  1. Informative
AcdgP got a reaction from Kood Garma in Asus prime x570-p m.2 slots
All the parts (bar the psu) arrived for my second build today, and I have assembled everything and installed into the case. Having set everything up in the case I’ve just noticed that my 500gb 970 evo is in m.2 slot 2. (Below the pcie slots)

There is is nothing in the mobo user guide to suggest whether or not this is acceptable. I’ve heard that in some cases SATA ports are disabled, which might prevent my from using the 1tb hdd from my old build.

    Any advice greatly appreciated

These are the only references to m.2 in the manual I’ve found. Nothing about blocking SATA ports.

    **Edit**
The 970 evo is nvme so shouldn’t affect SATA, right?

Thanks for the quick reply, will try running it with fan installed as is. Was concerned as when I removed the fan first time some of the compkind was left stuck on the cpu with the rest on the heatsink.

I did my last build 6 years ago with an Intel cpu, so not experienced with am4 mobos. Was considering purchasing an NZXT x63 aio in a few months so hopefully the compound on the stock fan should hold out until then.

Thanks again for for the quick reply.
