  1. for the money you are spending, you are better off selling your old motherboard, cpu, ram and getting all new with ddr5 ram and modern features 9th gen intel is quite dated now, we are up to 14th gen with significant improvements in performance not to mention your cpu has 16 pcie lanes (so does all of 9th gen), this means currently you're nvme drive is using 4, leaving 12 but unfortunately your gpu can only use 8 (just how it works), when you upgrade that it will decrease performance of a new gpu essentially wasting your money as new gpus are very bandwidth hungry Furthermore you will have 0 warranty on anything 9th gen as it is all old Recommendation: Sell Gpu, CPU, Ram, Motherboard Get a new GPU, CPU, Ram, Motherboard you will not bottleneck your gpu as you will have enough pcie lanes and will get significant performance uplift from the newer tech
  2. have you thought about getting a 2nd pc with a capture card, just plug hdmi out into the capture card then from the other slot to your monitor, from that you can do all of the processing on the other computer which will not put any strain on your current one or (most likely) half your pcie bandwidth as it would be a x8 slot as compared to a x16 even if you got a 2nd gpu still hurting your pc you could get a cheap pc off of marketplace and an extra gpu as well and avoid limiting your performance. i'm not to sure about encoding etc. but from an impact on recording or streaming whilst it would cost more may be better for you if encoding works well on a cpu maybe an old server with a xeon might be good
  3. it is a model made by gigabyte that specifically comes with a 3080 watercooled
  4. power costs are not an issue for me, my laptop works well used as desktop, no issue with it being glitchy shutting lid or anything
  5. Hi there, bit of context I currently own the following laptop: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/msi-prestige-156-laptop-i71280p-16gb-1tb-rtx3050-win11-home-carbon-grey-ac55087 laptop has i7-1280p (14c/20t), 16gb ram and a 3050 + thunderbolt 4 for egpu (also has 2 ports so i can charge and run egpu) and my desktop is rocking a Ryzen 3 3100 (4c/8t) at 4.13ghz + 6600xt +32gb ram I am wondering if i am best selling the pc on marketplace or swapping for maybe a 3080, i know that the thunderbolt will cause a bottleneck however due to having a better CPU in the laptop i'm thinking it may be worth it from my look into bandwidth i am looking at going from 16GB/s (64Gb/s) to 32Gb/s (TB4 has 40 total but only 32 for pcie related) looking to see thoughts of the community and if anyone has made the switch watched this yt video for ideas but obviously the cpu in the desktop is much better in this, comparing to the other one (i dont own this many games) with my gpu
  6. i found a solution, not the best i changed phys-x from cpu to 3050 now in cad it balances fairly well with the XE and 3050 however this will stop the cpu from working as hard
  7. in nvidia control panel it says that windows manages the selection, i have changed it to 3050 anyways
  8. I have been trying programs with my new laptop however task manager reports the integrated 3050 is not working, i have tried re-installing the Nvidia graphics All drivers are the latest version. I have tried running furmark and it does not use the 3050. Windows 10 home installed anybody got any ideas? https://www.msi.com/Business-Productivity/Prestige-15-A11X laptop is the A12UC with i7-1280p 16gb ram 1tb ssd rtx 3050 and iris xe graphics
  9. I am attempting my first overclock of my system (not gpu as it is still under warranty) My ram should be 3000mhz stock but locking at 2666mhz. Nothing i do in bios seems to change anything, tried changing up my voltage to 1.35v still no changes. Tried putting everything on auto, still doesn't work any advice? I am running a ryzen 3 3100 Gigabyte B450m Gigabyte 6600 xt Adata XPG 3000mhz ram https://www.xpg.com/uk/xpg/843
