i was just wondering if i can control the RPM on my 140mm fan that is mounted on top of my case. The RPM at the moment is 1473 RPM, the fan is too noisy for my liking and every time i play games, there is only one 120mm fan exhausting the air out, so i assume it gets really hot inside the case. I don't normally connect the 140mm fan because of the noise. Now, the question is, can i control the fan speed? I have it connected to the 3 pin header on my motherboard. I know there is a program such as SpeedFan, but the problem is, i have no idea how to work it. Does anyone have a guide or tutorial on how to set a fan up so you can control it? That would be highly appreciated. Thank You.

Fractal Design R4 Double H90 140mm Rad Front mount. Possible?
tcdds posted a topic in Power Supplies
I am currently working on a new Gaming PC using the Fractal design R4, I have watched every youtube video I could find featuring the case and have looked through many sites to find the answers I seek. The R4 Is able to house two 140mm fans in the front, does this also mean It can house two 140mm Radiators? One for Gpu other for Cpu. Almost all the videos I have seen with Radiators in the R4 are large ones on the top exhaust, this confuses me. Shouldnt the Rad be more effective as an intake having cooler air involved? This is why I'm wondering If dual 140mm Rads could be possible in the front of the R4. I have read that exhaust should be greater then the intake. To maximize airflow and space I am wondering if two 140mm Rads will fit up front, allowing me to use the two top and single rear exhaust with 140mm fans. Removing the top drive bays and moving the bottom ones back will not be an issue. If anyone has experience with the case and can elaborate on possible clearance issues, please do!- 4 replies

Hey guys, I recently bought the Cosmos 2 case and wanted to replace the stock fans so I get better airflow in my case. I live in India so it gets pretty hot out here, I am currently using 2 top exhausts (Stock 120mm fans), 1 200mm front intake (Stock) and a H80i Cooler in the back in Push-Pull configuration for my CPU... I don's mind extra noise but I require good cooling for my Graphics card, I'm running a Quadro K4000 card and it gets pretty hot during 3D rendering tasks.... I have very few options in terms of Fan Availability, I can get Bitfenix Spectre Pro's, Corsair SP or AF series, Noctua NF-F12's are not available here... So could you help me in picking out an optimal solution for keeping my components nice and cool... If possible I would like the fans to have LED lights just because it looks cool. Performance and reliability are very important for me.... Thanks guys....

Hi all, So pretty much as the title says, what are the quietest fans you know of, but still give out really good performance, are bequiet! any good? I would be looking for some 120mm and 140mm fans.

This fan came with my case. I cannot comment on the packaging because it came with my case. It was held in place by four black screws with obviously one in each corner. The fan itself uses a black frame with eleven white blades. The cable itself is sleeved in one of the most fantastic sleeves you will ever see. Even though there are red yellow and black wires within the sleeve you cannot see them at all. By the way it's a plastic-ey sleeve. The connector is white. In terms of noise these fans are completely silent. I can just barely hear them when they are at full speed. The airflow however is almost next to nothing. Okay that may be a little too harsh. However the airflow from these fans is very small. Don't expect these to move massive amounts of air in and out of the case. Putting my hand behind the 120mm version, I could hardly feel any air coming out. There was one big problem though. I had it mounted horizontally (----) blowing out the top of my case and when it was spinning at full speed it would make an obnoxious sound. It was kind of like a high pitch and a low hum combined together and that was not pleasant. However decreasing the fan speed solved the problem but at the same time diminishing even more airflow. These fans look nice and are really quiet if that's what you're looking for however the airflow is just not good enough even for a silence optimised fan. If you want a black and white fan then you should look into the Gelid Silent 14s or 12s instead. I would not recommend these fans. I will get pictures up when the camera has finished charging.

Hey guys, I'm building my first pc in a long time, and I am going to be using a Fractal R4 case with an MSI MPower mobo and haswell, that's cooled by an h100i (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1lTfp) I am thinking of replacing the 140mms that come with the r4 to 2 Noctua 140mms in the front, and 1 blue or red or orange LED'd fan in the back, with 2 Noctua F12s to power the h100i on top in a pull config if I can fit it there. My question is: a : I bought a Noctua A14 FLX with the Fractal case, and it comes with a "low noise adapter". Should I plug the fan in using that? b : What is the best 140mm LED'd fan I can get for the back that's quiet and provides good airflow? I'm looking at the NZXT ones. Are they good? Also, I'm thinking about the blue LED one, but maybe the red or orange will look better with the yellow MSI accents? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am getting a new side panel for my HAF XM from Cooler Master (they are offering it for me) that has two 140mm Fan Slots which I will utilise. Before going further, the thing you need to know about me is that I really do not care about noise. At the moment I got 5 of Jetflo 120mm case fans which push a lot of air but very loud. Despite of this I am very impressed by how much air it pushes for just a small 120mm fan (95 CFM). But because I can now add 140mm (not 120mm) I want to know some 140mm fans that can match or outperform the 120mm Jetflo that I possess. Ofcourse it shouldn't be as loud as a jet-engine or vacuum, as long it is reasonable for the performance just like my Cooler Master Jetflos. After some searching, 140mm fans are not as popular and crowded as 120mm's and many of them are old and generic. The only decent ones are from Noctua but they are expensive such as the NF-A12: http://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products-details.phtml?id=&id2=228&bid=&sid=195490 The NF-A12 at 3000RPM is the only one that outperforms the Jetflo in terms of CFM and Air Pressure. Are there other decent 140mm fans I missed? May you please help me search for one at http://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products_list.phtml?id=10&bid=2&id2=228 Thanks!

Has anyone used these fans? Also does anyone in the UK know where i can get them besides ebay and yoytech cause ebay ill go to if i have no other choice and yoyotech has some really dodgy reviews online because dayumm they look sexy like the best led fans ive ever seen Look at it!!!

Currently I have dual 290x DC2 in crossfire. The top card as I predicted is suffocating. I noticed the side panel gets insanely hot when the cards are on load. I concluded the 140mm fan on the side panel sucks and isn't moving enough hot air away from the case. So here I am now hunting for an 140mm fan that is strong enough to push hot air out of my case while maintaining a tolerable noise level. Also as in tolerable I don't mean I want them as silent as noctua fans. I have 2 gentle typhoons running and they sound completely fine. So yea, what's best airflow 140mm fan? Thanks!

What are the good options around for static pressure optimized 140mm fans? Price doesn't matter.
-
Hi, I have a simple question. What would you pick, one 200mm or two 140mm fans? Whats best for CFM/dB? A 200mm would move more air then one 140mm but if you use two 140mm, would they move more? And if so would they sound more? Thanks

Hello Linus Tech Tips Forum Members... So, i am planning a gaming/workstation build, and I am putting in the Corsair Air Series fans. I want the builds primary colour to be green (Green watercooling tubes, etc.), so I am planning to spraypaint the swappable rings on the Corsair fans green. The reason why I am posting this thread is, I don't know which fans i should put in the case (Corsair 750D). Should it be the Airflow fans or the Static Pressure fans. (AF vs. SP). I am planning to follow the airflow pattern that the attached picture shows. And I am thinking about putting a 360mm radiator in the 3 top fans, for custom watercooling. Please answer these questions. Which types of fans should i put where in the build? - (Rear 1x140mm, Front 2x140mm, Bottom 2x120mm, Top 3x120mm) "Air Flow or Static Pressure" - Where to put what? Where should i put the radiator? In the top (3x120mm), where the hot air passed through, or place a smaller radiator in the bottom (2x120mm)? Thanking you in advance!

Hey guys, since I'm going to get a NZXT Kraken X60 somewhere around january and my current case (Sharkoon T9 Value) won't really fit it (I cut out 2 140mm fan holes - would have to mount the fans outside), I've started thinking about switching it. While I'm at it, I remembered having a lot of problems with cablemanagement and airflow in this case and since I want to get 2 NZXT Kraken G10 for my graphicscards later next year I need at least one additional fan-mount on the bottom of the case. So what I'll need is: 2x 140mm top fan-mount support for NZXT Kraken X60 radiator 1x 120/140mm rear fan-mount (later used for G10 radiator like a Corsair H55) 1x 120/140mm bottom fan-mount (later used for G10 radiator like a Corsair H55) 2x 120/140mm front fan-mount (alternatively on the side - storage and airflow) Since I want to reuse my cathodes (red) and maybe get some LED-stripes I want a case with a window. The one I've come across, meeting these is the CM Storm Trooper SGC-5000-KWN1. But I'm not so sure about it. What are your thoughts? Kind regards, Trek

Title says it all, will there be be any noticable difference in airflow, noise, etc. between a 120mm fan and a 140mm fan? Just wondering, because I notice many cases have mounts for both 120mm or 140mm.

hello, i've made some topics about orange LED fans but i think i will step away from that and use some LED strips around my case. now i need 3 high airflow 140mm fans for the back and front i need 2 high pressure 140mm fans for a kraken x60 and 2 high airflow 120mm fans for the bottom out/intake these fans are gonna be placed in the corsair obsidian 750D no LED and i prefer black over any other colour! i want to overclock! any suggestions? i've been looking at these: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/bitfenix-case-fan-bffsprop14025kkrp are they any good? thanks in advance

so yeah i need some new fans for the H110 because the stock ones are airflow and loud as balls, any suggestions? SP-140's dont seem to be in abundance

Hey, I'm currently using a Phantom 820 by NZXT and for liquid cooling a Swiftech H320. My problem here arises with fans. For those of you who don't know the fan layout for this case. I'm using a 360mm radiator on top for my processor and it's in a pull configuration (Pulls air). At the side panel I'm using one of there's 200mm fan for cooling my 780Ti and at the front I have another 200mm fan provided by NZXT to cool down my set of WD Blacks. Other than that I still have a 140mm fan behind which I don't know to put it into a intake or exhaust fan. The problem is here, this is my first build and well I don't know much about airflow and stuff. I was thinking that since all fans couldn't be intake I have to put a exhaust fan there somewhere. My question was would a back 140mm fan be enough for this humongous case or should I even use them bottom slots for it? And forgive me but science isn't my strong suit but isn't the thing that hot air is light and therefore flows up? Thank You

http://www.akasa.com.tw/update.php?tpl=product/product.detail.tpl&no=181&type=Fans&type_sub=PWM%20Control&model=AK-FN073 The specs look promising. I'm thinking of using two on a CPU cooler, they have a high maximum CFM for when the CPU goes above 70degrees and I am sure they will spin very quietly at lower RPMs.. Martin did a small review of their 120mm fan but it's a totally different model, that did not fair so well... http://martinsliquidlab.org/2013/05/07/fan-testing-round-12/ This is the closest I can get to have an idea of their performance, it's a Polish review. But you can just look at the graphs and get an idea of what is going on... http://pcfoster.pl/artykul/akasa-venom-medusa-%E2%80%93-test-coolera-cpu/1103-4.html I'm thinking that the actual heatsink is the let down in that review, not the fans. I'm sure they would perform better on say... Prolimatech/Thermalright/Thermaltake heatsink than the stock fans.

- very good airflow - relatively silent - no LED - white or black colored What is the best 140mm case fan that has all those criteria? I want to use it as the side intake on my Phantom 410.

Hey guys. I'm planning a new build that I'll start in about 2 months times. I'll be using the NZXT Phantom 410, along with a Corsair H110. The problem is, the stock fans don't look very convincing. So, I need suggestions for 140mm fans that can go on the H110. Noctua is the obvious solution, but I'm keeping that as a last resort, because I want to stick to my red/black colour scheme. Any thoughts?
