  1. Morning, Curious if any of you know of some gaming laptops that might have HDMI-Out and HDMI-In? My use case would be to dock my switch while I'm mobile. (Tears of The Kingdom has it's hooks in me atm) Searching here for a solutions, using an HDMI cap card such as an Elgato to give you a jerry-rigged HDMI-Input but with some delay isn't really something I want to do. I don't want the delay. I have found a non-gaming laptop but this would be a major downgrade from my current rig minus the OLED screen. Google is only giving me hdmi-out laptops. I am seeing posts saying high end Alienware laptops used to include hdmi-in as well as other random machines. Just not finding them. Lugging a separate monitor isn't an option unfortunately. If anyone knows of any unicorns please share. =D -Marc
  2. So I cleared the CMOS and yolo'd it with both sticks in the optimized slots and it worked! I missed the BIOS prompt initially and have been in windows setting up stuff and everything is working great! So I need to enter into the BIOS and fiddle with anything still?
  3. It's my 2nd AMD build but my last one used all 4 slots so 1st time this is coming up.
  4. Thanks MrMase! I will attempt in the morning. I'm all out of fight for today. How long have these "optimized slots been a thing? I've always used slots 1&3 just by default.
  5. Hi LTT Fam, Just did a new build, had windows installed/updated along with most of my apps. Was working great with no issues! Build specs: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS (bios version stock, can't see exact version now) G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin SDRAM (PC4-25600) SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD with Heatsink 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe EVGA SuperNOVA 850 T2 220-T2-0850-X1 80+ TITANIUM 850W RTX 3050 Phanteks Eclipse P500A Case On the the windows install restarts I was getting: "Memory modules were found on non-optimized slot" and said I should move them. So I figured what the heck, I'll move them to the slots it wants. So went from slots 1&3(A1/B1) to 2&4(A2/B2) like it suggested. Power back on, everything lights up/fans spinning and not booting... I tried the previous RAM positions, 1 stick in every position... nada. Only thing I can think of that I didn't do/possibly messed up was when I switched the RAM to the optimized slots I didn't unplug the power from PSU while I swapped the sticks around. The PC was completely shut down but I understand power is still running into the mobo and things can happen. No power cables were jostled, nothing booped. Could swapping sticks around while it was plugged in fry something? I build on an anti static mat and always touch the table/case/case metal before sticking my paws in there. Kind of at a loss for what to do next. Think this is my 8th build or so and never had anything like this happen. Maybe I should reset the CMOS? I have heard of that but never actually had to do it and am unsure if it will help. Any ideas you all have would be appreciated. Thanks, Marc
  6. Smart switch is something I've been waiting for. Hate re-adding all my apps one by one when I get a new phone! Should be seamless and just happen!
  7. I have been using giant keyboards for quite a while. I have a Razer Black Widow Stealth as my main desktop rig and a Razer Lycosa for my XB1 keyboard/mouse setup. Using a Logitech G11 with my laptop these days and kinda hate how big it is for my laptop setup and have been eyeballing a 60% board for a while and think the Pok3r may be the one. Price aint bad but winning would be nice of course!

  9. Very lame about the patent trolling, hate assholes that do that! Scum of the earth looking to turn a quick buck, so predatory! Anyways, I did not know I wanted a Mineral oil pc until I saw this. And omg... I would love to have this on display in our living room, just as you would an awesome fish tank. I figure it can be an top end gaming pc/media server. I would love to show this off to friends who came over, it would be so cool! ATX would be for me since i have a spare ATX mobo! great series of vids guys! And thanks Puget for making this possible in the 1st place! -Fry

  11. Dear LTT Community, Mother-in-law's laptop ( hp 15-b129wm ) is of slim design and has one of these slim/low-profile Ethernet ports. I am having the hardest time finding a wire/dongle to use this port. Any ideas on what I need? Dongle looks like this one, all the way on the left. I know there are USB-Ethernet adapters but I want to utilize the Ethernet port on the laptop! Thanks! Fry
  12. I have a 17inch Asus G series purchased in 2010 that I love but it's on it's way out. My favorite thing about the g550jk is the lower noise and heat! The 17inch i have with the dual blowers is loud and hot! Thing heats up the room around me! Would love a new rig with better noise and thermals! =D -Fry
