  1. Went back to the store, turned out bios somehow got corrupted when they were flashing it, re-flashed again and ta-dam, everything works.
  2. Yes it is a new system but I tried two different GPUs, both are totally operational, I was using them on other systems the other day.. GPU and cable were the first things I excluded. Can a CPU or motherboard cause that? Everything in the system is new except the GPU and PSU, they can't be broken for sure. P.S. worth to mention, when I turn on the PC the mobo lights up red led which indicates a problem with the CPU though the CPU is new, looking good no bent pins or something. So I wonder if old bios could be the cause of all that or the CPU/mobo is broken somehow
  3. I purchased Asus Strix X470-i Gaming motherboard from the store which said they have already updated bios for the new Ryzen chips. Got a Ryzen 5 3600, ddr4 ram, nvme m2 SSD, 750w PSU (no case yet). Plugged everything in and here's what I see (attached a photo and video) - the screen goes crazy with this rainbow glitchy mess. I did all the troubleshooting I could - I tried connecting the screen to a laptop and it works so I ensure its not the monitor or the cable, tried a different GPU and the issue remains, tried 1 ram stick in either of slots, tried a different PSU, tried reinstalling the CPU and made sure the pins aren't bent, nothing helps. I assume something must be wrong with the motherboard but I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to behave when the CPU is unsupported, I expected it to rather show black screen instead, or it could be a CPU, can't figure it out. If anyone has any idea please let me know what could cause this or what else I could try before going back to the store (it's hard to make returns where I am, plus I'm not sure which part exactly is faulty). 20190922_140726.mp4
  4. Okay, apparently nothing helped cause it keeps happening - interface crashes/glitches, freezes completely, only reboot helps to get through the day or couple days.. Any ideas? Anyone?
  5. Right, I actually did reset the SMC back then instead of NVRAM/PRAM. This time I did in fact reset NVRAM and it seems to run fine for a day, gotta use the laptop for a couple more days to see if the issue is still there
  6. So I open the lid today and it greets me with this freeze of 2 misplaced "loading" icons: ..reboot helped.
  7. I guess that's the same thing All available updates are installed, not sure if there are any hidden ones or something.. I'd try take it to the service but there's neither warranty where I am nor any official apple stores. So that's probably not an option.
  8. Yeah, I mentioned that in the first message, didn't help..
  9. Just tried it at (attached), the temperature went up to 79-85C but nothing bad happened, no crashes.. Unigine_Valley_Benchmark_1.0_20170503_0113.html
  10. Yes, actual mac, not fake or hackintosh or whatever, and it's only about 1.5 years old. Yes there's plenty of free storage now, the issue persists. Okay, will try the benchmark tomorrow and send reply here with results
  11. Hey, so I'm using MacBook Pro 13 retina (early 2015) 128gb, 8ram; macOS Sierra v10.12.4. About a month ago I started getting these odd crashes/glitches.. certain parts of the apps go blank or black, it becomes impossible to use anything. Then it can just crash completely - become unresponsive (nothing works at all, including touchpad) and only fixes itself after power off (holding power button) and back on. This happens basically every day but seems pretty random - doesn't matter which app is running exactly or what is being done. Here's a screenshot of the issue: (as you can see uTorrent s basically blacked out, 'displays' window shows some glitch, apple menu is empty, part of chrome is blacked out and the stuff you enter into the address bar is invisible) I tried wiping and reinstalling macOS from scratch via recovery, resetting NVRAM, but that didn't resolve the problem. Tried using Apple Hardware Test, memtest, and various HDD tests - none of them show any issues. No idea what else to do about it, the hardware seems to be ok, but reinstalling the software doesn't help.. Anybody ever experienced this shit? Is there any way to fix it?
  12. That's an option though in this particular case we really don't have time/resources/will to setup and manage that, i'd rather get some out-of-the-box solution that's nearly perfect. From what I have learned Synology seems cool, i suppose WD Red drives will go well with it.
  13. Hey! I run a small digital design studio, we create websites, branding, etc., facing a storage/server problem, have no idea how to go about it so i figured i'd rather ask the great ltt community So, to date our use case has been very light so Google Drive was enough, we upload/download docs and small files, the biggest is around 600mb, we currently use less than 100gb of space total. Now it became inconvenient to use, it lags, it doesn't always work fast, there are access control issues, scheduling backups is inconvenient, we plan to work with video which means higher bandwidth, and the most important is it doesn't allow to work with files directly without downloading them. So we look for a NAS solution to run in the office, i never used it and have a very general idea about it but here's what we kinda expect it to be: - Fast, stable, secure - Access both from LAN and WAN - Setup and schedule backups of certain folders/drives of all office PCs (and Macs) - Work directly from NAS with PSD, AI and other files without downloading - Manage access rights for various users, allowing access to certain folders, certain rights - Very easy to setup and use/administer, shouldn't require an expert - Should allow for at least 2 drives (we plan to use 1-2tb for a start and then possibly expand), not sure if it should be hdd or ssd though. Would appreciate a storage advice as well. - As cheap as possible. We can't pay premium but we'd rather pay a bit extra for something easy to use and reliable than some chinese copy-crap. Hope you guys can give a couple advises and thank you in advice Cheers!
