  1. ^^ Whould like to see some more Linux questions 'round here! Btw, what distro are you running?
  2. I love Intellij IDEA because I can write code fast, has support for almost every lang (if you get Ultimate (free for students)) and the interface is great. But just like any other IDE you will become lazy if you use it a lot, and won't understand your code as good as if you just use a text editor. So in that case i would recommend Vi/Vim. There are also a lot of plug-ins for Vim which will make it look and behave more like a IDE.
  3. Microsoft dreamspark is the only way to get ISO's of MS products
  4. Dhcp servers is modems aren't that great, or even don't have one. If you're switch supports it, set the dhcp server address on the switch, to the IP of the router. If the switch isn't "managed" just leave it the way you described and enable dhcp on the router. @Kefuren if you set it up the way you describe, you're ping would be a bit on the high side, or even it starts dropping your connection.
  5. check this out: http://www.stardock.com/products/?from=nav They have awesome stuff for windows 8. I think the most can be done by combining a few of there program's.
  6. hi, ATM i'm setting up a server for a local company. I have a good amount of experience with Linux so normally I just hook the server up with Suse, Ubuntu, RHEL etc. But... The IT guy before me just bought some hardware (like a beast Xeon, 4x WD red...) and discovered that his knowledge isn't good enough to just set up everything, so now I can start cleaning some mess up, and I hope some can assist a bit. To kick off: - I have 1 physical server on which i need to do several things (storage, AD, Mobile management, program deployment, print server etc..) - Like i said before, mostly just do all this things on Linux but there is a policy that requires the use of an Microsoft AD server....(stupid policy) - So I can just run Ubuntu, make a VM windows server and done. but that won't work well with my management software and all that kind of stuff. - I also can't use a second server, because that ***** it guy didn't think twice before doing something And then I came across ESXi. so i did some research and this i what i found out (please correct me if i'm wrong): - VMXi is just a hypervisor running directly on the pc HW, so essentially it's an OS for virtualisation. - ESX is the "more features" version. - for interaction with the OS's i need vSphere or vCenter (vCenter is the "more" version) - basically you use it to just run 2 or more OS's side-by-side at the same time (like a VM, but you're host OS is ESXi/ESX) With all that said, what should I do?: - Install VMXi or ESX - vSphere or vCenter (in windows server) - Are there any special HW requirements to run ESXi/ESX - and how is OS support - I have some vmware knowledge, but do I need some special knowledge to config & manage ESX/VMXi It turned out to be a bit long post, so i hope some will have the patience to read it
  7. I was just curious what kind of IT certifications everyone on the forum has, like Cisco CCNA/CCET, MIcrosoft etc. I'll kick off: I'm currently attending my Cisco CCNA routing & Switching. Before that I finished my Cisco IT essentials, CCENT and Comptia A+. My Cisco course is part of my school course so I pay for all the lessons including Dutch, English & math's. But when I want to get my "real" CCNA certification I need to do an exam at an certification institution, where I need to pay like €800-1200 extra for. How is the pricing for this exams in other countries ?, because I find this a lot of money on top of my already sky-high school cost's At the same time I'm also attending ITIL service Foundation & microsoft MCSA for Windows 7 & Windows server 2012. What I like about the MCSA is that if i finish my course I can attend the exam two time for free.
  8. I used Bitdefender also, but I didn't liked the protection that much compered to Kaspersky. On the other hand, i"ll go with GoodBytes if you just want basic protection and not touch you're system speed Windows defender/security essential is the best solution.
  9. hi, I have a problem with the Etrust cookie control popup's. On all websites that use this system (like http://www.vmware.com), it display's a popup where you need to set you're cookie pref's. But when I open the site, the popup keeps loading and i can't proceed to the website. On FF and IE it works np, I tried emptying the cache and I allowed the website in my chrome settings but that didn't do the magic.
  10. Kaspersky, it's not the most lightweight but the functions & protection is awsome. I also run the server edition on my data server and i never had any problems.
  11. I don't know if the NIC is causing you're problem, but if you're sure then u can indeed buy like any Intel NIC. This one seems like a good one: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/network-adapters/gigabit-network-adapters/gigabit-ct-desktop-adapter.html
  12. I have flash CS6, so i can save it on the lowest version (CS5). Can you do something with that ? Also I'm sure it set my document for AS2.
  13. I'm getting a bit depressed here. I have been trying the whole day, but i can't get it done. I get errors all over the place, one moment I have my actions, and a few secs later there gone.... then my buttons are just on other places then where I putted them  I just think actionscript doesn't likes me I also borrowed the "classroom in a book" book, but that's just really to much t learn in this time period. Is there maybe a other (easier) way to do this ? BTW: i have some skills in HTML & CSS, isn't it possible to do this in HTML with some jquery ??
