  1. I am troubleshooting for a friend and narrowed it down to the ram controller. He has an z170 board so its skylake or the generation before. It wont start with a 3 short beep - beepcode which means that something is up with the ram. The ram sticks are totally fine and different ram wont do the trick. The only thing left is the ram controller which is either on the cpu or the northbridge. I can't find any useful information online which is why i am asking here. I dont want to tell him to buy a new motherboard only to realise that he needs a new cpu.
  2. I hve the page file managed by windows so that i can be shure to not run out of ram. You never know when it is going to happen.
  3. Thank you, I can definetly live with than and i am probably going to buy two long hdmi cables to connect over hdmi.
  4. Thank you so much, it finally works now (in media that has a 5.1 track). In the next days i am giong to set my pc up next to my reciever to try connecting via hdmi to see if I can get it in any application.
  5. If you need any information regarding the reciever just ask. I looked at the spec sheet and user manual too many times
  6. I have an Onkyo tx-sr604e which is set to Dolby PLIIx (the alternative is DTS Neo:6). I have connected it to my pc (creative soundblaster audigy rx) via spdif, the cable is about 3m long. I have an 5.1 surround setup around my desk which is properly set up on the reciever side. At the moment only the two channel pcm stream is sent to the reciever (I read online that i need a DDL soundcard to make that work which is why i created this thread) and the only surround I can hear is upmixed by the reciever.
  7. Sooooo I should use ffdshow and connect via HDMI? And it doesn't work over spdif? sry for the many questions but do you have a good source where I can test if it works?
  8. I have one of THOSE mainbords... It's an ASUS Z370 plus-gaming. It has very bad audio. so I bought a creative soundcard (bad decision) a while ago. Because I can connect my headset in other (better) ways i just need a soundcard that is able to do DDL. And yes, I am going to try HDMI from my GPU.
  9. That motherboard has no RGB capability at all. depending what case it is you can probably control the RGB with buttons on the case.
  10. I couldn't try it yet because I don't have a cable that is long enough. And it doesn't work from my laptop (may also be because it's a shitty one)
  11. Couldn't it also be because that the ram timing were changed? Maybe he could also just reset them as a 6th step
  12. I just noticed that my soundcard does not have this feature. I need that feature to get 5.1 sound on my reciever. Can someone recommend me a cheap soundcard with this feature?
  13. Hi, I have a Soundblaster Audigy Rx soundcard. I noticed that I only get Sound from the left, right and center speakers. the rear left and right are just upmixed by the Dolby pl IIx from my reciever. So when I play a test sound for every speaker from youtube the rear speakers are silent. edit: I just noticed that surround works on spotify but not e.g. on youtube
  14. It worked and everything is back to normal, thank you!
  15. I will try the linux life install
  16. Datenträger 1 (die HDD die ich formatieren möchte) wird mir auch in diskpart nicht angezeigt
  17. Okay, so it looks like i don't have any other option. Do you know how I can format the whole drive? Because at the moment i can only format D:Data
  18. That PSU definetly fits your needs. If you want to upgrade to a new GPU that is rather power hungry you should look into buying a PSU with more watts because that will probably hurt your power efficiency.
  19. You can probably ask your local glazier, they can cut glass to your specs. If that isn't to expensive.
  20. My problem is that I have nowhere to put all of that data and I am asking if there is a fix for that problem of the drive not fully showing up in partition manager anymore. I also assume that this behavior won't change by formating the drive - also I only can format the D:Data partition in windows and not the whole drive.
  21. Hi, my HDD (D: Data) is not showing up anymore in the partition manager in windows ("Partition.png") but i can still access it from the explorer ("Explorer.png") and copy files from it at full speed. I first noticed that when I saw my second partition (B: Backup) on that drive fail with the dialog window with the option to format that partition showing up. I don't know why but i deleted that partition shortly after. The HDD was formated in a weird way: D:Data was in a sandwich between B:Backup. For some unknown reason I could only split B:Backup in two parts which were I think it's called a portable partition (the bar was a dark green color) - It's shown in "Partition old.png". I am very worried now that the D:Data partition is also going to fail - I have nowhere to back that data on there up because I dont have a big enough drive. [Note: B:Backup wasn't a place where i would backup the data from my PC, I had data from my old phone and laptop on there which weren't very important] [Note: The HDD is a 2TB WD Blue] If you need anything from the pictures translated to english or any additional information please just ask.
  22. I get that System_Service_Exception BSOD sometimes and I have no clue how to fix it and it's just pure annoying. Today it happened as the PC recognized a USB device. before that it happend another time after logging into Win10, when I remove the USB Stick everything worked properly again. My PC: Windows 10 64bit (no OEM), system built in may 2018, OS installed on 25.12.2020, CPU: 8600K, GPU: Strix 1070ti, Motherboard: TUF Z370-plus gaming, modular 500w cougar PSU dump & perfmo output.zip [Edit: this is a problem with the driver of the USB device]
