Yeah. If you have the ALC1220 realtek chip onboard it is not that bad. But when I got my soundcard the headphones just revealed themselves fully to me. I almost got deaf by the treble on my soundcard compared to my onboard. I actually boosted the treble to max on my onboard EQ and now I have to turn it down. That's how big of a difference there is.

Yes, however in my experience they also sound very nice with the mother board amp build into my PC. Even though these amps vary widely I would still expect them to be able to perform better with the 990 pros than with the Kraken, seeing as my phone can also run them fine. But yes one would need to make sure that a somewhat adequate amp is present.
