Hello. I have MSI Gaming X Geforce GTX 1060 6GB which runs at 1949Mhz Boost clock. In some games I come across FPS drops (sometimes stable low FPS) and have to turn down my graphic settings. VRAM is loaded by 4.5GB and GPU is working at 99%. After surfing the internet, I found some tests between 1060 and 1070. It is no surprise that 1070 was better but after looking at numbers I got confused. Even running at lower frequency, (1800s) 1070 provided 30 more FPS (VRAM was also loaded by 4.5GB) . Can you explain why 1070 provides better performance? I do not have enough knowledge in Graphics Cards so this question definitely sounds funny to you.

I’ve currently got a GTX 780 3GB paired with a i5 8400 and I’m looking to upgrade the GPU. The top end of my budget would be a 1070/980ti but I’m also looking at 1060 6GB and rx580 8GB as cheaper options. Would the 1060 or rx580 be noticeable upgrades or do I have to go for the 1070 or 980ti? Cheers

Hi everybody and sorry for my bad English.I've just sell my Alienware 15 R3 to buy a new gaming laptop, 8th Gen, with full GTX 1070, and I've done some research between Asus, Alienware, MSI, and in conclusion I hesitate a lot between these models (battery life isn't an issue for me, and I will carry my laptop everyday in a backpack to school from my house) :- ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GM501GS- ASUS ROG Strix GL703GS SCAR (does it exist in 15" ?)- MSI GS73/GS63 8RF (Max-Q or Full ?)- MSI GS65 8RF (Too expensive for only 256/512GB storage?)I came here to hear your advices and critics about these laptops, and what models would you choose ? Thermals are good on these laptops ? Because my AW had horrible thermal issues (99°C in game) and that matter a lot for me because I hate throttling when gaming (not just me I assume).Last thing : I can do a Liquid Metal Repaste but I heard that will affect the guarantee on Asus Models (and it's not good when you move your laptop in a backpack ???)Thanks in advance ! PS: just heard about Mechrevo V2, but not sure how I can buy it in EU.

I'm pretty excited about this one. It's been working out much better than I thought - though I haven't had entirely smooth sailing. I finally have my setup 2.0 up and running. Its been three or four years of waiting, and then six months of watching prices on the market for this to happen, but I’m happy to say I have completed the alpha version of the gaming setup of the future™. The setup’s core is the XPS 9370 supplying the CPU and I/O, paired with the new Gigabyte Aorus 1070 Gaming box. I dropped this bad boy on the desk, plugged in my power and screens, then the fateful moment came: I plugged in the included TB3 cable and… YIKES those LEDs are horrible. Let’s turn those off… and then never use the included software again, because it is barely working garbage. Ugh… OK, lets not judge a book by its cover; I didn’t buy this for pretty lights, I bought it for performance! Moving right along… This eGPU is a big deal. Yes, its not the first, but technically, neither was Edison when he ‘invented’ the lightbulb. I think that, like Edison, this GPU-in-a-box is the real herald of a shift in its space. This is for three reasons: Power, Portability, and Price. Power: The Aorus Gaming Box comes in three flavors: the 1070/1080 editions for the green team, and the RX 580 edition for red. All three of these options boast ‘VR Ready’ performance and all will crush any game at 1080p, even with the 8-10% performance loss from the Thunderbolt bottleneck. My version, the 1070 edition, happily played Overwatch at 1440p with minor dips below 60fps and pegged at 60 fps minimum in 1080. For frame junkies, the 1070 edition’s sweet spot is definitely 1080p. For more demanding gaming loads, I ran a little of the Witcher 3. Again, I maxed settings (aside from HairWorks, because come on) and found great framerates. My other load was Minecraft. Bear with me here; this wasn’t vanilla. I added some notable tweaks: The Spax BDCraft 256 pixel texture pack, and of course, Sonic Ether’s shaders (reborn edition). Then, I ran it at 4k and made a quick cinematic for flips and giggles. …Truly, any 16 year old’s dream. But what about adulting? One neat thing about GPU-intensive things that don’t require Realtime rendering is the Thunderbolt bottleneck basically disappears. I ran the NiceHash GPU crypto hashing program and pulled down an average profit of $2.30 per day over a week. Obviously, you won’t get rich, but it does speak to the raw performance of what is literally a bog-standard Desktop 1070 running full tilt. Portability: So, cool fact: The Aorus Gaming Box comes packaged not just in bubble wrap, but in a lovely carrying case with included shoulder strap. This is just another way Gigabyte showed its clear attention to portability when making this pocket rocket. The size is something to behold. Its so small that they had to put custom coolers on the 1080 and RX 580 editions with massive fans. The 1070 edition, though, can squeak by with just the ITX version. Still all three versions use standard PCI connectors that should be able to run anything that A) can fit and B) can get by with no more than a single 6+2 power connector from the built-in power supply. Future Proofing FTW! My setup basically doesn’t move, but I am totally taking this with me the next time I fly out to visit family. That’s a big part of this whole setup. Now, I can literally take my home setup anywhere I go. Let’s just hope the TSA doesn’t freak when they see it. Price: This is still on my list despite a price that might turn many people off. The fact is, you aren’t just buying a GPU here. You’re buying a GPU, PSU, and an I/O expansion card, plus a small case. The eGPU market will always have a little overhead because of this, but most of that cost is amortized over the idea that you can use the same enclosure with future generations of GPUs. I have faith in the burgeoning eGPU community and the amazing industry-wide adoption of the Thunderbolt 3 paradigm, and feel confident that I will be able to keep this system moving forward for several more generations. The Aorus 1070 edition’s MSRP is 699 USD. When you consider most 1070s are In the 350-400 dollar range, that means the box itself is valued between 200 and 250 dollars. When looking at other eGPUs, that is anywhere from 50 to 300 dollars cheaper! Conclusion: This won’t be for everybody. I don’t think this is going to supplant a desktop setup… yet. Still, the fact that my 13 in Ultrabook can drive AAA titles and perform workstation tasks, then unplug and take notes in class or meetings for over 6 hours on battery life is incredible. I have one PC that takes my settings and environments everywhere. I get amazing portability and battery life, as well as X-TREME gaming performance. The future is here baby. Video Review:

Hi guys, I have decided to upgrade my gpu. I am stuck with what card to get. I have found the rx580, 980ti and the 1070, all used at an affordable price. The current prices are: RX580 8gb - £245 ($337) 980ti - £330 ($453) 1070 - £360 ($495) Again these cards are not brand new, they are used. I am currently thinking to get the RX580 and then crossfire with another 580 next year? Would this be worth it? Or shall i spend the extra money now on a 1070? The reason the 980ti is on my mind is because I know it can be overclocked and get slightly better performance than the 1070, my only worry is that 980ti being an older card, will the 1070 perform better in a year or twos time? The games I play are mainly fps and rpg. So Battlefield, Wildlands, far cry, Squad, The Witcher, Fallout, Kingdom Come: Deliverance etc. Any help would be appreciated

Hi! Recently, I noticed a significant FPS drop on certain games on my pc(especially more gpu intensive ones.) A week ago i benchmarked my pc on Grand Theft Auto V at Ultra Settings(advanced graphics are all off) and it was around 80-120 fps. But recently, I went online and it had only about 40-50fps. None of the settings were changed, I have all the latest GPU drivers, and a mcafee scan came back without finding anything. I wanna see if there’s anything I can do before calling Dell up. Specs(prebuilt alienware aurora r7): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Intel i5-8400 8GB Single Channel DDR4 @2666 460 Watt Alienware PSU 1TB 7200rpm SATA HDD 16GB M.2 PCIe Optane Memory I’m not sure abot the other specifications because the website doesn’t say anything else about the hardware

My question How do you use up 8+gb of vram, what is it for? Vr? Can you use up in pc I google to look for some vids and forum talking about it but find non Though there are lots videos 'how much vram do you need' and usually they uses lees than 4gb. In one tripleA game it uses about 5.5gb@4k. So this question came to me cause 1070+ got lots of vram

Is this build good enough for 4K gaming? I’ve been planning on getting a 4K monitor but I don’t know if i can run it. I’ve tried using geforce experience to run 4k and they run fine, but I’m a little worried because I’m getting 90-100fps on the GTA V benchmark with 3840x2160 running at high to very high settings and I don’t know if the benchmark is showing my fps on 1080p.(MSAA off, FXAA off, Long shadows on, extended distance scaling off. I’m using about 2907MB/8191MB of video memory) i5-8400 GTX 1070 8GB DDR4 @ 2666 470w PSU 1TB 7200rpm HDD

I'm finishing up a build and I need a graphics solution. Seeing the state that the GPU market is (still) in, I decided to head over to the used market. I managed to talk a 1070 to $350. Is this worth it? I don't know much about the used market.

Hi All, Could someone give me a recommendation of the cheapest reasonable quality laptop that can meet the following specs: 32GB ram, 1070 graphics, some processing oomph. Some variability could be accepted on the graphics, but it’s going to be used intensively, so it needs to be around that real world power. Machine is primarily for use with Agisoft Photoscan in the field – so basically a graphics workstation, but most definitely does not need Quadro capabilities. Approved suppliers at work are coming up with seemingly overpriced goods that have extras like that because they only do “business” equipment. BTW, I'm in the UK.

Still tad overpriced, but given that most 1070's are still going for around $500, it's a relatively good deal, especially since its the hybrid cooler which usually adds another $60-$90 on top. https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6278-RX

Hello, from few monts im struugling how to make my games run good again, i think it started with the creators update that i tried to avoid for a long time. Once I updated i noticed Nioh started to stutter and loose frames from time to time so I decided to roll back but the problem persisted. After few months I did a clean install and now im on creators update again but on a fresh new version. I was playing ni no kuni and it was playable and the frame rates were consistent , but once i started ffxv i think there is something off. CPU during the game runs at full speed 3.6ghz on all 4 cores and when the usage is not 100% the framerates are quite stable but when the usage hits 100% frames starts to drop to about 40 or so. GPU does not want to run at full speed dough just like in the picture. I googled a benchmark on youtube and in the video i saw that both CPU and GPU run full power while mine doesnt want to work. I have exactly the same specs: i5 6600k (not overclocked), 1070 and 16GB of ram. I have enabled xmp in the bios if anybody asked. System is on SSD and the game is on HDD that was recently formated and defragmented. My mobo is Asus z710 with additional software installed as in the screenshot. Windows is also set on high performance. Any ideas how to squese something more from my games? ]

Greetings. I'm looking to buy new working station for myself, however struggle to pick the right one. The laptops i'm currently looking at, have i7-7700HQ CPU, 16GB of RAM with ability to upgrade up to 32GB, 1080p display, quite thin format and decent amount of ports and they do include TB3 & SD card reader. What makes me struggle, is few choices I have to make. If i want to go sleek design and best portability - it is Aero 15/15x without a doubt. It is as small, as possible with the tech i need and has great battery(94Wh). Another laptop, which is smaller, MSI GS63 7RG, but it has far worse battery (50Wh), and not super cheaper, to make the choice towards it. On the other side, we have a ROG GL503VS, which is a bit larger, has worse battery life, but has 1070 and 144Hz display. Notes: From "demanding" games I play World of Warcraft, Overwatch & Just Cause 3. So, not super modern FPS, but still. For other uses i'm sure both, 1060 & 1070, will perform as I need them to. Now to the questions: 1.) How superior is 1070 to 1060? 2.) Will I get 120+ frames in above mentioned games on 1070 on ROG laptop? 3.) Will I get 60+ frames in above mentioned games on 1060 on Gigabyte laptop? 4.) Some experienced reviewers or just people, who investigated for quite a bit, whats about the heat output on both of those models? Are they able to handle the 1070 or it will throttle more? Extra questions: 5.) Do you know any other laptops, which are similar to Aero 15? In other words, have similar tech and ports as well as great battery life? (75Wh+). 6) If I will go for 1060, is there anything else on "cheap" segment price wise, like Helios 300, or it's the best value option at all? 7.) Is there anything, like ROG laptop, but with better price or it's best deal for 120Hz+ & 1070 available? 8.) Is it worth waiting for i7-8700h (or whatever its called) and/or for GTX 20xx, which are speculated to be presented on GTC? Would you wait? (I have 860m & 4720hq at the moment). Thank you everyone in advance for making it to this point as well as, hopefully, leaving your comment here. P.S. I reposted this from my reddit thread, as it didn't deliver the answers I needed. Excuse me in advance, if similar topics were discussed here and there as i didn't bother to search right now. Pretty tight on time at the moment and better ask in advance.

I am planning out my first self-built PC, and my budget is just able to squeeze in a gtx-1070(8gb), even though most people have tried to convince me that a 1060 was enough for 1080p 60hz gaming. I would just like to go that extra way since my budget allows it, but since I won't have the money available until the end of July anyway, and that is the time rumored to be the release of the first couple of models of the Volta generation, I was wondering if the gtx-1170/2070 (whatever it's called) would be reasonable for me, or if it was absolutely needed, and I should re-prioritise my whole budget, or maybe even that the prior generation would fall enough in price that I could go up to a 1070ti, or 1080?

I'm buying a 1440p 144hz monitor here soon and I'm wondering if I should SLI or wait for Volta to eventually release.

Hello everyone, so I have a gigabyte geforce gtx 1070 windforce oc edition and today when I was plugging in an hdmi cable, the graphics card just stopped working. I have another monitor that was already plugged into through the dvi port. I have tried restarting the pc, taking out the graphics card and putting it back in, and unplugging and plugging in cables and nothing has worked. When I go into the bios, it says that nothing is in the PCI slot. If anyone could help me with this it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So i was wondering if the EKWB Fluid Gaming A240G would be enough to cool a i5-7500 and later a overclocked i7-7700k and a 1070 overclocked also. And if possible what would my temps look like?

Hi, I've got an I7 4770 with 16 GB 1600Mhz ddr3 ram and a GTX 1070 ti zotac mini. Even though this System should be more than good enough to play every modern game on ultra settings with 60+ fps high quality games like AC Origins or Wolfenstein 2 run really poorly even at low settings. Actually it runs fine on max settings on like 50-60 frames but if i put the settings down there is no improvement in fps but the GPU usage stays at 100% and the CPU is just chilling at 50. In less quality games gpu and cpu usage is low and frames are fine, if i put the quality up, gpu usage goes up, and till it reaches 100% frames stay pretty much the same. I tried everything, from putting power management mode to prefer maximum performance to reinstalling all drivers with ddu, newest drivers are installed too, and newest version of windows 10. I have no idea what to do anymore, please help me... Thank you.

Hi All, I'm very new to PC builds and I know my way around the build a bit but need help with an issue I'm having. I'm Animator/Designer and switched from Mac about a year ago for the expandability, power and price-point PCs offered. I bought a gaming PC from Micro Center and recently purchased a 1070 TI with the intention of running that with my current 1070 for 3D rendering in Octane. When I had my buddy help my install the 1070 ti along with a new PSU, Thermaltake 1250w, the PSU fried when we tried to boot. Returned that PSU, tried again and had the exact same issue. What am I doing wrong? haha. I'm about to move everything into a new Corsair 460x and wanted to figure out my issue so I don't blow another PSU lol. My PC specs: Motherboard: ASRock z170 gaming K6, CPU: Intel i7-6700k New PSU: EVGA 1000 G+ GPUs: Zoltac 1070 & Gigabyte 1070 TI Memory: 4x8gb
