I’m thinking about getting a new daily driver, I want a 2in1 for ease of use as I travel frequently, but I also need a machine that can handle medium-weight video editing (4K footage, light colour grading, basic titles, 2-3 video layers and audio editing) for when I am at a desk, I was wondering if an external GPU such as the blackmagic design eGPU or Razers eGPU, works with the dell XPS13 2 in 1, so that I can use it with the graphics card when I’m at my desk but still have the portability and basic power of the 2 in 1. cheers

I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Dell XPS 13 2in1 ever since I held one at Costco. The one thing I'm getting stuck on is the configuration. On LTT's video, he recommends the I5 with 8GB ram, 256gb SSD, which is currently on Dell's website at a member price of $1,224.99. At Costco in my area, they are only selling an I7 with 16gb of ram, 512g SSD and "Iris" graphics (which the I5 version does not come with) for $1,699. The heaviest workload I'll probably hit this thing with is music production, which any quad-core should work fine. I haven't had a modern laptop in a long time, so I'm wondering if the 16 gigs of ram will actually come in handy, and if the "iris" graphics make that big of a deal for throwing up and old game on medium settings once in a while. What do you guys think of those two specs at those two prices? Extra costco warranty worth it? Etc?

Im deciding between these laptops : -HP Spectre x360 [15" with a dedicated GPU and 16gb of ram] -Lenovo Yoga 930 [Non-Glass, again looking for 12-16gb of ram and this line doesnt have a dedicated GPU which is sad but i like the pen holder and FHD option big plus for me] -Dell XPS 2-in-1 [15" Preferably, but i can consider a 13" in all of the mentioned laptops, but yeah again 16gb of ram pref and Vega graphics is fine] What are your thoughts? Which would you pick and why? Opinions on pros vs con of each? Lets discuss, i wanna know what the community thinks. Little background on me : I'd spend a max of 1700 or 1800 on a laptop, I am going to start college and would love this for that. Smart household so i want a nice portable solution i can use as a tablet and laptop and i am a gamer. Got a 7700k with a 1060 at home triple monitor setup and thats my main rig, looking to upgrade to 2060(VERY likely to change) sometime if i find a really good deal. I like the idea of a pen too and i prefer a holder for the pen but if it doesnt i would just get a case that has a holder its kinda fine for me i guess. Responsiveness is a must and id prefer a "future proof" setup.. spend big now so i dont have to buy another one within the next 3/4+ years. Battery life is a big thing, i want atleast 7+ hrs and i will definitely game occasionally on this.... light photoshop and premiere here and there... When i say game btw, i dont expect to do anything more than leauge (might TRY Black ops just to see how it runs and any other light game but all heavy gaming will be done on my desktop so no worries there) And yeah... multi-tasking is a thing for me so definitely want more ram and would prefer larger capacity OR smallest SSD possible IF the laptop is easy to open up and swap my own SSD into it later (will definitely put in like a 1TB) same goes for ram, if i can add more later im 100% down for it. uhhh yeah, think thats it... anything i missed out on just ask im here! OH i also wouldnt mind holding out if there is something up and coming on the horizon you guys would recommend i wait for. a refresh of any of the above or a new contender in the 2-in-1 space im all for it!!!!!

I'm looking around for a 2-in-1 that can handle small games like Castleminer Z, Minecraft, and Terraria. It's a planned upgrade from a Yoga 710 with a 7200u in it. I'd also prefer that it's light, bout Macbook Air or Pro status; somewhat compact, like the current Yoga; and can hold a decent charge when not gaming, like 6+hours. The XPS 15 2-in-1 looks good, but the Vega M in it is somewhat overkill. Budget is roughly $1000 USD to about 1300. Oh. And this is for a friend who's mom is insistent they purchase from Best Buy -__-

Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 vs Normal non bendy one
Fadednova posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Just wanted to ask is the downgraded processor still good in the 2 in 1 system. Will be used for A LOT of school work (aka light video and audio editing, photo editing and word processing), some low to mid gaming (30 fps is ok) and browsing the wdw (world dank web). No budget and if you suggest a better light and small pc go ahead. -
I've done a lot of work researching for a college laptop and I've narrowed my list down to three, all being xps models. Below is a link for my compare thing on dell's website. (There are a lot of different configs and I want to clearly show which three I decided could possibly be for me ram, storage, resolution). If I buy this month (July 2018) I can save 200 dollars on the 13 or the 2in1 which will make the prices more even. https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/compare?ocs=cax15w10p1c403,smx15w10p1c1608,cax13w10p1c609 I know that the 8550u is a solid performer for productivity in the 13, but I don't know as much about the 8705g in the 2in1 or the 8750h in the 15. I read a little about each of them in intel's website, but I cant tell if the integrated Vega graphics in the 2in1 are better than the 1050ti in the 15. I know that the 8750h is superior performance wise to the 8705g in CPU tasks, but again, I don't know which combo is better. It was hard for me to tell how the battery life is affected on each laptop saying that the 15 has the CPU and GPU, but has a larger battery than the 2in1 with the bundled graphics which I assume will consume less battery. I know that the 13 is very portable, but I was unsure about the 15 inch models. I read online that they were heavier and less portable, but they didn't say if it was atrocious or still good but not at the 13 level. How portable are the 15 inch units? When it comes to the 2in1, I'm unsure of the stability. I currently have an old hp envy 2in1 that wobbles horribly whenever it is bumped or the table its on moves at all. I know its not the best laptop ever, but I would like to know if the xps 15 2in1 is stable. The 2in1 feature is really cool and useful, but if it's annoying all of the time, then it might not be for me. Most of my questions require testing, actually having all three laptops, or overall good knowledge of laptops/Ultrabook. None of which I can do/have. I would appreciate any help as I know I can't go wrong with any of the choices, but I obviously want to make the best choice. Thank You! I added a poll because polls are fun.

Hey, I am curios if I can make such a 2 gamers 1 cpu build, but I find that option to make it work too hard, at least for me, I currently have a cpu which would support this, of course if I can do it somehow else I will change to a better one, but is hyper-V a good option to do this? Are there any other options? Here is my Rig: Intel i5-6402P Gpu: gtx 950 Ram 8gb 2133 Mhz 2 tb hdd 240 gb ssd

I am looking for a 2 in 1 laptop that can handle basic to medium gaming, not looking to run Dark Souls 3 on Ultra or any AAA FPS. I would like to use it with a pen for basic Photoshop and sprite design, as well as run simple games off it like rocket league, maybe league of legends or pubg/fortnite. Front runner is currently the XPS 15 2 in 1 base model (which is very different from the XPS 15 not 2 in 1). Any thoughts or suggestions? I haven't owned a laptop since 2012 as they are freaking expensive and I built a fairly beefy desktop for only $1,100. My budget should be $1000 as I'm a pastor and we don't get paid that much haha, but I could go as much as $1,400 if I wait longer. Thanks, Keeners

Hey everyone. I am currently in the market for a laptop and at this point i'm down to deciding between two of them. I know I want a 2 in 1 design and I have found the specs I want in the New Dell Xps 15 2 in 1 and the Lenovo Yoga y720 15. Both of these are very well reviewed and I have looked at everything I can about them. From what I can tell the largest difference between them is that the Dell has marginally improved performance due to newer components and its screen is 100 nits brighter. What I would like to know from this community is if you all believe that the extra brightness in the screen about 370(dell) vs 280(Lenovo) and the minor performance increase is worth the about $600 increase. Really I feel its about my experience, or lack thereof, in laptop screen brightness in everyday use. Thanks for taking a moment to answer this for me and help me make my decision.

It just seems a little strange that more manufacturers haven't tried to replicate the design, it's practically the perfect balance between laptop and tablet (IMO). The only similar product I've seen is the Porsche Book One. Edit: By competitors I mean a tablet style display that detaches from the base, keeping the CPU and GPU in separate areas.

Hi, this is my first time coment in this forum, sorry for my english beforehand, it is not my native language and i use google translate. thanks for your understanding. Reviewing the news of CES 2018 and after seeing the last video of linus on the acer, I found information about the new two in one acer switch 7 black edition with a mx150 graphing machine for a price of 1,699 dollars. Finally, what really caught my attention was a small entry talking about a new two in one of the Chinese brand VOYO, called Voyo i7plus, which bears a strong resemblance to the acer switch, with a mx150 and 8gb of ram expandable to 16gb, for a price of 820 dollars. For that price is a tablet PC very competitive, but the little information on this product and still has no kind of review puzzles me, what do you think? Hey guys, My father, for work (Finance) is looking for a two-in-one, however as my experience and expertise is around watercooling and gaming pc's I was unable to help, he is seeking a 2 in 1 much similar to the Spectre x360, however he wants to be able to display to two external displays while charging, and since the spectre has only 2 thunderbolt 3 ports, one can be used for charging and one a display, hence making it unable to output to another display.he also wants stylus input. to clarify, i need a two in one with a stylus, that can output to two displays while charging simultaneously, and budget is no issue since his company will be paying. any recommendations?

Hey so I'm going off to uni (college for you US and Canadian folk) next year and thought in the meantime I would look around at laptops since my current one might not make it through. I'm gonna be studying music so a 2in1 or convertible laptop seems a good solution - I'm thinking being able to have pdfs of sheet music on there to read off of and to be able to annotate easily and such. It doesn't need to have the best keyboard as I'll likely take my K95 to use in my room but it does need to at least have a standard layout and be good enough to take notes on. I don't really have a set budget but I definitely won't be able to save up £2k or whatever so under £800 would be preferable. What I'm looking for: Decent battery life (doesn't have to be all day but more than 3/4 hours of light to medium use would be great) At least 13" screen; 15" preferable Either detachable or 360° flippable screen 3 USB type A ports (or a high bandwidth port to run a USB dock) HDMI port optional but useful Capable of medium-use multitasking (think several chrome tabs whilst streaming video/music, running notation software like Sibelius and maybe even a DAW like Cubase or FL Studio) Any experience with using any devices suggested would be great too. Thanks in advance!

Hi, So I am new to the forum (1st post), and I wanted to ask your opinion on the new LG gram 2-in-1 laptop, as none has considered it a viable option. I consider it a very valid solution against its competition, like the surface pro, or the new hp x360, as the LG has an included stylus, and even its screen seems made with a good quality. And the price is that sweet spot that I like (1500 USD). So what do you think about this convertible that LG has made? Is it a valid solution to the competition? Should Linus review it? (I'd like the last one)

I want to get a 2 in 1 laptop for university, with a colour accurate, nice display, fast cpu but, I want to game as well without the problems of gaming laptops dying and less powerful GPUs, so I was going to buy a Lenovo c940 2 in 1 with a 10th generation i7 processor, 16 gb of memory, 1 tb ssd and thunderbolt 3 port. With a razer core x exturnal GPU fit with a RTX 2080. Is this my best option for a gaming setup with a 2 in 1 laptop with a high colour accuracy?

Hey guys, so I am thinking about making a 2 in 1 computer build similar to the Linus made here so that my little brother and enjoy co-op PC gaming without having to deal with any spacing compromises and I was thinking if the AMD FX-8350 also being a 8 core CPU and cheaper than the I7 6700K that they used here. Thank you for answering

I am a student looking for a sub 1,500 dollar (US) laptop. I would prefer a tablet or a convertible. My current machine is a Toshiba A505-S6960 with: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 4 GB RAM 285 GB SATA HDD 720p Non-Touch Screen Here the list of computers I am considering: Razer Blade Stealth HP OMEN 2016 Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with i5, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB ssd Lenovo Yoga 900 I really want something thin and light, and I DO NOT WANT A MACBOOK. Almost anything would be an upgrade to what I currently have, but I think I have a reasonably demanding workload. I do CAD work in PTC Creo, programming in Visual Studio 2015 and Android Studio, and I would like to get into video editing. I honestly don't know what sort of hardware I need, because my laptop is 8 years old, and I don't know anybody with a modern machine, so I don't know what sort of hardware I am looking for, since I don't really know how much different modern processors are from the old ones. Everything on that list except for the OMEN has an Intel xxxxU processor. Will the dual core processor be enough? Sorry about the open-endedness of this question.

Hello everyone, first of all I`m brand new to this forum and therefore apologize if I do commit any major sins Second thing (disclaimer): I`m german so please bear with my flawed language and feel free to ask if you don`t get my points. Now back to the topic: I`m currently searching for a very portable laptop/2 in 1/ultrabook/tablet which should more or less cover the following points: - under 4 and a half pounds or roughly 2 kilograms (with less being better ofc) (for the sake of portability) - preferably not larger than 14" but I guess 15" would be my personal limit (for staying portable enough) - the thinner the better - Battery should last for at least 4-5 hours while more is always better and very welcome - Build-quality should be more on the premium side, since I`m kind of sick of all thos cheap feeling and looking devices out there - the OS should preferably be Windows (10) but if there are good reasons I guess I could get by with another OS (Apple) as well - performance should suffice to run photoshop fluently with some background browsing and music, if possible room for some basic 3D-rendering would be very nice - if it can handle some light-weight gaming (casual League of Legends etc.) that wont hurt, but that`s by no means an exclusion criterion - the screen should be an IPS-panel with at least decent color-accuracy - if it`s going to be a "laptopish"-device then I`d like to at least have 2 USB 3.0, 1 HDMI/(Mini)DisplayPort to plug in my drawing tablet - if it`s going to be a 2 in 1 device then it should feature a pen and a decent pen experience (parallax, friction, pressure) - silent (I am willing to accept some fan noise if it`s necessary but it shouldn`t be too much) - Price should not be a main limitation (but ofc less is better) So as you can see I kind of have a pretty "clear" idea of what I`d like to have, but I`m having trouble choosing an actual device which would suit my needs best and this is where I hope some of you may enlighten me I basically want a well build, good looking, portable machine which has enough power to be my little creative studio on the go and fits the other points listed above to a certain degree. It`s not supposed to be a full workstation and does not need to replace my desktop entirely! Products which look interesting to me so far: - Surface Pro 4 (I`d go with the mid-config i5, 8 Gigs of Ram,256 GB SSD) - Razer Blade Stealth (looks like a very cool device and I`ve got to admit I kinda got hooked by the design) - Dell XPS 13/15 (I`m not really sure which config I should go with here exactly) - a MacBook Pro (I really like the build quality and appearance, but I don`t think those make a lot of sense If I want to use windows) - Vaio Z canvas (main question here: "Would the Surface Pro 4 make more sense for me?") - ASUS Zenbook UX305LA (looks like a great "bang for the buck" machine) Additional interesting Products till now: - Surface Book (not sure if the concept suits my needs) - Wacom Companion 2 (might be a little too loud) That`s pretty much the result of my "research" so far. Now if you have any recommendations or other devices I should take a look at, please feel free to share them with me! If you have had any experience with one of the devices above which makes you think it doesn`t cover my needs please shout it out loud (I don`t want to go spend my money on something, which won`t satisfy my demands) And least but not last: Am I going into the right direction with the devices listed above, or should I totally look into different categories?

I'm looking for a decently powered windows/android device, and with android support in the future and this seems to fit the form factor i am looking at, the reviews on the Hi10 seem to be ok and the usb ports are a plus battery seems to be ok.
