Hey all, so for anyone's who's had experience with setting up a local git server, what sort of NAS would you guys recommend to me? I'm looking for a sub-300 dollar system, preferably 2 drives for redundancy?? (Though I'm not sure how useful that is). After googling around, the company Synology keeps popping up, but I'm not sure if that's the default go-to brand everyone knows, or there are better options out there. Thanks!

Thanks man, read the post. Since I'll need double floating point calculations, I guess quadro is the way to go. Is there a roundabout minimum price that I should be spending? Like with geforce cards, you wouldn't get a GTX 720, it's just dumb for the money you pay for, you would expect to pay around at least 250 to 300 bucks for a Geforce card that makes it worth over just going integrated graphics or AMD's APU line. Is there something equivalent for Quadro?

End goal....have it stock trade for me (rolls eyes yes I know everyone's tried and failed). But for the meantime, since its a neural network, been meaning to test out my code on learning how to talk through analyzing the FFT data of speech with a stream of incoming IPA symbols, essentially a text to speech that doesn't sound like crappy google's TTS or SIRI.

Haha, it's cropped up recently, a neural network with node/connection designs that are implemented through evolution by natural selection principles, but nothing revolutionary. Many have done it and, yeah it is really cool so I'm hopping on the hype train.

Between Geforce or Quadro, why does NVIDIA differentiate between the two? Is it just like ECC vs non-ECC ram, being that Quadros are workstation-typed so they are more reliable?

I'm developing a neural network from the ground up in C# implementing the NEAT algorithm. Going to be using the CUDAfy.NET libraries unless you would recommend a different library for CUDA programming in C#.

What's the recommended GPU for running CUDA based programming? I'm planning to use CUDA within my code but a GTX 660TI isn't gonna cut it for running a neural network. Should I go the newest NVIDIA gpu on the block? 1080TI? Or should I look into their quadro series. I have no idea what the quadro is used other than in workstation environments.

Best analogy I've heard is the use of a waterfall. Voltage really comes from charge differences. That's like the height of a waterfall. Current (amps) is the amount of electrons flowing per time. That is like the volume of water flowing down the waterfall. Together the product allows you to determine the work done, or watts. More water but less height is analogous to less water but more height. If this makes total sense to you, it's a mere coincidence since my dad explained it to me this way when I was 5 too . -
I disagree, however, I did find myself being somewhat annoyed that there was never really an English secondary translation on road signs. Here in Toronto, when I go on the 401 west, next to it there's a Ouest. Or east being Est. While I did know how to read the signs when I was in Quebec, I couldn't help but notice the lack of secondary English translation.

If I remember correctly, it's just a 10 minute drive northeast of Quebec City. It was an amazing experience to walk over the bridge that goes across the falls. And yeah I plan to work at Bombardier. There's one in Toronto, but I figure that once I graduate, it'll be pretty hard to get into that. It's nice to work in a more aerospace friendly province, and having the Canadian Space Agency there is also an added bonus

Nah that was another person. But I did pass by Montreal. I mainly went sightseeing and walking around Quebec city. I went to Montmorency Falls which was spectacular. Honestly speaking, one day I might just relearn French and move to Quebec lol. I mean you guys do have a pretty awesome aerospace industry, which fits perfectly with my soon to acquire aerospace degree.

Heh, I road tripped to Quebec City a month ago and kept on asking "Parlez-vous anglais?". I wish I remembered my high school french. Quebec City looked amazing.

^This guy speaks the truth. To all the naysayers of college/uni, you're wrong. You won't get the same information online. Do you expect to become a certified engineer or doctor by just reading online? At the same time, going to post secondary for career that doesn't need it just to "boost up" your resume isn't exactly a good idea. Go to wherever will get you to where you want to go.

Lol? Who needs that at a university level????? If this doesn't solve indefinite integrals or differential equations, at a university level it is useless.
