I'm looking to upgrade my PC.
I mostly use it for Internet browsing, document processing, photo post-processing and photoshop work.
It's currently a Core 2 Quad Q9550 with 4GB of RAM and I've been running it for almost 10 years. But its starting to get slow for my needs.
The first thing I considered was upgrading it to a 64bit system so I can make use of more RAM. But I dont know if that will make a difference and it's difficult to invest money into that option to only find out it doesn't get me anywhere.
I am hoping for some recommendations from more experienced builders here.
Here are the specs:
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9550
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
RAM: 4x 1GB RAM (Corsair 2X1GB PC2-5400 DDR2-667 CL 4-4-4-12, and Crucial 2X1GB PC2-5300 DDR-667)
Power Supply: Antec HCG 520W
GPU: Radeon HD2600XT
I plan to reuse the case and HDD.
The case is a standard ATX case.
The mechanical hard drive is only a couple years old. While I understand the benefits of an SSD, that is something I can consider later on if it helps me stay within budget.
