  1. That's literally it. I'd forgotten the name. Winkey + tab, make a new desktop, sit my work there. Beautiful. Thank you <3
  2. That is a feature I didn't know about! No, I'd like something similar to how easy that is, but that would tab into "Work Mode"
  3. Hey there, I don't post too often but I have a question that I figured would make me feel a lot more productive at home. I'm a third year CompSci/ProManagement student and I honestly get distracted by Overwatch, and a bunch of other stuff really easily. So I have this idea, that when I turn on my PC, Chrome loads; with a tab of my Google Sheets which has all the work I need to do this week, the calls I need to make and also a bunch of other life stuff, as well as my other tabs. (This bit was easy), just set chrome to launch at start-up and set chrome to open the tabs I want as I go, however here is where maybe it gets more complicated? I'd also like it if I could hit like a buttom on my taskbar that allows me to switch from whatever i'm probably doing *Youtube, Hearthstone and whatever else*, and tab into Word, Sublime, Filezilla and have them all arrange on my desktop neatly so I can just begin work like that. I feel like in my memory Windows 7 used to do this, but I wanted to know if anyone else has a similar set-up / desire and has a super effective way to do it?
  4. I'm using a 7970 and I can't run Overwatch in Ultra and maintain a solid 60fps during competitive play. This would be huge for me.
  5. I haven't bought a new SSD, I literally just unplug and replug the exact same SSD and this is a brand new build as of 3 months, so no cloning.
  6. My budget is value for money, not a figure. If it's expensive I'm more than willing to save up a little longer. Quality and Value for money is what I'm looking at.
  7. Sorry to confuse, my ISP is my University. I'm not too concerned about privacy, I don't plan on doing anything that breaks the rules; or not often anyway, I'm just so used to being able to use this service that I feel kind of gimped without it.
  8. I was pretty skeptical at first, but seeing as it's university internet; I'm a lot more open to believe that it's the case. Regardless of .torrent files (I only really use magnet) if I open them, they just sit there and don't start. I tried pretty extensively to google a solution and tried a few concepts that just didn't work.
  9. I gave you a PM @Gofspar and I think I do, they've blocked the downloading of .torrents as well so I assume there are other methods in place.
  10. Hey there. I've got a 4 month Samsung 840 Pro, it's been pretty fantastic as my primary boot drive. However one day, my PC failed to boot. When booting it stated that there was no detectable boot drive and also no USB were working (My Razer Blackwidow 2013 didn't light up green or function like it usually did to use the on screen options) I tried making sure all the tables were plugged in correctly, gave the SSD itself a look and the motherboard and everything seemed to be fine. No matter how many times I restarted, no boot. However, if I unplug the SATA cable from my 840 pro, but leave in the power cable and boot my PC, I still have no bootable SSD however my keyboard functions correctly so I can go to the BIOS. Once I'm at the BIOS if I plug in the SATA cable into my 840 pro while my PC is on, and restart; the 840 Pro is detected and it boots just fine and USB functions fine. However I can't restart my PC without this problem occuring so I have to keep the side window off and use sleep until it happens again, is there any way of fixing this orrrr?
  11. Hey there. I'm a student on a limited budget and I've been using my 24" 1080p TN Panel for nearly 5 years now. It's my only screen and i've long since thought about buying a second so I can multitask better. I used to be a pretty heavy gamer so it would have been used for main gaming on one screen and a web browser on the other or Teamspeak3 however since moving to University just having two screens to work from would make a huge difference. I'll be making the new monitor my main and make my current old one my secondary screen. The reasons I need my new monitor are: My current monitor only supports DVI so I can't plug in HDMI for my Wii U (and Smash 4 is coming out soon so this is a must) It's a crappy TN so it sucks for watching movies when friends are round. I have a 1440p capable set up. 4770k, H100i, 280x that'll be replaced with a couple of 970's in the future. Productivity A bigger screen would just be all round great. With these reasons in mind, could anyone recommend me a decent monitor at a decent price (Just because I'm a student doesn't mean I'm broke. I work nearly full time as well and I enjoy budgeting to treat myself every now and then. If it's a super cheap 1080p IPS 27"+ Monitor then i'd be interested in seeing it, but otherwise a 25/6/7" IPS 1440p would be ideal. TIA!
  12. I use torrenting to share files between my friends and family and all of a sudden my ISP has blocked DHT so no torrents start. Is there a way of dealing with this?
  13. Hey there, I've made a couple of threads on different things about networking issues since moving to a university dorm and they've all been sorted pretty quickly. I grant myself with a pretty good knowledge on computers in general, but I'm kind of a networking novice. I use torrents quite a bit to share files with my online community (completely legitimately by the way) but I believe my university believes that torrenting = piracy which is kind of a pain in the ass. One day I got home and all my torrents were stuck "Looking for peers" and I'm unable to download .torrent files to boot. I've googled a couple of soloutions, like changing the random port and forcing some utorrent settings and I've even tried using different clients, but to no avail. Has anyone experienced issues like this or would you be able to fix this / get around this and if not; how it works just for better understanding as a learning experience. Thanks.
  14. Your explanation was more than enough. I figured it out from that. I feel I'm pretty able just a bit out of my depth when it comes to networking. Wifi works fine now and so does the switch portion. Just disabled modem mode and DHCP. The wifi range is pretty crap though. Are there any options I can use to help sort this, or can someone recommend me a router sub £90 that will be good.
