  1. typographie, you are the hero of the day! That link was obviously overlooked somehow when I searched for help on the topic myself. Can't thank you enough! And thanks to the others for the XP dual-boot suggestion. It would've been fun had I gone that route. I just had this hunch that when I saw the OS support details, that maybe there was another option that hadn't shown up yet. Thanks again! P.S. Don't know about anyone else, but I think that little system would've been pretty snazzy for light, simple use.
  2. So here's my dilemma; I wanted to build a new system around an Asus H97i-PLUS mobo for use with classic games that won't run under Windows 7, yet run fine under XP. The parts list is laughable in my book, but for XP, not a lot of horsepower is needed, so they all seemed fine (list is below). Only one problem though, this motherboard apparently doesn't support Windows XP for drivers and such. I know most people will tell me to go with older hardware that does support XP, or just troubleshoot compatibility mode in Windows 7. The particular game I'd like to relive is SimCity 2000 Special Edition, and for whatever reason, I can't get it to install in 7's compatibility mode. I've even downloaded a Patch that's said to help with that problem, but I don't know how to set it up. Of course there are other old games that would be fun to revisit, but SimCity has a special place in my heart, so I've considered this special build just to accommodate it. Motherboard: ASUS H97I-PLUS LGA 1150 Intel H97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard Boot SSD: Crucial M550 CT128M550SSD4 M.2 Type 2280 128GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CPU: Intel Core i3-4360 Haswell Dual-Core 3.7GHz LGA 1150 54W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600 BX80646I34360 Case w/PSU: EVGA Hadron Air Mini-ITX Chassis Black with 500W 80Plus Gold Power Supply (110-MA-1001-K1) There is a slot loading drive for the EVGA case and a matching EVGA CPU heatsink w/ fan on another wishlist, just to round out the build. I also already have suitable RAM, so I don't need to buy more. As you can see, this build is insanely minimal! So here's my question in a nutshell: Is it possible to install an old OS like XP on said newer motherboard that doesn't have a drivers list on the manufacturers website, or would the board just not run right at all and not be worth the investment overall?
  3. Forum ID: TazarZero Build Title: Saber: A 2011 Build Thread URL: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/11759-saber-a-2011-build/?hl=saber Description: To this day, Saber runs on the reliable Core i7 2600K CPU under that MASSIVE V10! The PSU has been downgraded from 1200W to 1000W when these pictures were taken because Cooler Master couldn't replace a simple fan under warranty in an otherwise healthy unit.... but, I'll save that rant for another day. Future upgrades include an SSD for the main OS when 1TB SSD's are within reasonable price range... almost there as of August 2014, but not quite. Other than the PSU switch, Saber is still the same as in this picture.
  4. I like the depth of field control on the pictures, and I'll be darned if the skins aren't actually pretty neat! A nice personal touch if you will
  5. Uhh... yeah, basically... only the character is not Superman, nor is he trying to become Superman. The symbol is merely there to inspire, to self motivate, to be an ideal of hope. People tend clinge to an entity, like Jesus for example, for hope of a better future. I choose Superman, while a ficticious entity, out of preference as a role model.... and so that the character can relate to himself between the periods of time that each is from. I don't expect many to understand that last part within this video, but once I'm able to continue the story in future videos, it'll be more clear.
  6. Alright, well thank you Puppet for the link. I copy/pasted there, so if there's a way to delete this thread so I don't get into a snag, that'd be super to know.
  7. Umm, right, well this has been moved from 'Off Topic' because it somehow violates the rules of the forum?? So yeah, below is a link to a video I did about a lost soul and his Guardian. It greatly lacks comments or critiques on YouTube and Vimeo, and for the sake of argument, the link is to YouTube. A little tech background on it to reflect on later. This video was primarly all my work. The ONLY other person I can give credit to (minus the score) is my special lady who did most of the camera work, under my direction. I don't like tooting my own horn, but I quite literally have no one else around in my area who would help me with this video, and because of that, this video is actually an alternative result to being an outcast film maker of sorts. Credit is given where credit is due, and the Man of Steel score is obviously not my work. With that said, I did the editing (video, music, sound, visuals, vocal), I made the credit sequence, every single visual effect with the clouds I learned from the ground up as I progressed throughout the project.... all of it, on my own. Again, I don't like gloating, but if it's not said, it'll never be known... or truely understood. Personally, if there were one thing I could change about the video, it'd be the camera that I had to film with. The poor quality is not YouTube's fault. It was filmed with a Sony Handycam from 2005, long before 1080p, or even 720p for that matter, was a set standard. Finances today will not allow me to save up for a new camera, so I used what I could and made the best of it. Without further ado, please check it out, and comment and critique: The Jump to Green And thank you~ P.S. I'm fairly new here and not sure how to get the video to show up as others have on this thread, but the link still works.
  8. With all due respect, the video is a non-profit piece. No monetary gain, just critiques, comments, likes, and dislikes if any. Sorry if I end up breaking any rules Mods, I just don't know where else to turn for such a request.

  10. Tazar Zero is a name of a robot I came up with for a story over a decade ago. The robot was inspired from 'Zoids: New Century Zero' - the Liger Zero, the pod racers from Star Wars: Ep 1, and some newer revisions include subtle transformations like that of Transformers. 'Tazar' is a name I made up to replace 'Liger', and has nothing to do with the definition of the word Webster says it to be. This story was based around actual events of my life, and Tazar Zero was made to fill in the hole that comes from having little to, sometimes, no friends to fall back on. For anyone who cares to know this detail, as of writing this post, the name Tazar Zero is 13 years old. The user name here lacks the space between the name for obvious reasons.
  11. Update 2: Just received my adapter today, hooked it up, and indeed it is an 'Active' adapter as I now have all three desired displays working together in Eyefinity. Thanks to 'helping' for the advice and cue about the 'Active/Passive' misunderstanding.
  12. Update: I'm gonna return the adapter I have now for one that's marketed as 'Active'. I guess I should've known better from the moment I asked the guy if they carried such an adapter, and he didn't know the difference between 'Active' and 'Passive'. Two tries to get it right, and neither adapter did what I thought they would, so I'm not giving them a third chance. I ordered an "Active" adapter from Amazon.com earlier today, so hopefully all should be resolved. Sorry for wasting anyones time being a noob. =\
  13. I bought it because it was local. It'll be easier to return too if indeed it's not what I'll need.
  14. Right, so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, but in an effort to clear up image burn on my 42" plasma tv, I figured I'd hook it up to my system through an HDMI cable instead of burning the "image burn removal" clip (as it was referred to when I found it) to a dvd and playing it that way. Simple solution to the problem, and it works. Here's what doesn't work... my second monitor on my Extended Desktop. I did a little research for my video card, the XFX Radeon HD6970, and found out that in order to enable three displays at once, I needed to get an Active Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter for the tv, since I'm already using both DVI ports.... right?? Here is the adapter I'm using now: http://www.kanexlive.com/v2 This is the setup I currently have as this is being typed out: Primary display - HP2711x @1920x1080x60hz through DVI (enabled) Secondary display - HP w19 @ 1440x900x60hz through DVI (disabled) Trimary display - Panasonic 42" TV @ 1080px60hz through Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter/HDMI cable (enabled) When I unplug the TV (adapter from tower), the secondary display kicks back on, so it seems like the ports are sharing, however I thought I'd be clear of that with the DisplayPort adapter. Am I missing something here? Is the adapter I have not actually an 'Active' adapter even though it says it allows audio pass through? Any help is appreciated in advance. Let me know if there's anything else one needs to know. Thanks~
