  2. lol don't you think if i could afford the full set of brass multi links, straight line tubing, waterblocks for ram, cpu and graphics card as well as two radiators and all the extra fans id need i'd HAVE THEM!?
  3. Asus silent bios control means all fans run at 40% power on idle (my power supply fan doesn't even spin)- its incredibly quiet. I've never once seen it run at 100% except on startup when it sounds like a jet starting up.
  4. also dust may come to be a problem, but I'll probably order some custom filters from Demci at some point. Until then. the ole can 'o' air will have to do. especially since the PCI bay was just a millimetre too wide and I couldnt slot the IO panel on.
  5. BEAST YES IT DRIVES ME INSANE. I'm using cable ties and picture framing mounts though and sound foam on the bottom. (you may notice I removed the drive bay completely.(also ugly) unfortunately the shape of the motherboard tray put one slightly off. I'll fix it one day two three four.
  6. Originally this rig was built into a HAF XB - explains the 100i and the RF8's in the side - I agree with Askew - a pair of MONSTAS with some straightline tubing will look seeexxxyyyyyyy> Obviously this case is way more expensive, but the plastic bevel on the front of the HAF ruined it for me. totally ugly. flimsy, it broke. I wanted something made of METAL. think something like this -
  7. Firstly, I'm a total noob. But, After buying a shitty Ultrabook for $800, I decided to get another job and build a proper rig. ALL my knowledge about computer building and parts selection has come from Linustechtips videos, NCIX, and various related forums. Without build guides and unboxings, tips and tricks I literally would have messed this up beyond all belief. After several months and $4500 AUD, I wanted a computer that was upgradeable and expandable, I wanted a computer that could compete against future tech with a bit of help, and I wanted a computer that would be well cooled and enable the parts to produce the best quality for the longest time possible. I also paid for this rig delivering Pizza for 15 dollars an hour so I couldn't afford the greatest in everything and I was only looking to do Audio rendering and Gaming, as well as Auto CAD software. This is the rig. IN WIN D-Frame ATX Chassis Red - I custom painted it Gloss White to match my colour scheme (Black, White, Gold, Silver and Copper) ASUS Z97 PRO Wifi/AC - A very sexy looking board. No bright blue or red plastic. Also came with many of the MAXIMUS series features but cost less than 300 dollars(instead of 500+) i5 4670K 3.4 Ghz - i5 because the new Devils Canyon i7 wasn't out and there were some hyper-threading issues and Battlefield problems on the earlier chips. Corsair Dominator Platinum 1600Mhz 2x 8gb- So sexy. Very expensive. If need be I can go up to 32Gb with another set. EVGA Ge Force 780 Ti Superclocked ACX 3GB - The most expensive part as per usual, but absolutely gorgeous and I didn't want to get two 770s and have them out date themselves. I will eventually run Dual SLI run 4k (when its mainstream. Cbf right now) Corsair H100i - As recommended by Linus. Corsair Link SUCKS,("i" series") but the Radiator is excellent and looks very good tied into the frame with some custom tubing over the standard. Intel 530 240GB SSD's x 2 - One with OS and BF4, The other for games. I helped myself to a 1tb WD Hardrive from an old external to hold spotify cache and music collection. Corsair SP120 - Very nice fans. All running in silent mode on ASUS bios tuning. 7 of them if you count the ones that came with the radiator (the same but without silent mounts) Noctua RF-8 - Originally this rig was built into a HAF XB, so I kept them and wired them in for extra graphics airflow. Custom ATX cable from Modpcuk Razer Peripherals - Black Mamba 2012, Black Widow Ultimate Stealth, Kraken 7.1. Green LED's are annoying but eventually I can sell them for the new RGBs Yamaha 500w Surround sound The copper tubing was originally supposed to carry some wires and LEDS, but I havent been able to get my hands on the appropriate drill bits yet so right now it's just a prop. When 4k really kicks into gear, I'll add another 780ti, another 16gb of ram, upgrade the cpu to an i7, MUCH bigger power supply and then probably do a water cooling rig with straight line acrylic tubing, bitspower multi-link adapters, white fluid and a big ass phobya pump/res tube config with two radiators. Cheers guys, let me know what you think NOOB POWER! Full parts list and pricing at PCCASEGEAR https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=301961&action=wish_lists also if you play battlefield on Australian servers and you have a mic that doesn't make you sound like you're talking out of your own butt add meh! silent_pipes
  8. Hey guys, unfortunately this problem started with the FIRST drivers for the card when I bought it.. so it has been a problem from day one but it has gradually worsened. I have removed the OC from the card, but this hasn't fixed it so I removed all overclocks all together and still no dice. Will try clocking the screen back to 60mhz today and see , but the problem began before clocking so not sure. After running battlefield with all monitoring programs closed i'm sure its not Precision X or Afterburner monitoring that's causing the issue. I have noticed in the Afterburner logs though that both my GPU Usage % and my power consumption seem to be jumping between 100% and 60% like every half second.. still newb so I don't know if this is normal. Basically the card is either maxing out or at just over half but seems unable to find a balance when gaming. I'm also thinking that an NVIDIA optimization may have worsened it, so I guess i'll try bringing down some of the stuff that isn't necessary (atm everything is on ULTRA.) Card temperatures are max 75 degrees (with an OC) and I have an open air chassis with good air flows and high rpm fans . So yeah is it worth tracking back through drivers even if the problem is still there? Cheers guys
  9. Direct X function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The device is hung which is typically caused by issues in the graphics driver or alternatively the application"). GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 To ", Driver: 34052 Hi guys this is the error. it doesnt matter how hard I research the fix to this problem either doesn't work or its just more people with Nvidia cards with the same problem. This error appears randomly after about an hour of gameplay particularly when playing Battlefield but also Bioshock Infinite and various other games. This freezes the game, and the computer, and restarting the game results in the error displaying instantly. The only way to restart the game is to restart the whole machine, lose all your game data for that match and then have it happen again 30 minutes into the next match. All my drivers for EVERYTHING are updated DAILY and after reupdating no change so please no "fuck off and install your drivers" or "its battlefield deal with the $140 pile of coded trash" comments. Please please help. It could be battlefield being the shoddiest and least well made game post 2000 but that doesnt explain why it happens with other, better made games. This has destroyed the point of my brand new $4500AUD build and I'm completely uninterested in using the machine if if a 900 dollar graphics card fails every 30 minutes without saving. Direct X has no website for support, neither does battlefield forums or this or any other forum have any real answers. Thanks guys. halp. pls.
  10. Hi guys, need some guidance here. Based on pure ability to produce 4k in the future, and to get the best possible frame rates on games like battlefield 4, arma 3 and skyrim at present - Should I spend $958 AUD for: 2 x EVGA 770 Dual Superclocked ACX 4GB in Dual SLI -- base clock of 1111Mhz, boost of 1163Mhz, 4096MB 256bit GDDR5, 1536 CUDA Cores. Or Should I spend $859 AUD for 1 x EVGA 780ti Superclocked ACX 3GB -- 1006Mhz base clock, boost of 1072Mhz, 3072MB 384-bit GDDR5, 2880 Cuda Cores and sell a kidney when 4k becomes mainstream to pay for a second one. pls help, and no fanboy shiz I just need to know whether the 780ti is worth not having the extra sexiness of two cards. 11. hey guys, haha obviously a little brash with "future proof" hence the quotation marks. More specifically, what i'm aiming for is: 1 - the maximum amount of hours out of each device due to solid cooling and well managed build to ensure no shorts or dust/heat damage. 2- hardware that is likely to be compatible with future tech, BUT 3 - if it costs a billion for not much more in terms of performance, no dice. aka: bang for your buck. - I totally agree with Tech Dreamer - the cpu is totally less than it could be for the setup and in terms of future tech. However i7 has had some issues with BF4 (my main play time) , im not doing video or image editing, and i7's cost HEAPS more for not a massive increase in performance that i will actually use. CPU repacement will be coming in a few years, but then I can buy something crazy. - what do you guys think about dual sli 770 dual sc acxs? id need a bigger power supply, but i wonder how you think dual 770s will compete with say, the titan third parties coming out right now? I'd have loved a pair of 780ti's, but i'd have to sell BOTH kidney's but i think i'd die. - Initial aspire-m was plagued with 8.1 connectivity issue. many youtube vids on it . also horrendous rubber banding with basically all games because it only had an nvidia 640m, oh and no 5.1 surround or spdif out.. thanks guys, comments on the likely parts in that build that will need to be replaced in 5 years? but only due to outdating. assume that the part works perfectly and overclocks well all this time.
  12. THE BUILD PLAN https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=301961&action=wish_lists Coolermaster HAF XB Case Corsair RM-650 80 Plus Gold Power Supply ASUS Z97-PRO WiFi/AC Motherboard Corsair Dominator Platinum 1600 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 Intel Core i5 4670K Corsair Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler 1x EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Dual SC ACX 4GB (more later for more FPS) Intel 530 Series 240GB SSD Why are you upgrading? Generally hated the weight and maneuverability of pcs so used to have a Dell Studio 17inch which was a beast of a laptop. After the screen stopped working I got a 3rd job and bought after much toil an $800 Acer Aspire-m ultrabook. I still have this but it’s basically worthless because of the “windows 8.1 connectivity issue” which after trying to fix spread to both wifi and Ethernet. No downloading and no youtube. Bye bye useless laptop. Aims Gaming + Sound Processing Battlefield 4, Arma 3, Day Z standalone, Hardline (when its released) Ableton, Cubase Aside from running these programs and games. There are some things that are very important due to the cost of my build. 1) LONGETIVITY -Ideally lasts 10 years and only features upgrades that are required to access new technology. THAT MEANS NO FAILURES. 2) UPGRADING- I need to be able to increase this computers features over time with minimal replacement of parts. 3) AESTHETICS - for a 3500 dollar computer it’s going to make my balls drop when I look at it and I wanted it to look different to just your standard mid tower gaming rig and I wanted it to have something in it that made it unique. 4) LOW TEMPERATURE – I knew that if I wanted the parts to last as long as possible, I would need some significant cooling, but a full water cooling set up was super expensive and difficult to implement in a small case. 5) BENCHMARKS – I want the best benchmarks out of the most bang for your buck parts – it doesn’t have to always be the top product. Budget & Location $3500AUD Basically as much as it takes to make this thing amazing without hating myself. Australia Monitors Samsung 1080p S24B300H (slightly diff. model to the one in the link.) A 55inch Sony Bravia 1080p LCD Peripherals Windows 8.1 Razer Black Mamba Razer Deathstalker Essential Slim (considering changing this because I need led lighting and I’d like some macro keys) Yamaha 500W HTR-6130 5.1 Surround Currently it only has a few more parts to go in, and is working wonderfully with base temperatures in the case of 25 degrees and not breaching 30 degrees celcius. This is without some of the fans, the ssd and with a borrowed graphics card until I can get my hands on that lovely evga. Please let me know what you think, I’ve pretty much exclusively used linus tech tips as my guide on building and picking the parts for this computer so a massive thank you to him and linustech tips staff. I'm a total noob and I successfully built a working custom rig that is pretty amazing with your help. I will attach a video and photos featuring all the benchmarks of the finished build and a run-through of how I went about the build when its finally finished. I'll also unveil the special unique feature that i've been working on. cheers and thanks for reading. silent_goat
