  1. What's the earliest deadline for your NFS bunker? We're not doing the first throw so it'd be wasted to release your bunker.
  2. Could have been the difference in finishing 4th or 5th!
  3. Now that RNMA is giving out work, are we skipping the first throw?
  4. Am I missing something, or are there no GPU events right now? If so, this is an odd lull for GPU crunchers.
  5. Coming down to the wire for Numbers 4th place. Gonna be a close one!
  6. Checking in for this year's competition. Don't have much to work with, but started bunkering.
  7. Given your situation and budget, my suggestion would be to upgrade your existing PC. Put in a 4070TI ($800) and if you need to, upgrade the power supply for it. You'll be doing probably at least 8 million PPD with that one card and you'll be able to do some solid gaming on the side. If you want a server to mess around with, make sure you do some research on them. For example, rack mount servers are designed for dedicated server rooms or data centers. Noise is not a concern in those enviornments but I'm sure someone at home will mind if there's a screaming banshee in the garage.
  8. What's your budget? Target PPD (points per day)? Your cost of electricity? Why are you buying a server? CPU is not effective/efficient for folding. Any older desktop with adequate PCIe slots and power supply for the GPU(s) will do the job. For example, my cost of electricity is very high so I upgraded to the RTX 40-series since they're quite efficient. Here's a lovely resource to give you an idea of different GPU PPD output and also power efficiency. https://folding.lar.systems/gpu_ppd/overall_ranks_power_to_ppd
  9. Third place overall! Fantastic achievement. It's been a great fun competing with you all -- teammates and opponents alike.
  10. Hopefully we can keep up our last 12 hour rate.
  11. While what you say is true, obtaining one rank up in Einstein does not gain us anything. The only way we can mathematically lose 3rd overall is if we get overtaken in yoyo by SG. Taking resources away from yoyo, even with as slim of a possibility of losing a place there, is not worth the risk IMHO.
  12. Not sure if it was mentioned earlier, but congrats @Favebook!
  13. Now that three events are in the books, we have a pretty good idea of how the standings are stacking up. It's clear we are not in contention for overall silver, but need to aggressively defend overall bronze. SETI.Germany did a last minute push in the Sprint and got a good bump in the ranks. We only lead them by 27 points overall right now. Let's look at some hypothetical scenarios: SETI.Germany ramps up in Einstein and takes our current 5th place standing. They gain 9 points and we lose 3. Net change: 12 points. If they can get 4th place, net change (assuming we get 6th place), 19 points. Third place in Eintsein should be out of reach. SETI.Germany beats [H] in their close race for 4th place in yoyo. They gain 7 points. If they get 3rd place, pushing us to 4th, net change is 27 points. (which would be a tie for 3rd overall only if they remain 8th in Einstein which is unlikely) If they accomplish both 4th in Einstein and 4th in yoyo, we would still be able to hold 3rd overall by a slim 1 point margin. Therefore, we must maintain 3rd in yoyo to guarantee a 3rd overall finish.
  14. A gentle reminder -- we're about to cross the finish line for the Sprint (NumberFields) in approx 20 minutes. Prepare to shift GPUs over to Einstein and CPUs back to yoyo.
