  1. So I have an old tube TV in my bedroom that I normally use for retro gaming but I recently bought a HDMI to component/VGA converter box and it outputs whatever resolution you input to it but there's a problem and it doesn't natively show up a 480i as a selectable output the lowest is 800x600. I went into the Nvidia control panel and added a custom resolution where I set the resolution to 640x480 and selected interlaced output at 60Hz but Windows shows up as 30Hz and it looks like 240p instead of 480i. Anyone knows whats going on?
  2. I missed the livestream and both the twitch and youtube archives don't wanna play. Is there something wrong with the video?
  3. I think I have lm-sensors installed but idk how to use it. I just wanna monitor my system resources and hardware.
  4. I have a GTX 970. I mostly just want to monitor CPU usage, clock speed, memory usage and GPU usage. Normally I use task manager in Windows for that because it's simple and easy but when I want more detailed into I would use something Like AIDA64 but that doesn't exist on Linux to my knowledge.
  5. So I've recently started using Linux a lot more and I really enjoy it but one of the things I've found a hard time with is monitoring my system resources. Most of the built in applications such as the system monitor application in ubuntu just doesn't have enough information. I've been trying to find third party software but most of it either doesn't work, isn't easy to use or only uses the terminal and I'm really not down for that. I want to have graphs and other detailed information. Also I can't find any software to overclock my GPU in Linux either. To me knowledge there's no MSI afterburner for Linux.
  6. So for years the way disabling the iGPU has worked on my ASUS P8Z77-M Pro is under system agent selecting the primary GPU from iGPU to either PCIE or auto. Normally that disables the iGPU. I can't adjust the clock speed in AI Tweaker and plugging in a display does nothing but now for some reason my iGPU is stuck on and nothing will turn it off. Its eating up nearly 1GB of my system memory at all times and when I change the primary display from iGPU to anything else my Windows 10 refuses to boot. I can see the Windows boot animation and when it's done and is about to go to the login page I get nothing but a black screen and my keyboard doesn't power up. Honestly ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 i've been having these issues but going back really isn't an option for obvious reasons. Any ideas?
  7. So I'm trying to burn wLaunchELF (softmod for PS2) but from what I understand the PS2 optical drive can only read discs at up to 4x speed not 8x or higher. My optical drive will only burn CD-r @ 8x speed minimum. I selected 4x in software when burning the image to disk but my PS2 refuses to read the disk and during the burn process it said requesting 4x but the speed was set to 8x. I'm thinking I either need to flash the optical drive firmware to I can write at 4x speed or I need to find an optical drive that supports 4x CD-r write speed. Any ideas?
  8. Unless it was mint condition someone overpaid. I've seen them online for way cheaper.
  9. Is any of your cables being bent by the side panel? Might have a break in the cable and putting the side panel on caused it to bend the power cable. Could also be a bent case/side panel causing the system to shift around weirdly and it makes your GPU slide out of the slot a bit. Honestly tho i've never heard of this before so maybe you have something pinched.
  10. I have a 3570K @ 4.4 paired with a single GTX 970 and my CPU is often the bottleneck but only when I'm playing games that don't really tax my GPU much and I play at 1080p. Overall though it's enough for 970 class of hardware. I wouldn't go much higher end tho as you will definitely run into CPU bottleneck all the time. Should be fine for 1440p gaming tho also.
  11. My PC wont load the LG page so I can't check the specs atm but the BenQ seems half descent. nothing too special about it tho.
  12. Is this the board you have? https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-78LMT-S2-rev-12#ov
  13. Turn down the brightness. OLED panels tend to get very bright compared to traditional LCD panels as they emit their own light. I know my S7 on max gets stupidly bright and it's not even HDR compatible.
  14. I would go 16GB of ram and find a cheaper case and use that extra money saved on more ram or something. Also I'm sure you can find a cheaper SSD than that if you look a little harder. Consider 120GB because you can find them for around 40$ sometimes.
  15. I would maybe go for a slightly better CPU and 16GB of ram but other than that it's not bad.
  16. Blower fans tend to be louder and not cool as well but the benefit is that the heat is mostly exhausted out of the case so your CPU and stuff doesn't get a ton of heat from your GPU. Overall though i would avoid blower style coolers and go for in case exhaust.
  17. Even if that's true (which I am not aware of) anything but that is fine. Seasonic makes really top quality supplies. Most of their products end up rebranded anyways by other manufactures.
  18. Samsung has some cheaper phones. My friend has a J3 I think it's called and it's not bad for a mid range phone. Might have the wrong model number but have a look around on their website.
  19. Interesting is the least important part of a benchmark. I would argue it's irrelevant unless all you wanna do is look at it but there's no point in that.
  20. just because it says 3000 isn't supported doesn't mean it can't work. Most likely it might not work but they're just saying "no guarantees". if you have to just run the ram at a slower speed.
  21. If newegg sent you the wrong ram I would contact them and ask for a replacement. Also you can always flash your BIOS to a newer version. might help compatibility.
  22. Strange. maybe check for an update or something.
