why not just a 10600k? it overclocks a bit better than the 10700k and will be easier to keep cool. choice of cpu doesnt really matter at 4k, id just build with a solid b550/x570 platform with a 3600/3700x as a placeholder and pick up a zen 3 cpu if theyre good, although you wouldnt even need to upgrade there anyways. id stick with the h115i too, unless it needs replaced itll do at least as good as a d15 if not a bit better

yeah there is no guarantee but imo the chance of it working is higher than chance of it not working

alright i'll reply, since the above answer by helpfultechwizard doesn't satisfy me entirely
RAM is iffy, even if it's the same brand and model, it may not work together if it's not from the same kit (ie, 4 sticks in a packaging with 4x8 printed on them)

will it work? probably yes (majority of the cases ive seen works ok)
but can it not work? yeap, ive seen a few mix and matches of the same model, spec, and brand that doesnt work, even if each individual stick works.

conclusion: mixing ram kits, even the same spec and model, doesnt guarantee it'll work together. but it'll likely work anyways.

should you sell your 2x8 to get 2x16? nah, probably unnecessary.

also, waiting for zen 3 doesnt sound too bad of an idea

No, that’s not how it works. Amassing may bar right on the model, but be cause of how memory is, one kit sometimes won’t work with another of the same model. I would just sell your current and get a 2x16gb kit.

4K at 144hz is still a stretch. The 30 series cards *just* made 4K at a solid 60fps possible. If the game supports DLSS, you can get 144fps+ with DLSS on, but otherwise, if you're looking for high FPS, you're going to be targeting 1440p.

    adding? or replacing?
what's the final ram config gonna be like?

other than that, no comments other than CPU, which is already mentioned
10700k would be my choice for a PC of that caliber

I would consider waiting to see the gaming prefoance of Zen 3 chips, as they will be announcing in about 2 weeks, and CPUs don’t see the same shortages as the house have been. Hell, it might be worth waiting for Navi if the leaked specs are right.

i suggest a 10700k or 10600k because most games can not use 20 threads
