  1. Yeah using HWinfo 64. What should I look out for?
  2. Hey Guys, Recently I have been experiencing some strange issues with my PC. The main specs are as follows; 5900x cooled by a H100i RTX 3080 ASUS ROG x570-F 32GB of Vengeance at 3600Mhz Corsair Rm850x The type of issue that I experience is that when the CPU is under a significant single thread load (e.g. gaming or single threaded cinebench r23) my monitors black out for a moment and then return. But any DirectX or GPU accelerated application crashes, such as games. I have been monitoring temps of both my CPU and GPU and nothing seems out of the ordinary. GPU would reach a maximum of 70C and CPU 80C. I have had this PC for about 6 months and have only just started experiencing these issues. Specifically when I run a single-threaded cinebench r23, the screen blackout occurs when the test starts and then again when the test ends. I had iCue open at the start of the test and when the first blackout occurred it just became a blank window. The same thing happened to the cinebench r23 window but after the second blackout occurred, about 5 seconds after the test finished. Also please note that there is no overclock on either the CPU or the GPU. The only thing close to an overclock is on my RAM so that it runs at 3600Mhz. Also my cinebench scores aren't even bad, they are totally on par with other stock 5900x's. Which makes this even more confusing. I am worried something has gone wrong with my CPU, but also am not entirely sure what could be causing this issue as I have never experienced something like this before. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers,
  3. Hey Guys, Recently finished building my new PC with a 5900x and a RTX 3080. However, I am still waiting for my new 1440p 144Hz monitor to arrive next week, so I am just using my 1080p 144hz monitor in the mean time. It is a BenQ XL2411T and only has Dual-Link DVI, VGA and HDMI connections. So the way I have connected to my GPU is with a Display-Port to DVI adapter. However, the GeForce control panel is only showing a 60Hz option. I have tried using HDMI also but nothing changed. Anyone that can provide assistance would be much appreciated! Also, the new monitor I am waiting on is the Dell S2719DGF and read that it only comes with a HDMI cable. Will this cable support 1440p @ 144Hz out of the box? Or do I have to go out and buy a Display Port cable? Cheers!
  4. Hey, I just received my 5900x today and am about to start the build process. I am getting my BIOS USB ready for the Flashback feature on my ASUS X570-F. I believe the BIOS needs to be updated to AGESA 1.1.0.0 however, on the BIOS download page of the motherboard it has two versions with this version of AGESA. One that was released on the 23rd of October and a Beta BIOS released on the 5th of November. I am not sure which one to use mainly because I am skeptical about the fact that the latest one is a Beta. Both have identical release notes, "Improve system stability" etc. All help is much appreciated! Thanks!
  5. Yeah I was looking at getting a Gigabyte Aorus x570 Elite so this was helpful! Just read up on Q-Flash now and seems easy enough. Thanks!
  6. Hey so like many I am planning to get a Zen 3 chip to pair with my 3080 and am therefore in the market for a X570 board. I know that AMD have confirmed that X570 will work with Zen 3 but just wondering if a BIOS update would be needed and for that an older Ryzen chip? This is going to be a fresh build so I don't have an older Ryzen chip from an older system. Cheers
  7. Hey so I am building a new PC around the 3080 and since it is looking more than likely that Intel is the better CPU to pair with the card I am thinking of getting an Intel CPU. Unless 1440p benchmarks come out and show that there is no difference between Ryzen and Intel at that resolution I will go Ryzen. However, if it turns out I am better off going Intel, I would like to have a board that is ready for PCIe 4 (both GPU's and SSD's) so that when Rocket Lake-S rolls around I can take advantage of that. *On a side note if I get a PCIe 4 compatible SSD is it the same as GPU's in the sense that it would work in a PCIe 3 slot just at a slower speed? - Once again asking for the same reasons as MOBO. Cheers!
  8. Hey Guys, I am about to build myself a brand new gaming pc (super excited) just waiting for the Ampere launch and things should start to get in motion. However, not sure what to do about my monitor. I am aiming to get a 3080 so am definitely looking at upgrading from my current 1080p 144hz 1ms monitor. However, am stuck between these 2 options. 1440p @165Hz & 1ms OR 4K @60Hz & 4/5ms The games I am looking to play include: StarWars Squadrons (VR) Doom Eternal Assetto Corsa (VR) Cyberpunk Battlefield Avengers Fallen Order For those that are going to say get a 4K@144hz or something, know that they are well out of my budget until prices for those monitors come down in the future. Was hoping if anyone had any suggestions/opinions or has possibly experienced the difference between the two. Cheers, Vainsy
  9. So I understand the fact that B550 has less PCIe 4.0 lanes than X570 but what are the differences in terms of being connected to the CPU or Chipset? And what effect does that have? Does B550 have the capability to run a PCIe 4.0 GPU and PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD simultaneously with full bandwidth for each? Cheers,
  10. They are holding an event on September 1st. I know this is when they are announced but availability shouldn't be too much longer after this if we look at history.
  11. Hi Guys, So I am building a new gaming PC with the upcoming Ampere GPU's (likely getting a 3080 - depending on price) however, since they are more than likely going to use PCIe 4.0 I would prefer to use a platform that can take advantage of it (maybe not right away but possibly in the future). So not Intel 10th Gen - however if it is announced that Ampere doesn't need PCIe 4.0 then I will probably go Intel since this is a system solely for gaming. However, assuming that Ampere does use PCIe 4.0 and since, it is rumoured that Ryzen 4000 series isn't coming out til December (which is too long to wait for me to build) I was wondering if you guys thought that a Ryzen 5 3600 or maybe even a 3300x would be a good placeholder until the new Ryzen's are released. Thanks in advance for your help!
  12. Where did you hear about the 15% performance increase with PCIe 4? I haven't heard anything of this nature.
  13. Hey Guys, So I am building a PC and going all out as this will be my only build for many years to come. I recently just ordered an Intel i9-10900K as I figured that this is only a gaming rig, I may as well get the best of the best for my use case. I snapped up the 10900K as stock is hard to find. However, today I saw GN's video (as I am sure many of you did also) about how Ampere is going to support PCIE 4.0. Since Ryzen is the only platform to support PCIE 4.0 I freaked out and now am thinking that I should swap my 10900K for a Ryzen processor as I would be very upset if I cannot get the maximum performance out of my GPU (I plan to buy RTX 3080 when it releases). Please let me know what you think I should do as I don't have much time until I can cancel my order of the 10900K. Even though Intel is better for gaming at the moment, do you think I should play safe and just get Ryzen? Or do you think that the 3080 won't have enough performance to saturate PCIE 3.0 x16, so Intel should be fine. Cheers,
