Overclocking didn't help that much. And as Altecice said, my 8320 seems to be powerful enough to prevent a bottleneck. I've seen others with the same setup but without my issues. I went back to 14.7 to no avail.

I tried it with these games: Insurgency Payday 2 Tomb Raider Borderlands 2 Batman Arkham Origins Far Cry 3 Skyrim Fallout New Vegas Alien Isolation (I actually get above 100fps avg playing this)

I'll overclock it and see if anything changes.

Hey guys, I recently bought an ASUS R9 290X DCU-II to replace my r9 270x and I get simlar or worse performance than the 270x. The card struggles to maintain a fps above 60, and dips to around 30 in most games. GPU-Z reports 0% GPU load in all games which I find extremely weird. That, or it will spike from 0% to 100% back and forth. The card runs at 100% load when I run Valley and Heaven on extreme. I get about 57 fps avg in Valley, and 54 fps in Heaven with GPU temps being below 87 degrees with the voltages being consistent. I run the card on uber mode. I have the latest Omega drivers and I've uninstalled them with DDU and re-installed them but that has solved nothing. My system specs are: Motherboard: Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 rev.4 CPU: FX-8320(stock) Cooler: Noctua NHU-14S RAM: 16gb Patriot Viper 3 GPU: ASUS R9 290X DCU-II PSU: Corsair RM-750 Storage: Hyper-X 3K 120gb, Barracuda 1TB I have no idea what's causing the card to not be under load and will greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

I know how you feel dude. In 8th grade some guys told me what they got for their birthday. One guy got an ipod, beats, a go pro, a nice watch and the others equally expensive stuff. I nearly had a heart attack calculating the cost of all those things. All I get for my birthday is like 20-50 bucks and a nice dinner prepared by my mom. Now those guys spend it on drugs and booze and other useless stuff. Total waste right? I guess the reason for that is they don't know how hard it is to earn money so they just waste it. Life seems to be unfair to some of us it seems. I find that the best thing is to just ignore the fact that they have more money because that's not likely to change soon so why waste your energy. Work hard to be better than them in the long run. Also, buying things you worked hard to get makes you feel so pimp. That's one feeling they may not experience.

I hope there are greener pastures
meowmix commented on seabass9990's blog entry in seabass9990's Rant and Pondering Blog
I think there will be greener pastures for you. Try to always stay mentally strong and positive even when things may look really rough and try to commit to the things you enjoy or want to be in life. It's great that you are actually sharing your feelings because talking to someone and sharing your thoughts really makes going through tough times easier. -
Like many people have said, the nh-u14s is a great option. I have it and it keeps my 8320 cool at 4.4ghz and it's quiet as hell. I've had to move my ram kits a slot over because they touch the cooler and that doesn't make me comfortable, although they fit. I have the Patriot Viper 3's. Also, it hovers over the first pci-e slot on some boards. Get the dark rock 3 for aesthetics but the noctua is better.
