  1. Long story short, I scavenged some money from somewhere and bought a pair of EV EKX 15p for 650 each new from a local dealer. It was a deal I couldn't really pass up. He showed me some RCF sub brand speakers for 199 each and another for 500 a pair, but I am still a firm believer of buy once and buy quality. Thank you all for your suggestions, but I can only chose one "solution" for the forum. I will be giving it to braaap for the troubleshooting steps, although I would give it to all others if possible. Thank you all for your help. If I remember, I will come back and let you all know what the experience is like with the new speakers.
  2. @anothertom I was doing a little more research, and I just found a store near me that was selling JBL PRX-815s for 650 each. I asked through email if he would be willing to do 2 for 1200 for cash, which might be accepted. Would those be worth the slight price increase? Also, the reason I wasn't looking at Behringers was because my understanding based on reading various articles and forums was that Behringer was cheaply made and generally low quality products. I felt around the Mackie a little bit while I was in Guitar Center, and when I knocked on it, the walls sounded very thin, and the overall build quality looked very poor, which is why I shyed away from them. I've never heard of Turbosound, so I have no opinion of them.
  3. Sorry for taking so long to respond, guys. School is keeping me very busy. @Himommies My father used to play at Armenian weddings with a band with the Polysix in the 1980s and used the Twin Reverb as his primary source of sound for the performances. That is why we have it in the first place. We do plug everything into the mixer, and then go from the mixer to both the 5 inch monitors and the amp. As stated before, my budget is preferably up to a thousand dollars. If I can get something significantly better for a little more, that is also acceptable. @braaap247 I tested the PA3x and Polysix plugged into the amp directly today. Input and Master on the Fender were at 10, and both the Polysix and PA3x were plugged into the Vibrato ports. When only sounds were played on either keyboard with the volume turned reasonably up, there was no distortion. Once the rhythm was turned on on the PA3x, the sound became extremely garbled and distorted. So I think the problem is not with instruments or vocals on their own, but their combination with a rhythm. Also, I believe the Yamaha DSR line is a wooden case with a plastic coating, and the QSC K12.2 is the same thing, as far as I read/was told. I am worried about quality if I get a plastic case, or sound quality if I get a cheaper speaker. My motto is, unfortunately, if you are going to buy something, you might as well buy something that lasts. I am looking for a powered speaker(s). @anothertom I think my comments for braaap247 also apply to what you suggested. Also, which Behringer specifically are you talking about.
  4. Hello All, I have some questions. I play music at our house in an outdoor environment with my dad and another of his friends. We have 2 synthesizers, a PA3x and a Polysix, an accordion, a mic for vocals, and a miced Armenian Dhol. We play for around 40 people with the farthest person being around 60 feet away at our or our family friends' houses. I currently have a Fender Twin Reverb, 2 KRK RP5s, and 2 JBL LSR305s. All the instruments plug into a mixer, a Samson MXP124FX, and then the outputs of the mixer go to the studio monitors and the headphone out goes to the Fender Amp. The problem that I have with this set up is that when we start to turn the volume up, the amp starts to garble the sound, and the speakers stop sounding as clear. So naturally, I was looking into buying a good speaker that could replace all of that with 1 speaker, maybe 2 in the future. I was originally looking at the Yamaha DSR15, but when I walked into Guitar Center to get their opinion, The employee suggested that I should get the new QSC 12.2, claiming that it would be louder and better quality. He also said that the Mackie Thump 15s were a good option at a low cost, despite a lower build quality. I don't want to spend more than a thousand dollars, and I would prefer it to be a wooden case. What do you guys think I should do. I have never officially dealt with audio like this, nor have I invested this much in audio before, so I want to make sure I make the right decision. I'm still on the fence as to whether I should buy a new speaker at all, because I should really be spending that money on more important things, but we'll see. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
  5. Thanks. I asked one of the guys in the cyber security club I'm a part of and they suggested the same thing. It keeps turning on for now, so I must be doing something right. As far as the factory reset goes, My serial cable was non functional. I changed the cable and I was able to type in the console again. Thanks for your help.
  6. Hello, I just purchased a used Palo Alto PA-4050, and the seller seems to not have changed their password for the management options. Is there a way to do a hard factory reset, or any other way to access the management console? The default username/password or admin/admin is not working. Also, is there a power switch or anything of that sort, or is it safe to just pull the plug on it? I don't know how to correctly power it off, but I need to turn it off since I am only temporarily working on it at this location. If I sound like a noob, it's because this is my first firewall. I am studying CIT and I thought it would be good for my education if I could buy one of these to work on at home. Any help is appreciated.
  7. How about the Razer Blade 14? Same aesthetic as a macbook but much more powerful. Its about the same price as the surface book right now, I think.
  8. I think the drawback of humans playing is that they have emotions, and they have the ability to become nervous. That is what Kasparov said after he played Deep Blue. Computers don't care about that is going on around them, or how complicated a situation on the board is, they just go on doing their calculations. He also said that humans fail in very dense and complicated situations, as they can lose track of what happens after each subsequent variation and eventually make a mistake. That won't happen in computers. ON a separate note, deep blue was said to have been able to do 200 million calculations per second. How would that compare to in today's machines? If we are doing billions or trillions of calculations per second, how long would it take for every important variation to be completely played out and a victory found for the computer, assuming that the computer could differentiate between good and useless positions. Humans would have no chance of winning. I don't know about computer being dumbed down for grandmasters, have never heard of it. Is that actually true? About AI, I don't know if it is true or not, but it is expected that within the next ten years, we will have computers that will operate faster than the human brain and will likely contain the code necessary for self learning. It is a very frightening concept. Look at the Google Car, or Tesla's self driving system. We are already almost there, basically. I don't think the complete automation of life is very far off. Wall-e, here we come. Prepare for blended food and floating chairs.
  9. Do you guys think people like Carlsen, Kramnik, Aronian, Caruana, etc. could stand up to some of the super computers of today if one was purpose built to process chess? I'm really beginning to doubt whether a person could win considering the speeds of today's computers. The Deep Blue that "beat" Kasparov was made of 120Mhz dedicated chess chips. What if you throw in a few 32 thread 3 Ghz dedicated chip from today, along with some of today's graphics processors? I understand it would take an immense time to create the software and faster hardware would also be available. I also understand that building a dedicated machine like this is not as simple as taking hardware and throwing into a machine then loading software onto it, but still. Use some imagination. I'm just trying to start a conversation here. I think it's an interesting topic to consider.
  10. Apparently, there was a restriction within the router that was preventing me from accessing the content in the website. I have no idea how it got there, but I just removed it and everything is working now. Thank you guys for your help. BTW, out of all the browsers that I tried, which include the big three plus safari and opera, the only one that worked was tor browser, probably because it was bypassing the restrictions from the router. What a strange occurrence.
  11. Bump please. This is still a problem. Do you guys think that trying a different router would help? Or maybe asking for a replacement from the ISP? The problem didn't exist before this new router, so my best guess is that the router is the problem and not the computer itself.
  12. It's not a hardware problem. I apparently have to subscribe to their "Premium Support" service for 10 months minimum for them to even look at the problem beyond basic troubleshooting tasks.
  13. Didn't work. That would have been too easy... That's why I am so confused. It is not giving an error. It finishes loading the page according to the browser and then nothing is displayed. It's just a blank page. I have tried accessing the website from other computers in my house and on phones and it works fine there. I don't understand why it won't work here...
  14. Hello, For some reason, Head-fi.org is not loading on my computer. I have tried chrome, firefox, and microsoft edge, and have isolated it to my computer only. All other websites that I browse are working fine. I am using wifi from the onboard network adapter on my Rampage V Extreme. This problem only came up when I upgraded to the Fios Quantum router a few days ago, and they are going to charge me $150 to even try to fix it. I would like to avoid that. I am running Windows 10 Pro, and have an up to date wifi driver installed to the best of my knowledge. If you would like to know anything else, please let me know and I will inform you. Thank You for your time. ~Vartan
