Hoping for some help here! Upgrading gpu in my legendary old PC. It's rocking a 3570k currently at 4.2ghz coupled with 8gb Ddr3 ram. Currently also in there is a GTX670. Served me far better than I ever expected but I think some modern day AAA games are just too much for the poor thing. SOOO I'm looking at either the 1650S or the 1660S. My main concern here is that the 1660S may hit a bottleneck effectively giving performance of 1650S but wasting £60. Should I save the money and go 1650S or will I see the benefit of the 1660S despite my weathered but reliable 3570k? Thanks all

When I built my PC, as graphics cards were and still sort of are very hard to get, I decided I'd temporarily live on integrated graphics. But as graphics cards slowly return to the shelves and decrease in price I'm thinking about buying one soon. Presuming both options are always at MSRP, and the amount I can spend is capped at £250 ($326.68 USD, $411.96 CAD), would I be better off getting a GTX 1660 Super or an RTX 3050? Or could I even wait for a better option? Though I assume my other specs won't notably, if at all, affect what I can get out of either card, here are my specs anyway: Ryzen 5 5600G 16GB DDR4-3000 (8x2) (In retrospect I should've gotten 3200 or 3600 but whatever) Corsair CX550F RGB power supply, which I can upgrade if necessary Corsair MP510 PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD Gigabyte A520 Aorus Elite ATX Motherboard (Card size isn't a concern)

I currently have a EVGA GTX 970 in my pc. I want to upgrade to either a GTX 1660 Super or a RTX 2060. If I could get either at MSRP (hopefully through EVGA que, I dont mind the wait), which would be the better value? The RTX 2060 has better performance but more expensive, or the 1660 Super that is cheaper with less performance. I have a 165hz monitor and looking for constant FPS because I compete in tournaments online. My PC Specs Cpu- Ryzen 5 1600 Gpu- EVGA GTX 970 Ram- 16gb 3600MHz Motherboard- Rog Strix B450-F Psu- 850 watts

Hello, I am looking to upgrade my PC to a GTX Geforce 1660 Super but I am very confused. On Amazon there are several links, evga, msi, and more, and as far as I can tell the only difference is price. I know there are obviously some differences so what are they? Any suggestions!?! Here are Several of the links I was looking at MSI https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GeForce-192-bit-Support-Graphics/dp/B07ZHDZ1K6/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=gtx+1660+super&qid=1585335364&sr=8-8 EVGA https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZHZL2JB/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AHG2MI785YUY7&th=1 GIGABYTE https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-Windforce-Gv-N166SOC-6GD/dp/B07YYZGM51/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=gtx+1660+super&qid=1585335638&sr=8-3

So I was scrolling through micro center and stumbled upon these great deals. Just my luck, I was looking for a GTX 1660 S and these turn out to be pre overclocked. But I don't know if I should get the MSI, Asus, or gigabyte? Which one is more reliable, which one has better temps. Which one would you recommend? Thanks for any comments!

Morning all, I had questions about RAID and redundancy. Sorry if this has been asked before. First off, setup: I7-3770, P8Z77-V LK Asus Motherboard, 8GB DDR3, GTX 1660 Super, 3x8TB Seagate drives(not NAS rated) 1x5TB Seagate Drive, 240GB Kingston SSD. Use of setup: Only running Plex and a file server-DNLA(in case i want to transfer uncompressed movie/show files to phone, I do this often). 1x8TB holds all my media. 1x8TB is blank, 1x8TB is an external drive that I backup manually with my media drive( would love to automate this). 1x5Tb is used for downloading media and converting if necessary so i do not bottleneck/wear out media drive needlessly. SSD is for OS(WIN 10 PRO) Plex Metadata is also saved on this. Want: In the end of all this i would like to have a Raid 1 or something similar to automatically backup my media drive( I would like Raid 1 just for the speed benefits of downloading media off of it more quickly). As well as having my current 8TB external drive backup automatically( I do not want Seagates tiered backup file system, I just want the current file backed up to look exactly like my Media drive.) Question: I have heard and seen on this forum that a lot of people tend to steer away from RAID due to issues with motherboard compatibility and or errors that cause the drive to be useless. What is your guys thoughts? I am just tired of manually backup up drives. I am currently trying to use Software Mirror via Disk MGMT and it is currently at 45% Resyncing the 2x8TB drive (they were freshly formatted before mirror started). Is this the best option for what I have? A lot of people i have seen steered away from motherboard RAID, just because if the motherboard died you might be in deep shit. P:S: If i had all my ducks in a row, I would like to have 4x8TB (or bigger ) 2 sets of raid 1. One pair for Movies and the second pair with TV shows.

I'm going to buy a 1660 Super, I saw that the price difference between the Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super Gaming OC and the Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super OC is "big" since I found the Gaming OC for 269€ and the OC for 250€ (227€ refurbished) I have two questions: I saw that the regular OC has 2 fans instead of 3. Is that the only difference between those two? I'm not going to play graphic-consuming games, so I don't think overheating will be a problem (I'm probably only going to play Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, League of Legends, GTA V but not anything really demanding) Is buying a refurbished GPU worth it? Because that 23€ difference between the normal one and the refurbished one will help a lot since I'm building a computer right now.

It would be great if anyone could give me some feedback on this, maybe i could replace some parts with something better. So I wanna build a 75Hz rig and I wanna keep it for next gen games. Here are my specs : PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sZgDV7 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($172.39 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler ($57.97 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B450M MORTAR MAX Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($79.98 @ Amazon) Storage: Corsair MP510 240 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($53.99 @ Corsair) Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($58.98 @ Newegg) Case: Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($50.88 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE White V2 230V 550 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($142.88 @ Other World Computing) Monitor: LG 22MK430H-B 21.5" 1920x1080 75 Hz Monitor ($116.99 @ B&H) Total: $734.06 I'm hesitating between the Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super and the RX 5600 XT. The GTX 1660 Super costs 260€ and the RX 5600 XT 299€. My monitor has Freesync but only with HDMI, meaning that Nvidia can't support G-Sync. The RX 5600 XT outperforms the GTX 1660 Super, but the drivers of the RX 5600 XT are a hit or miss. The GTX 1660 Super, however, has stable drivers, but I'm afraid it can't keep up 75FPS on next gen games. AMD has not so good OpenGL support, which is still used on certain emulators, but Nvidia has good OpenGL and Vulkan support. So, which card should I get ?

Hey does anyone have any ideas as how to choose between these, my price range for a gpu is around £280. Any other suggestions for other gpus are also appreciated. Thanks

I bought the Inspiron 5680 with the i5-9400, 1050 ti, and 8gb ram. Can I upgrade to a 1660 super (this one to be specific: https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1660-super-gv-n166sixoc-6gd/p/N82E16814932234) or do I have to upgrade my first PSU? (the inspiron 5680 comes with a 460 watt psu) (I also already added 8gb ram so 16 total, and I'm planning to add an SSD)

I'm a new member and I specifically joined to ask this. I have a mid range(?) build i3-8100 GTX 1660 super 16gb 2666 RAM and an old VGA 60hz HP monitor which is at 1440x900. As per benchmarks I see on YouTube and Google, I should get pretty decent frames while playing up to date games like farcry, PUBG, Apex and so on. But I get nothing. I barely hit 70fps on ultra on farcry, I don't get stable 80fps on Apex and roughly hit 60 on PUBG, and it's not even on highest settings. Is there anything wrong with my build or my software or anything?

I wanna get this out of the way first, I know my cousin is better off with a whole new computer but he wants to keep 300-500 dollars just in case he wants something else. Here is what we are thinking on upgrading from CPU: Amd FX 6300 to a FX 9590 GPU: 1050 Ti to a 1660S RAM: 8GB DDR3 (I think) and just add another stick to make 16GB Will this bottleneck? His CPU temps are 55 avg but we are unsure of what the usages were. I will update this thread as soon as I get more info.

Hi all My specs are: Ryzen 7 3700x GTX1660 Super Asus Prime X570P 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3600mhz (2x 8GB) 500gb sabrent m.2 Corsair CX650M power supply I have been experiencing frame timing issues in CSGO... particularly at high frame rates. I will have really good FPS 280+ consistently but about every 10 seconds or so my frame timings will shoot from 3-4ms to 50+ms for a brief second, resulting in stutter. When I have enabled V-Sync to limit the FPS to 60, the frame time spikes are less extreme and less frequent (staying at 16.7-16.8ms - occasionally spiking to 25-30), but are occasionally noticeable (not just by looking at the RivaTuner overlay). What can I do to troubleshoot this as in a game like CSGO this can be a really big issue? Temps, clock speed, fan speed, CPU speed and temps are all normal, and there doesn't appear to be anything unusual happening in HWiNFO or MSI Afterburner monitor corresponding to the frame timing spikes. Steps I have already tried: Uninstall and reinstall latest Nvidia drivers. Switch off DOCP, returning ram to stock 2666mhz and timings. Tried V-Sync both off and on. Enabling low latency mode in the nvidia control panel (made it worse) Unplugging other devices from the extension lead powering my PC. Tried lowering settings. Is there any chance that my cheapo extension lead could be causing this, giving uneven power deliver (although I thought there were capacitors in the PSU and MB which were meant to mitigate this?)? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating as this PC should be able to easily play this game no problem. Thanks

I am building a computer and was going to get the Ryzen 7 3700x with the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX Motherboard and a Nvid 1660 OC. I want to start gaming on twitch would this cause me a huge issue? I was going to update the graphics card later if all works out but on a budget. I do Telecommute for work so thought the Ryzen 7 would do me a solid there. I just want to make sure when the day is done i can fire up the GPU for gaming.

Hi, I'm look to upgrade my GPU and have decided on a 1660 Super but now I'm having to sort through all the different variations from different manufactures. I'm leading towards the EVGA GTX 1660 Super 6 GB SC ULTRA GAMING mostly because it fits my builds aesthetic. Is there a big increase in performance from getting an OC version or a better version of this card than one I've selected? I have been trying to figure it out on my own but I could use some help (Canadian btw)

Hello Linus Tech Tips Forum! My names Juke. But You'll know me as BubbaJ! I'm a bit of a nerd. Always talk nerd talk. But I need to get to the bottom of this and figured I might as well join the Linus fam here other then just on YouTube. So here's my question/dilemma. For pure live streaming. Which GPU would work better? The 1660Ti or the 1660 Super? I can get the Ti for the same price as the super. So price isn't the issue for me. I'm just wondering which would work out better as a dedicated NVENC Encoder for live streaming. That would be it's only use. Right now I'm leaning towards the TI because I've heard it's the overall better card when it comes to gaming. But I don't need this card for gaming purpose. Would the encoding be the same on each card so the final answer would just be get whichever is cheaper? Or does it make more sense to get one over the other? Thank you all for your advice in advanced! Juke

I am wondering which 1660 super I should grab. I can't seem to find any resources on comparing different models, do any of you guys happen to know anything that might help? Basically, I'm looking for a 1660 super, with a metal backplate and a very nice cooling solution.

Hey, currently Centrecom is currently having a Boxing day sale and included are the Gigabyte RX 590 Rev 2.0 ($289) Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super ITX ($330) MSI Aero GTX 1660 Super ITX ($339) So with mainly temps on my mind, is it worth getting either 1660 Supers or stick with 590? NOTE: I got a CM MWE White 80+ 550W PSU inside a ATX case, so while it may be considerable for the 1660 it might pose a problem for 590.
