There was a movie ad leak which suggested Oscars Best picture & Director categories going to the movie 1917. gonna be interesting to see if this is true.

best cinematography? sure, best pic? can you guyz stop jerking off ? remember how black panther was nominated for best pic no less? black appropriation at the full extent. if they think endgame was somehow worse and logan didn't deserve to be but Black panther did, it's basically black appropriation, and they should have called out but no one did, i recall they introduced "most popular pic" category and cancelled it?

also worth noting them giving Best VFX to first man was basically circle jerking. there were better worthy CGI nominations it could have easily went to.

Looks like it was a dud preset ad that got leaked from the movie makers for the movie if it won, thought they got an early hint.

i wasn't expecting any sound related category going to be won by 1917 , didn't look like there was much to do in that movie for sound mixing since it seems a bit easy to mix it in, the visual part is the only thing that seems an award worthy thing. i was expecting Ford v Ferrari to get everything sound/audio related . everything from subtle tire screech to rain noises, loud & subtle engine noises, dialogue & background noise edit & mix were almost perfect.  at-least it got in on editing part.

i don't understand the VFX going to 1917 either ,  but i haven't seen the movie making process , since the movie is cut to look like a single shot & god knows how many cuts were in there, maybe VFX did a good job covering up the patches during those cuts right & making it seamless, one of the reason why i wasn't bothered with First man getting the Visual Effects category. You couldn't tell when something was obviously CGI & what was there on the screen for real. they did a good job if they achieved that. not polishing an obvious CGI into a more glossy looking obvious CGI.

oh trust me, the CGI in 1917 can be done by any amature VFX company, it's nothing groundbreaking like the other ones.

clean ups and stitching shots. that's it.

interesting, they gave most of it away before bluray release. i thought these kind of behind the scenes were exclusively reserved for home media.

By the way did you notice that scene where he bumped into the extra in the movie he just lies down with no response.like he died right there?  for a huge scale movie it was odd they'd leave something that obvious in the movie for the final cut.

hey that's on oldie, ill give it a pass. they were way ahead of others at that time. i'd give him credit for making it through the certain death trap of getting trampled by horses & the accompanying cart. he threaded that needle in one shot.
