LGA775 Core2Duo, Core2Quad OVERCLOCKING guide
CoryAlan replied to harrynowl's topic in Guides and Tutorials
Thanks for this post man. I've been wanting to put together an old LGA775 build together for a short while now. I was going to base it off my DFI Lanparty x48 motherboard I acquired. But sadly I thing the thing is dead. So I've been looking around for an old core 2 quad and an Asus P5k of sorts, sadly even older parts like this tend to be overpriced hear in Australia. -
I should of said that my current 610watt PSU is non modular, and also a bit dodgey. Heence why i want to use the 550watt Antec
-
I was just worried that the -5volt isn't working. But it should be fine i assume
-
So I've taken apart my brother old gaming rig, intending on using the case once I mod it abit. He had an Antec 550watt modular PSU, but the -5v doesn't work after I tested it. Now I've had experience with this sort of thing before and have had comps work completely fine. I just want a second opinion whether or not it will work with my current system. Hey guys, building a comp for $500 for a mate. need ideas
CoryAlan replied to CoryAlan's topic in New Builds and Planning
Thanks for the ideas guys. This was just a base idea for parts. I live in Australia so prices are a bit more for components over here. I'll take your thoughts and recommendations into advisement. -
I'm building a APU based gaming PC for a friend of mine with a $500 budget. I have the parts list, I was just looking for a second opinion or any recommendations. Parts List: AMD A6 6400K APU - $68 Gigabyte G1 Sniper A88X - $124 Thermaltake Versa H22 with 500watt PSU - $77 G Skill Sniper 8BG Ram at 1866mhz - $ 102 Gigabyte GV R7-750OC 2GI - $69 Kingston SSD Now 120GB - $73 Total: $513 any thoughts?

Got it working guys, turns out my power supply is a tad dodgy

3 different computer stores(2 near me, 1 in another state) still sell 1155 motherboards. I like my little sandy bridge i5. It's a workhorse ahah. But I do believe the mobo has been shorted in some way. I'll be my comp in next time I have work exp, and run all the tests from that thread. Thanks for the help guys.

My System parts are in my profile. I only have one stick of ram. First time I've encountered a problem like this. But then again I have only been working with PC's from as far back at 2004.
-
I have a 610 watt Gigabyte PSU(which I don't trust all that much). The PSU is working fine, when I turn on my system all the fans are running, even my GPU fans. But the mother board doesn't do the 4 beeps it normally does. Hence why It's a strange problem for me.
-
That might be true, but my mobo won't display anything. And it doesn't make the start up beep noise anymore.

I bought an old Radeon HD 6850 off a friend for $50. Now I like this card, It matched well with my Sandy Bridge i5 based system, Now I decided to take my gpu into where I've been doing work experience for the past 4 months. It's a small computer refurb company. I cleaned my card with a few quick bursts from an air compressor. But for some reason when I plugged it back into my PC, it wouldn't display anything, but power was running through it. A friend of mine there said that it could be the refresh rate on these old monitors and that it should work when I get home. The 6850 had the same problem when I tried it at home. Now i CAN'T even use my PC since the motherboard won't display anything either. I've tried both VGA and DVI. So I'm assuming my motherboard crapped out on me. Sorry for the long message, but I need help.

I fellow co-worker of mine is looking for a computer for graphic design. And I said I can build one for around $1000, but I need help with a few component Ideas. If anyone one could help me out that would be great. Also I live in Australia, so parts are a bit on the expensive side then some of you in the States. Thanks

Thanks for the help guys. The motherboard I chose only had 4 fan headers. I for the CPU where I had to use a Y cable for the two Notcua fans on the CPU Cooler. Two headers for the Top and Front 120mm LED Fans. I used a Molex splitter cable for the two 80mm side fans that are powered by the PSU. But it's the rear fan that had the fault. Since it was a molex plug, I had to use a molex to 3-pin connector to plug it into the remaining fan header. His system doesn't really need the rear fan seeing as the GPU and PSU are exhausting the hot air.

Hi guys, first time here. I built a new gaming rig for my friend Dylan today and ran into some issues. In order to connect the rear 120mm fan. I had to use a molex to 3-pin fan connector. For some reason the comp would not post with this fan connected. But when I disconnect the fan, the PC posts fine and works with no problems. Trying to troubleshoot this problem with my fellow builder Taylor. The molex to 3-pin connector started smoking and melted. Not of the other components were damaged. Taylor thinks that the 750watt PSU couldn't handle 5 system fans, But I swear that it's fine. We ended up disconnecting the fan all together and the PC works fine, windows installed and all. This PSU is more then Dylan needs for to run all these parts right? I ordered the following parts: Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler Kingston 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX Seagate SATA3 2TB 7200RPM Barracuda Zalman Z11-Plus Black ATX Gaming Case Kingston SSDnow SV300S37A/120G 120G Intel Core i7 4770 LGA1150 CPU 3.4Ghz 8Mb Cache Haswell eVGA GTX760 4G FTW with ACX Gigabyte G1-SNIPER-B5/B85/4 x DDR3/4 x PCI-E/2 x PCI/4 x SATA3/4 x USB3/HDMI/GBLAN/ATX SeaSonic G-750W 80Plus Gold Semi Modular PSU Please help me with this problem.
