  1. Hey guys, I'm looking for a controller for my PC, preferably wireless and I was going to just pick up an Xbox 360 controller but I hate the d-pad with a passion on that thing. Then I came across the Razer Sabertooth, it looks perfect for me, but I don't think I can justify the extra cost (around an extra 30 dollars) just for a d-pad that I could be happy with. Has anyone got any thoughts/know if the sabertooth has any other features that may actually make the extra money worth it? or should I just suck it up and buy the 360 controller and just avoid using the d-pad as often as I can.
  2. Actually, if you've watched what Linus has been saying about Mantle, you'll know that it's not the same system as what the consoles have, it's close, but still different. According to DICE, the code for mantle is closer to the console coding than DirectX but is not just a straight copy.
  3. Sadly, Amazon no longer ships Chromecasts to Australia, seems that was only a temporary thing. Part of me is wondering whether Google found out about this and shut it down, or whether this was a decision made by Amazon to stop shipping them. Either way, it looks like I'll have a wait a bit longer to get my Chromecast
  4. Hey, I wasn't sure exactly which section to post this on so I picked peripherals cause this seemed to fit best, if this is the wrong section, I apologise and would be happy to move it to the correct section if someone could point out what that would be. I really want to pick up a chromecast, though I live in Australia. Amazon has said that they will/have shipped chromecasts to Australia, however, in the FAQs, google has said there is no support for the chomecast in any region other than North America at this point in time. Is google just saying that because their play store doesn't ship to Australia or is the chromecast somehow region locked to America? If anyone here in Australia has one, I would love to hear from them, or if anyone knows whether one would work out of the box here, that would be great. Cheers.
  5. Actually the K70 Brown is out. I bought one on amazon and have typed this message on it http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EU5WIDS/ref=pe_385040_30332190_pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 As my answer to the OP. The K70 brown has everything you want, except it only comes in grey with Blue Backlighing, which looks amazing to me, but if you really want white/red lights then sadly this won't do. I think Corsair mentioned that they were thinking of releasing the browns with the Red backlight at a later date, but I haven't heard anything about that for a while. As far as I know, the only keyboard that matches your specs is the g710+, but anyone, feel free to correct me.
  6. I can't remember where I saw this, but there was rumours of a November 22 release date for the PC. But if I remember correctly, they weren't confirmed, so it could all be speculation, just something to look out for really.
  7. The only reason I ever saw for apple moving to 64-bit, was to say to, we were the first to do it. Also it sets them up for the future when 64-bit will be relevant, so smart move, but as long as they don't try to make it look like it makes them head and shoulders above the rest, cause it really doesn't.
  8. Yeah, I'm thinking that since there is absolutely no word at all that I can find regarding if/when they will be released here, Amazon is looking like a very attractive option, plus it seems I might be able to get one relatively cheap through them, a K70 at Umart, my usual store here in Brisbane, is $165, whereas the Brown switch K70 on Amazon is $131 with shipping. I might just have to go with that option.
  9. Hey, I can't find anything at my usual computer stores regarding the release of the K70s in Brown switches here in Australia. Has anyone on here heard anything or have any thoughts on where I could go to find out? I'm pretty sure I can order them to be shipped in off Amazon or even NCIX, but I would rather not pay the extra for shipping and then wait 2 weeks or however long it will take to get here from the states only to find that it's been released here. So unless there really is no word at all on a release date here I would rather not go that way.
  10. I heard rumours on the corsair forums that the blue/brown switches would be available in the other colours including black with red lighting around december, but nothing was confirmed, so it could have just been heresay, but it was from RAMGuy who I believe is a corsair rep. on the forums.
  11. Clears are really just a heavier Brown, the bump is a little more noticeable due to the heavier press, I kinda like them but I prefer the speed of the browns. You can easily compare the difference between the browns and clears by comparing Reds and Blacks, the difference in the press is the same just add the tactile bump.
  12. The 240 looks like my old Pallit 8600GTS, why the hell would anyone build stuff like that these days
  13. Sony did this with the PS3 as well, I studied marketing for a bit and this is known as the Razors and blades strategy, in which, you sell the main hardware (the razor/console) at a loss and make up for that loss in sales of accessories (the spare baldes/controllers, games, PSN subscriptions etc) in the bigger picture, it turns a profit and makes the initial purchase of the console much more accessible, it's the same reason that printer ink is so expensive but printers are so cheap, same strategy, and in my opinion, a smart move by Sony as one of the big talking points of the new console war is price and Sony wins on that one.
  14. This is awesome, however, I think Nvidia needs to make Physx available to license to other companies, especially AMD, so that you don't need an Nvidia GPU in order to run it. I don't think it would affect sales of their cards too much and it would allow them to slap some of their branding on even AMD gaming evolved titles, win win for everybody I think. Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't they allowed Physx to be run on the AMD based consoles?
  15. I'm a big fan of CLG myself, them and TSM, but as has been pointed out above, Regi is becoming a bit of an issue of late.
  16. Yeah they did, and, after being sued for it, the two companies came to an agreement where as long as Apple Computers stuck to making PCs and Apple Records stuck to making music, they could happily co-exist. That was, until Apple released iTunes basically breaching the terms of this agreement. Apple Records sued again after this but I think finally, Apple computers won some sort of court case and beat Apple records (though this is where my knowledge of the case falls off, I can't remember the final outcome so feel free to dispute my last point there)
  17. The TV is 18 months old now, so out of warranty. However, I have contacted Sony and they put me in contact with a repairer who has confirmed the issue is the Panel itself and so will cost more than it's worth to fix. However, since the TV is so young apparently Sony might offer an out of warranty assistance deal to help pay for the new panel. So now all I have to do is wait for word from Sony and hopefully they will help me out so I don't have to fork out for a new TV.
  18. Yeah I had a quick look, main reason I decided to post this myself was that I was looking for an answer that catered to my specific wants/needs. Though that Mionix looks quite good, I can't get it from my usual computer shops and the Razer is around half the price of it if I buy the Goliathus from the retailer versus buying the Mionix online, so that becomes a factor too. Thanks for the input though I might look at mionix's stuff, they have caught my eye lately, had no idea they did mousepads to be honest.
  19. Hey, I'm very soon going to be upgrading my mouse, and to go with it, I want to grab a proper gaming mouse pad to get the full advantage of a good gaming mouse. I'm currently torn between the Razer Goliathus Control Edition and the Steelseries QCK. The Razer because I've heard a few people rave about how good it is, and the Steelseries because it comes with several design options, however I do not know much about how the QCK performs. Anyone have any thoughts on either of these mats and which one would be best? I will point out that I am looking for a more precise/control mouse pad rather than one designed for speed.
  20. This thread on the Corsair forums mentions the 5th of August, the delay being caused by having to back order the switches from Cherry. http://www.overclock.net/t/1397260/corsair-k70-mx-blue-brown-in-gunmetal-color/20 It seems I am not the only one hanging out for these switch options rather desperately :P
  21. Hey my TV just randomly started showing a weird green tinge to the picture that slowly fades away with I turn it on. Also, when I change channel, or do anything like bring up the menu, it leaves a ghosted image of what was last on the screen. I have no idea what the problem is or what caused it. The TV is a Sony Bravia 40" LCD smart Tv. Would anyone here be able to tell what the nature of the problem is and whether I should try to get it fixed or if I should just buy a new one. I'll attach a picture for reference. ignore the no signal thing, I unplugged all cables from the TV.
  22. There is a great pack that WASD keyboards sells that includes samples of all the cherry MX switches for you to try, I've ordered mine just eagerly awaiting its arrival :) http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/wasd-sampler-kit.html
  23. It's definitely viable, check out Logan's Tek Syndicate Channel on Youtube (razethew0rld), in the playlists section there will be builds for differing price points and there should be a $400 - $500 build guide there. That should at least give you an idea of what kind of parts to buy.
  24. I've decided to rule out the R.A.T. 7 mainly because, after seeing some of the posts on here then doing some research, it seems that the sensor the cyborg mice use it ridiculously picky about what surface you use it on and even the smallest hair or bit of dust in the wrong place can throw it out and it will refuse to work properly. Shame too because I really love the shape and options on that mouse. So out of those two, the Razer is the winner. However, I am open to suggestions for other mice if anyone here knows of any good mice with a similar, slightly flatter shape, preferably with weight customisation options. I was going to get the g500s but my ancient mx518 is starting to feel wrong in my hands which is why I'm looking for a new mouse and, from what I've seen, the g500s is basically the same shape.
  25. Hey guys I'm trying to decide which mouse I want to get in the next month or so and I have narrowed it down to basically the R.A.T. 7 from Cyborg and the Razer Ouroboros mainly for their customisability and overall shape. I'm just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with either of these mice and if so, any thoughts on how they perform? I'm especially curious about the wireless on the Razer as I'm a little hesitant to use a wireless gaming mouse which is why I chose the R.A.T. 7 and not the 9.
