load some really high-res HDRIs, not to say ultra-detailed models), because 4GB on the 770 was really good for the price, whereas I'd have to go 6GB on the 780 which was quite too expensive, and if I'm not wrong, 2x 770 can beat the 780. But now, with the new 9xx cards, I'm not sure how exactly the game's been changed.. So, even though I could browse through info and benchmarks (which I've actually done already), the opinions of other people are invaluable, imho. So, yeah, I'd be glad to see what you think. Essentially, I'd like to know if it's worth waiting for the newer cards, and if yes, which ones. Thanks in advance, Velstyde PS: The perfomance to price ratio is really important to me, but I'm a bit biased towards SLI because when I bought my mo-bo and PSU I spent the extra money so that it could run SLI.. so I'd like to have that actually used. Also, AMD cards are not an option, since I use Blender and it only supports CUDA rendering.

So the GTX 770s are going down in price a lot with the MSI 770 going for $240.00. My question is should I go with that or save up and extra $100 and get a 970. I am currently on a budget so please list pros and cons and what you would do. Thanks!

So the main focus of my next build is to get 144hz (FPS) gaming for an ultra smooth experience, while on ultra settings. Also its a budget build so keeping it as cheap as possible at the same time. I knew to do this I would have to go SLI because even a titan black, which is more than 2 770's, can't do 144hz ultra gaming. So I settled on the 770 because it's nvidia's sweet spot card, where it has high end card specs, at closer to a mid range card price, anything lower would not get me the performance I'm looking for, and anything higher I wouldn't be able to afford. So my question is is those who have SLI 770s, or know of their performance, is what I'm aiming for possible? Also when I say ultra, I don't mean ultra, ultra, my idea of ultra is mainly just ultra textures, particles, lighting, effects, and I don't really care about anti-aa, hbao, or basically any unnecessary post effects. From my experience those post effects affect frame rate the most, and most benchmarks online for 770s in SLI are just all the dials cranked up to 11, but thats not what I want to do, so these benchmarks aren't giving me useful info. So again what do you guys think about this setup? Just for those wondering my other specs will be: 2 Reference 770s (mostly for the bling factor), i5-4670k, Gigabyte Z87 SLI supported mobo, and 8gb gskill 1600 ram. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Edit, wow completely forgot to mention a few things: it's only 1080p performance I'm looking for here, for most games I can settle for a min of 120fps, and for cinematic/single player focus games I can settle for anything really above at leaset 90fps, I really just want the performance for competitive games, mostly battlefield and few others.

So I'm buying a GPU for my system, and I have narrowed it to the GTX 770 and the GTX 780. I can afford both, but with the 780 I will have to cut my SSD and some RAM (but I already have 8GB, so I am fine with waiting) until I can afford it later on down the line. To help me decide, I want to know what the real world performance difference is on 1080P, ultra settings on games like BF4, FarCry 3, Borderlands 2, Metro LL, etc. (Basically the most popular titles ) Would I just be better off just getting the 780 and having the most balls to the walls gaming experience, rather than skimping out now so I can be "done" with my system earlier? The main thing I don't want to run into is buyer's remorse where I wish I had just saved my money for that little bit longer and gotten the 780, rather than rushing and buying the cheaper card.
-
Basically what the title says. What your opinions on these two configurations. What do you think is better value, or which will handle next gen games better Thanks Fluffy

Quick question as I can't seem to find an answer. will 770 waterblock fits 680? the one I have is Asus' directCU II 4GB 680 I'm thinking of integrating it into my loop as the current card is starting to bend due to weight D:

Greetings! So as many people, I am waiting for the ever so popular GTX 780 LIGHTNING. So until it comes, i was thinking of getting a GTX 770, question is, which one? The 770 Lightning is a true beast all itself, but is there anything that competes with it? And would it be so worth it to wait for the card?

In a week or so i am planning to upgrade from a crappy GTX 550 Ti SLI to a better gpu My currect specs are I5 2400 3.1 ghz P8P67M pro 8 GB DDR3 1600 mhz GTX 550 Ti SLI in a Define R4 case with a 620 PSU broze So which one between these cards should i get? MSI GTX 660 TI Power edition OC GTX 760 or a 7950 vapor X boost OC and then there is the EVGA 770, which i don't know if it's worth the extra 200$ it costs in israel. the rest are at the same price point, if not the 7950 is abit cheaper. With that, i need silent and cool operation, my case doesn't have the best cooling, but if it would help i can add water cooling for the cpu so the air within the case won't heat up.

I literally just joined to ask a question about the same two cards as: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/37924-hd7970-3gb-vs-gtx-770-24gb-1080p/ , but the 7970 vs the 770 4GB for exclusively 1440p resolution. I'm not going to be doing a great amount of gaming like others do but will be doing some from week to week @ the 1440p resolution. I will though be doing lots of HD playback (most of it in 1080p though, which will be a breeze for either of these cards). I understand I need more vRAM at the higher resolution of 1440p.. I saw a video benchmarking the 7970 and the GTX 780 side by side and the 7970 was weaker by a margin but the price is also a much greater value. But, I am not sure how the GTX 770 4GB will do compared to the 7970 Ghz edition for both the GTX 770 4GB and Radeon 7970 (3GB) have a greater amount of vRAM compared to the 2GB. Any opinions!? Please note I'm also striving for the one card solution. SLI or Crossfire is too much for my knowledge as well as money for my purpose of using 1440p. Sure Xfire or SLI is nice until it runs out of vRAM at 1440p I would think that the 3GB version of the 7970 is enough for my purposes but considering the 6GB version of the 7970 by Sapphire Tech has the extra 3GB of vRAM and is just $50 more expensive than the GTX 770 I was going to get, I'm swayed towards the 6GB version. Any opinions/advice?

I have a tight budget, and i really want a graphics card from NVIDIA/MSI. So what do I do? I want to play at 60 fps and at high settings but my budget is tight right now so? I want to play BF4, Watch Dogs, and Titanfall when they come out at max.

Hello! I just built a PC a week ago: Specs: AMD 8350 Cpu ASUS DirectCU II GTX 770 x2 Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 8gb Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 1600mhz Corsair H100i Watercooler CMStorm Stryker case Corsair HX850 850w PSU SoundBlaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional Sound card ~~~~~~~~~~ So... I've had a post up on the CPU forum on here. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/34707-amd-fx8350-abnormally-slow/ I've concluded that it's the GPUs and CPU that aren't working well together. The cards are performing very weak in games and i'm only achieving 60-80 fps in BF3. And 33-37 Average FPS in Unigen Heaven. How can I fix this?

Hi guys, i know the topic has been discussed a few times but im in need of a few feedbacks. I need a graphics card. Current Games played: BF3, Crysis , etc. Monitor: 23 in Asus 1080p Will upgrade to 27in 2560x1440 display within next year or so. I have had previous experience with the 7970 card. Had it in my previous build. Awesome card, powerful and great for the price i got it for. Recent cards like the 760 have my eye because they cost like $250 brand new on Newegg, and get some amazing benchmarks!!!! So as stated in the title, which one should i choose to give me some sort of future proof and maybe SLi later? 670 vs 760 vs 7970 thx

I'm finally going to be replacing my GTX 460, and was wondering which of these cards (and which version) would be best for my needs. I'm running dual 1680x1050 monitors but I only use a single one for gaming. Would it be better to spend the extra money on a 770 or 7970, or is a 760/7950 going to be enough (I will probably upgrade to 1080p sometime soon)? I'm not going to be CPU bottlenecked so I just need to see if a faster card is really necessary.
-
Hey guys, so as some of you may know I recently bought a MSI GTX 770 Lightning, which turned out to be not that much of an overclocker. Having that in mind I was wondering if anyone of you has a Lightning Edition graphics card and has tested overclocking both with and without the GPU Reactor? Is there a significant performance difference? There is just not enough information about this on the web.

hey guys, i'm really stumped as to what graphics card to throw into my rig. I have a budget of $400-450 ball park, give or take if necessary. maybe you guys can help me out. I play mostly FPS games and open world games like GTA, Sleeping dogs, etc. The reason i'm so stumped is mostly having to do with memory bandwidth and VRAM. How much will i need to run these next gen games on the horizon? my goal is to run max settings at 1080p, but i'd still like the capability to get great FPS at higher resolutions as well. I dont plan on going 1440p anytime soon, but i'll more than likely make the transition at some point down the line. I highly doubt i'll ever run a multiple monitor set-up. Options which i have been considering: GTX 760 4GB in SLI: This seems to give me the best raw horsepower to get games moving at extremely high frames. Although this would be the most expensive option, i'd be able to split the cost up between 2 separate purchases so it takes the least hit on my wallet. My main concern with this option is 2-fold. Will my AX760 psu be able to handle these cards in SLI? Also, could SLI give me some problems or can i expect a 'plug-n-play' gaming experience? Are modern day games being developed with SLI mind so that i shouldnt have any problems? GTX 770 4GB: I want to think this is realistically my best option. It gives me a ton of horsepower but also a high amount of VRAM to work with which i think is going to be helpful for the games i like to play. My concern with this option is, im hearing many people saying that its 256-bit memory bus simply isn't enough to handle the 4GB of VRAM and its essentially wasting my money. So is it worth spending almost $70 more than a 7970? HD7970: This card has massive memory bandwidth, 3gb of VRAM, and should be able to handle most anything i throw at it. My specific concern with this option is that when i make the jump to 1440p somewhere down the line, im assuming another card would be advisable to maintain playable frame rates at high/max settings. that being said, crossfire seems iffy to me. im hearing a lot of problems with micro stutter and i simply dont want to wait until the end of july to hear if AMD will deliver on their new drivers or not. What should i do guys? im really confused on this one. here is my current build for anyone curious: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $369.99) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (Purchased For $34.99) Motherboard: Asus Z87-PRO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (Purchased For $0.00) Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (Purchased For $62.99) Storage: Intel 520 Series Cherryville 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (Purchased For $146.00) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Purchased For $76.99) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For $99.99) Case Fan: Enermax UCTVD14A 90.8 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $10.00) Case Fan: Enermax UCTVD14A 90.8 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $10.00) Case Fan: Enermax UCTVD14A 90.8 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $10.00) Case Fan: Enermax UCTB12P 71.2 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $8.33) Case Fan: Enermax UCTB12P 71.2 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $8.33) Case Fan: Enermax UCTB12P 71.2 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $8.33) Power Supply: Corsair 760W 80 PLUS Platinum Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (Purchased For $159.99) Total: $1005.93 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) So, I'm doing a hardware upgrade for my computer. After this purchase I don't see myself buying another card for at least 2 or 3 years running. Thus, I'm thinking between Radeon 7970 or GTX 680 or GTX 770. Well to start it off, they are all in the same range in regards to price ... around $400 dollars. I would say I'm a mild gamer, one of the current games that I play is COH 2. (If I get 7970, then I might get the never settle bundle). Running on a 1440p monitor. Might do a custom water loop with the gpu (not sure) Previously owned a 560 Ti and sold that. The reason I'm considering 680 or 770 is because of the geforce experience and I really like it. But I know most of you will think that 7970 is prob going to be the best "bang for the buck". I'm running a core i5 - 3570k at 4.2GHz... so I'm not sure if there's going to be any bottleneck issue, but my guess is that there won't be any. Let me know what you think. Also, I don't really want to wait for the new released card because I'm looking to spend no more than 399.99 price tag, and the 9xxx series will probably be around $7xx or at least $6xx.

This should be handled pretty quick here. My buddy has about an $800 budget. He's set on getting a pair of GTX770s in SLI. I told him to get a 780 instead. Maybe later he can get another 780, i don't know, but that was my reason. anyone else?

Hey, I was looking around for a 770 and i found a sale on the Gainward GTX 770 w/ Phantom cooler. Does anyone have any experience with this card and this cooler. I looks awesome, but does it perform as well as it looks?

Hello I am a first time builder looking to create an affordable yet bad-ass gaming system that will SMASH my stupid ps3. I'm am earning all the money myself washing vacuuming and waxing cars (along with other odds and ends work) so my budget is around 1500 and i REALLY don't want to overspend so should i go with the more cost effective 770 or the BEASTLY 780 (for 1080p gaming) Thanks, Jake

Ok I was wondering which graphics card to buy. I'm going to be gaming on a 1080p monitor and I do have a second monitor buy that for watching stuff when u play my games. So should I go with the 780 or 770 and I want to play on all high setting because, I'm like a graphic freak as my friends call me. Or should I wait for the 800 series of desktop graphic cards to come out. I really need your guys opinion b/c I really don't wanta to waste my parents money lol.
