  1. I have a vivobook 512. Also hits 90c when under heavy load. In my experience laptops always run hotter and check your CPU's operating range. 90c turned out to be OK for me as long as it wasn't hiting it 24/7.
  2. Passmark is my favorite. Been using it for over a decade. Its not as flashy as other benchmarks but its full system and has a great interface and ability to compare with other systems. Its nice to be able to compare my current pc with my pc from 2010. I also use 3D mark stuff and Heaven but mostly for GPU overclock stability testing.
  3. Hello fellow Linusians, I have a 4907K @ 1.32 volts and 4.8 ghz with a 212 Evo on it. I turned my PC on yesterday and instantly noticed my temps were 15+ degrees higher. After a little trouble shooting it was obvious my Evo's fan was locked up and refused to spin. I had an Artic F-12 case fan laying around and used it to replace the Evo fan. I don't see any issues using a case fan to replace a CPU fan but I thought I would ask you fine people if there is any concerns. Top temps are virtually identical under my OC stress test at 85c and my idle temps drop down to 25c. Under regular work loads I'm still in the 50-70 range. Is there any reason to replace the fan with a fan built for a CPU?
  4. It's probably easier when you can code at your own pace and not worry too much about conforming to convention. Most of my coding is Python or C/C++ variant for Arduino. I don't really care about RBG but I love this keyboards macro system and how each of the shortcut keys can be changed.
  5. I have one at work and I love all the extra function buttons and customizability of the shortcut keys. I have been considering one for gaming but keep second guessing. I tend to play RTS and City Builders. Would you suggest this keyboard for light gaming? I also code as a hobby and the ergonomics seems helpful there.
  6. It only took 4 months but I think I've squeezed every last drop out of this set up. Before anyone says anything I want to point out that I know WEI means practically nothing, but I've dreamed about seeing a perfect score for over a decade. I also included my Passmark and Userbench scores. I actually had to lower my GPU overclock to use Userbench and have it consider it a legit result otherwise I kept getting an atypical performance error. I guess the weren't expecting a 1650 Super to put up numbers that high. Overall I'm pretty pumped about this build. I managed to push the BCLK to 101.8 and raise the CPU to 4.89 and RAM to 1900. Under stress testing my temps hit 86c. gaming I haven't seen above low/mid 70s. Currently typing this with temps below 30c. Core voltage at 1.345. I just wanted to show off my work a little and I have no computer loving friends IRL that would understand what any of this means. Thanks for reading and have a good night!
  7. Looks like older Intels still have an issue with misreporting. This link below is from earlier this year. https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/threads/frequency-fluctuations-or-a-bug.6105/ I'm going to go ahead and assume it was one of these two issues. Thanks for the help!
  8. Every other monitoring and reporting program hasn't gone above 4.8 GHz. Even HwiNFO hasn't displayed that number before or since. Temps and stability remain good. Out of curiosity what 10Ghz number are you talking about?
  9. ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1650 Super Advanced 4GB Edition GDDR6 HDMI 2.0 DP 1.4 Gaming Graphics Card I picked up one of these a few months ago and overclocked the snot out of it. It's unbelievable for the price. Less than $200 USD.
  10. I second B&H, I have bought other stuff from them and liked their prices and shipping.
  11. Batch# is X601A586 - January of 2016 if I'm understanding. Is there anything else you can tell me based on that number? I found a site that says X is somewhere in the USA, which is unexpected because it clearly looks like Chinese.
  12. Brand Spanking New, possibly one of the last Newegg had in stock. Looks like Korean on the box so I know stocks were low as it wasn't intended for the US market. Luckily my wife snagged it before they sold out. I've wanted this CPU since it came out and love that I finally got one!
