  1. One word of warning about these cheap gaming mice (because I have one but not one of these mentioned) is that if you are clicking the left and right buttons at the same time (say to run in some games) and then click a side button (to say jump or sprint) you may find that it cannot cope with more than 2 buttons being clicked at the same time so it stops you running and pretends you're not clicking anything anymore. I can't say any of these in the video do this but some other ones do, I've never had this problem on any other mouse even the cheapest £10 branded Gigabyte mouse, so be warned
  2. No reason it shouldn't work, if the phone is blank and you're just trying to sign in with your Google Account, it should work, the only thing I can think is the problem is if you have 2 step verification on your Google Account and you are trying to sign in with your normal Google email and password without creating an App specific password?
  3. If your case has a couple of 5.25" bays then you can buy a couple of hotswap HDD bays this will allow you to swap/remove your HDDs in seconds, if you use the same bay for both OSs then the computer should try to boot from there first (at least mine does) not sure what your problem is. You could always temporarily unplug your storage drive while booting your OS then plug it in when finished booting this should stop it trying to boot from the storage drive. You will also probably need a 2.5" to 3.5" converter for your SSD to use it in the hotswap bay. This solution works well for me using different drives for different OSs.
  4. I can confirm that 20 is still the maximum number of simultaneous connections, not sure why that wouldn't be enough for a consumer/non server OS, but 20 is still the maximum.
  5. Good news Microsoft has a tool to block Windows updates which I can use to block the Synaptics touchpad driver which causes the computer to crash, obviously you shouldn't use this to arbitrarily block updates because you want security and feature updates but for a bad update (especially drivers) this is the best thing ever. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 via http://hexus.net/tech/news/software/84977-microsoft-releases-windows-10-tool-hideblock-updates/
  6. You should use your 'main' Microsoft account, which is the one you have your gamertag on and the one you have bought apps or anything on, if you don't have a gamertag or have never bought anything on Windows 8 or Windows Phone then you can pick any Microsoft Account you like but I would suggest you use your 'name' email if you have it, ie firstlast@Whatever.com (you can also use a gmail or a personal domain to create a Microsoft Account too) Microsoft's main email is outlook.com if you have firstlast@outlook.com and you don't have a gmaertag or purchasers on another account then use that email.
  7. I would like to see the Surface Pro 4 have a full size USB 3.1 and a USB type C 3.1 that's also used for power but like the Surface 3 can be used as it's own USB port with/without an adaptor. I don't think there is any reason not to use Type C on it. I am hoping the Surface 4 will do the same instead of a micro USB for charging.
  8. I would have thought the Insiders would have got RTM a few days before the 29th when Microsoft starts preloading the update for people who have 'reserved' the Windows 10 update, perhaps we still will.
  9. Thank you just set it going and does indeed work fine, thanks again!
  10. I'm going to be copying a large amount of files from one external HDD to another does anyone know if I can lock the computer (Win+L) and it doesn't stop the copying process?
  11. Yeah, I don't mind OS and security updates being forced at all but I think it's a mistake to force driver updates cause that's normally what breaks things, with the limited Tech Preview people know what they're doing so is less of an issue but when the whole world starts to upgrade to Windows 10 it will probably be more of a problem. Have to see what happens, I'll vote it up when I'm next on my computer, if Microsoft doesn't give a solution hopefully some enterprising individual does come up with a way to block a specific driver update otherwise the shine will wear off from Windows 10 very quickly which is a shame cause it works perfectly apart from this one driver update!
  12. Windows 10 works perfectly but Windows update keeps forcing a new Touchpad driver which breaks my media touchkeys and causes the laptop to hang every so often, worse is it forces the update even when I install the Windows 7 drivers from the manufacturer which work perfectly. I sincerely hope in the final build you can stop Windows forcing driver upgrades. (Turning off driver updates from Windows update in System Properties does not stop them)
  13. The easiest way would be to share the folder the videos are in with a network share, then from the laptop you navigate it just like a NAS (you can even map it as a network drive) then double click the file and play in your player of choice. I would set up your desktop PC with a static IP address in your router if you are going to map it as a network drive.
  14. If the content you want to play plays on the Shield TV then definitely it's all that's needed, you don't need to spend 'x' hundred on a HTPC at all (I'd go for a tiny NUC like PC anyway) you're not going to notice any benefit, and in a home theatre you want stuff as quiet as possible and a HTPC is always going to be louder than the Shield TV. Only you know what you are going to be playing and if the Shield TV supports those formats/apps then that's all you need.
  15. You can use something like a Chromecast, or FireTV stick, select the video on the app on your phone, tablet or computer and set the Chromecast as the player. This would be the easiest way. Depending on the videos (bitrate, format) and how well the synology can transcode or if needs to will depend if you can use any of these low powered devices or built in tv apps, if you have very high bitrate files or formats that need to be transcoded then you will need something more powerful like a PC to play them without transcoding.
