adelage got a reaction from Crucial1706 in Making a Titan out of a Tesla k20x
    Hi guys,
first of all thanks for this post, after watching the video from Level1Tech I got a couple of Tesla k20x for a ridiculous price, and after tinkering with the cooling system I was not happy with the frequencies, so I decided to go for the titan mod, and now I want to share my experience:
after replacing the 35k resistor with a 25k one and removing the 45k I got id 1031, and no driver was working, so I decided to put back the 45k resistor, but since it got lost in the process, I put a 56k instead, and to my great surprise I got id 1005, and the driver for the gtx titan magically worked!
I have done some tests on a pc with an i5 4690 and the gpu is boosting to 1032mhz, and I got 4000 with furmark (1080p preset) and ~3000 with unigine valley (everything maxed out with 1680x1050 res), which are in line with a gtx titan.
I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

A little update, in case someone should be interested in improving the pcie capabilities of a p104-100:
First, I did a cleanup of drivers, reinstalled everything, and now I get a score of 2100 on unigine heaven (before it was 1400), while a standard gtx 1070 should be in the 2300/2600 range with the same settings, so getting close, even if gpuz still says I am running the p104 at pcie 1.1 x4(probably unigine heaven is not stressing the pcie slot much, I need to do other benchmarks).
Then, I noticed that some capacitors where missing along the pcie traces on the pcb

here is a picture of a zotac gtx 1080 mini, which appears to have exactly the same pcb

so, at least in my case with the ZOTAC P104-100 the pci-express limit is at hardware level, the good news is that it shouldn’t be too hard to get some caps soldered, hoping that the limit is not imposed in the bios/driver as well

adelage got a reaction from BigMcGuire in 60gb ssd caching worth it?
Unfortunately where I live (Italy) ssd prices are a bit higher nowadays, and anyway I have to get this pc done with what I already have at home (it’s not for me, and the mandatory requirement is ultra low budget), anyway thanks to everyone
