I believe consoles are at least one or two generations behinds PCs. Also, PCs have the added benefit of being modular, meaning you can swap out parts for upgrades whenever, whereas consoles aren't.
Not to mention that PC players have access to more games through Steam, Battle.net, Uplay, Origin, and Epic. I believe that there are more PC gamers than console gamers too (I might be wrong).
I guess your decision also boils down to what games you want to play - if they're mainly console only releases or not - and whether you have any friends that you play with that are tied to a specific platform.
