    Hi All, I recently got a new laptop with windows 10 from acer( I has 9750h and rtx 2070 if that has any effect). As its a new laptop, I have tried to install new software on it. But I can only install some files, whereas other .exe and .msi are not working (some of my University software + 7zip, corsair icue). Every time I try to open either .msi or .exe it comes up with "installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installation package. I have tried to open the file via CMD and .bat file but nothing works. Same error. I have however, found ways to install .msi files. THe .msi has to be in a boot drive ( C:) and it will open fine then ( it does request admin permission to move the file into C: drive, which my account is). With .exe I have to extract the .msi. Normal .exe doesnt work at all. I assume that when opening .exe, windows decompresses the .msi into temp folder which I cannot install from. Does anyone know how to fix this weird admin rights issue? I have tried to create another admin account with the same results. It only wants to be opened from c drive.

    @Dujith so what I would need is a 6 port or more ? 1 cable to the router and 5 to the rooms ? Or should I get a 5 ports (seem to be common ) plug 3 into the router and 2 into the switch ? Also I don't have a budget as the landlord is paying for it but I would rather keep it down as low as possible. I don't want to ask her for £100. @FlightRisk we have 200mbit internet so yeah I'll try to look for just a gigabit. @Pesukarhu what is a full duplex ? I'll be moving out in 1 year time so expanding won't be necessary but what @Dujith said "try to connect all to the switch as it handles traffic" I'll try to find a 6+ port and connect all to the switch. 1 more question. Won't the single ethernet cable bottleneck everyones connection? 5 cables into 1 ? So if we were all using internet at once will it still use the whole interent bandwidth ?

    Hello everyone. I have recently moved into a new house with 4 other of my friends ( students ) and we have cat 5e ethernet running from 5 rooms down to the router box which has 4 ports. They are all functional when we plug them in but of course we cant plug all 5 into 4 ports. So I have asked the landlord if this was connected in anyway before ( maybe she had a switch ) and she said that she has only just installed the cables this summer so they havent been used yet. I said that what is needed was a network switch and it should connect all 5 rooms with internet so I have been given a job to find one and she will reimburse me for it. I am located in UK and we all have gaming PCs / laptop so ideally we would want a fairly fast switch but for not too much. Would you be able to tell me what to look for ? I dont know much about switch specs. All i know is that i should get a gigabit or 10 gigabit Also is the setup as simple as plugging all cables in ? or do I have to setup static IPs etc ? Thanks

    We have just done the restore and keep files but it ended up blue screening with error saying "video...." something we didnt manage to read before it shut off. We are now trying it once again and if it fails this time, we will copy files and full restore to fresh windows. And if that fails I dont know what to do.

    Hello people. My friends laptop seems to play up a bit. It runs really slow but we do not know why. I have run many anti-virus/malware softwares without any luck. I have also checked the performance of pc but it doesnt even add up to 100%. I have attached the users tab which shows that no users use 100% cpu but pc runs really slow like it was being used in 100%. Not only that ram usage seems to be only 200mb but he has 8gb installed. I dont think 200mb is 37% of 8gb. It looks like there is a hidden user or task thats using alot of resources. Does anyone knows what could this be ?

    Hmm but now we have run asus realbench for 10 min and it seems stable. Nevermind...... bsod: Buffer overflow. But look at the temps, at 100% they are low for 4.7ghz and 1.42v

    Ok so we run additional testing to check if it was faulty temp sensors with hwmonitor and this time we got this error. http://imgur.com/M4VBB3J I would post directly on here but i get this error "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community."

    Hello Guys My friend has recently built his new pc. One of the components was i5 6600k which he decided to overclock with my help. We have reached 4.7ghz with a core voltage of 1.42. Now you might be thinking that vcore is high and that cpu is crispy hot. But well this is not the case. Under stress test his cpu reaches 48 Celsius MAX, It just doesnt make any sense, if i were to apply 1.42v and 4.7ghz on a different cpu, it would most likely melt or be in high 80s. Could a sensor be showing wrong temp ? We used aida64, msi afterburner and realtemp. All showing max temp of roughly 48. He is using the corsair h110i gtx. Do you think it would be safe to reach 1.5v and attempt breaking the 5ghz barrier or would it be too risky and we should just leave it? I will post images as soon as he comes back from work.

    But then kinguin has its But then you have buyer protection so if it doesnt work then you ask them to return your money ???? Thats what buyer protection does right ? And I can tell you that it worked perfectly fine now, all activated. 100% working, well see for how long i guess.

    Maybe it will get deactivated soon but then why would sooo many shops sell it for sooo cheap on website which many people use ?
