  1. Idea based on the latest short ciruit video titled "I get giddy just looking at it - Ubiquiti Cloud Key Enterprise"

I noticed earlier that TrueNAS Scale actually has an application called unifi. I will post the descrition after this line
    image.png.ef4e15949c2d9ac5cdfe9a0482c39b88.png

Has anyone tried this out? I kinda would like to see either Jake from LMG or ServerTheHome or even Level1Techs make a video about this. I have not deployed this application, because I am too poor to afford ubiquiti gear.

  2. Hello

Sorry, some of the things you posted was a little unclear, to me atleast.

    1. What is the actual deployment you are running?
Did I understand correctly, that you have a physical computer hosting 2 different game servers. If I understood correctly, this is running some sort of windows server.

I am also un-sure how the hacker even hacked my server. If anyone might know of a way to figure out how I can check to see how my server got hacked that would be a huge plus as I have been struggling with that as well.

How is the server setted up? You have two game servers on there, so are those services exposed to the internet? What else is exposed or deployed running on the server?

    Hello everyone,

Last week, my PC completely froze i was playing some games and i was forced to turn it off by pressing the power button for a few secs. But then, i wasn't able to turn it on

again until i did a clear cmos on the motherboard (an Asus Rog Strix B550-E gaming). Everything worked good again for a few days.

But now, for the last three days, my PC wont turn on at all unless i do once again a clear cmos.

So i'd like to know if the problem could be only the cmos battery (that could have been affected by the Freeze and the "hard" turning off), or if there

could be some underlying issues with the motherboard still ?

I wanted to add that on the last clear cmos, i inadvertently did while the PSU was still on, and the PC immediatly started when i shorted the pins.

    Thanks for your help.

I cannot comment about the CMOS
Can you confirm what you mean by turning off the fan monitoring?
It will work most likely the same way unless it is combined into the pump header...

Can you try to update the BIOS to the latest revision?
And have you tried Asus support? I have had everything work from my experience with them.

    Well, no.

Based on their website they write it as Oura. Ōura only appears as their logo and subsequently all instances where it's used as an image, while the rest of their website writes it without the diacritical mark.

For an intents and purposes, they call themselves Oura while Ōura is simply a logo and a stylized named. It's basically Fant4stic and Se7en.

Allright, I should have done more research, sorry about that
Basicly, If it would be  Ōura, that would be a stylized version of öyra
And it s also quite close to the name of Aura, which might refer to a river, a brand of mustard,(or to) type of blue cheese, (etc).
I would not pronounce it as aura, but I am used to the Finnish O, and can understand its issues

Linus managed to make the news in Finland after the WAN-show discussion about the Oura-ring misspelling. The article is basically saying Oura messed up with their reaction.

    Ah, Hello there sled
    Just saw the same article
    (https://www.hs.fi/visio/art-2000009114112.html)
The Oura is A Finnish company, based out of Oulu. And based on the HS Visio article, their name was combination of Ora, the Japanese word for gold, and Oulu.
    image.png.aa6063c67919333ed0795d5566a1f802.png
And that is how they would write that name, based on their website
But to the Juicy parts, whcih I did not really find well covered in Linus and Luke's Wan show
This is my direct translation, which may include some mistakes, so please let me know. I will, off course correct it
(co-operation) is my addition, I think it gets the message accross more clearly

Oura's leadership declined HS vision request for an interview. The company provided only a written statement through their Finnish communication partner.
"We appriciate our (co-operation) partners and we are big fans of Linus Tech Tips. We always have clear and broad guidance on partnership content. In this partnership, the criteria of our guidance were not fulfilled. We asked our partner to make reasonable changes, which regrettably we did not get. We are dissapointed at the final result, but we still are their fans and follow their content.
    End of statement
And interestingly, a little bit later it covers how the name was picked, but I compressed it earlier.
The article ends with a comment from a economics professor saying that it would probably have been better to accept that this happened, and take it with humor.
"A video made as a joke, where they provide a guide how it should have been pronounced, would have most likely multiplied to amount of recognition and viewership the content got".
And I would say this were the more critical parts. And I did all the translation by hand, not with google translate, since with that you cannot be sure of anything going between FInnish and English.

But kind of doubt that, more so when other 3rd parties in the comment section of the video and others might find the same issue to be true. So its very unsure how wide spread it is and how truely bad the situation can be.

I would assume that at least some of those were bought off store shelves, so I cannot really see this being the case

But my old galaxy A50 starting displaying overheating errors. Day following those errors, it just stopped working. Now, when I plug the charger in, I shows the overheating symbol. But I found some videos here on youtube, that fixed it by figling around the USB/headphone jack daughterboard( using samsung a50 battery overheating as the keyword) No visual on flexing, but I have not opened mine up yet

I would assume that would not be an issue, considering relativly low power consumed.
ANd noting, Alienware is horrible at their product desing on the desktop side.
Looks at Gamer's Nexus channel, they have a good video about it
I would not be worried about itt, it should be fine

Thanks for your precious help sir!

I would like to add that the temps climbed till 100℃ and stayed there for almost couple of mins and falling back on 97-95 meanwhile which is very concerning (I was hoping they could stabilize around 85-90)

And the startling fact is, when I bought this brand new laptop 2 months back, it was able to maintain pretty low CPU temps, around 75-80 max(that too on default fan speed!!), and after 10 days of buying, it went downhill and temps started climbing till 90 even after fan speed max

Also If CPU would get no harm, would'nt components around CPU get hot and would'nt that damage them?

    My CPU- Intel i5 12500H

My GPU (temps normal)- NVIDIA RTX 3050 4 GB VRAM

If they are specced for that kinda use, nope, shouldn be a problem
I would assume that shouldn't be an issue, but noting that there are gaming towers out there with failing VRM's (Looking at you Alienware), it is not impossible.
You have not provided the laptop full specifications
    Things like
Model/product name (Zephurys G15 for example, if there is any)
If there are multiple products with the same name, please provide the config/product code, usually quite long string of letters and charecters
    Not the Serial number (S/N)

I've asked and was told that it initially worked (based on the fact there was no warning in the beginning). I see, so is it normal for a fan to behave in such a manner when mechanical failure is at fault? i.e. turns on for a moment and then stops completely. Where would you suggest getting a fan from (I live in France)? I dont mind taping it on or something if I cannot find a match but the thickness would have to be the same because of the way the system is setup. As for this propretary "Exclusive Silent Storm Cooling" I really don't know, there really doesn't seem to be much information on this PC online and I can not find the same model anywhere.

What type header is it connected to?
AIO, Sys fan, etc on the board?
Some headers have different onboard fan profiles, those depend on the header, that behavior you  mentioned in the header of this thread might refer to.
(And if you want to get something pretty decent for the price, I would personally go with artic F12 PWM, those really are the only fans I now buy, living in Finland price is about 10e for 120mm)

Hmm, can you confirm this page for me? I found this with a simple google search...
    https://www.msi.com/Desktop/Nightblade-MI2C/Specification
And the manual for that would be then availlable on the following place

The solution looks like an inverted ATX solution, I was not able to indetify the board based on the included pictures.

Hi thanks for the answer I already reinstall drivers properly and it didn't fix the problem, I think rdr2 is running on dx12, I think I'll buy a new PSU 650w should be enough or should I take higher watt?

Asus recommends a 650W PSU, and that means a 650W which can deliver either all of that power, or most of that power on the 12V.
So, get a good PSU, not just the cheapest thing that says 650W on it, look for revies, etc...
Reason that I point this out, was that I was having issues, where I had to reset MoBo CMOS/BIOS over and over, even though the PSU was claiming 600W (what was recommended by Gigabyte (I have the Gigabyte RX 5700 XT gaming OC), and we resolved it down to the PSU. THought about 2-3 Boards were dead at that point, but CMOS cler did the trick. Two of those boards are still in use.
I got good experience with Seasonic and corsair.

  12. Hmm, Odd
Based on that MSI afterburner result, that would be an graphics card bottleneck?
So, my best bet would be to check the drivers, since there might be some rendering conflicts?
What version of DX is the RDR2 running on?
And it looks like very strong bottleneck, which shouldn't be happening with on Strix RTX2080

Strange, just saw the boost clocks, the card is not boosting at all
    https://rog.asus.com/us/graphics-cards/graphics-cards/rog-strix/rog-strix-rtx2080-o8g-gaming-model/spec/
Most likely caused by underperforming PSU
    image.png.3a0c9faf08741ff04e083ea4d54f3001.png
Based on that MSI afterburner result, your GPU is pulling a third of the power it needs

Guess what happened to it after 2 months?
Well, the batteries main fuze died...

  14. A thing I would think LMG should let know
    1. Tournaments
    2. Have a way to organise rideshares, 1 person comes with their car and other people coould come
And since there is no parking at the venue, this would also make a bit of sense, so ridesharing, where possibly
This would also reduce the amount of vehicules unloading, since not everyone would come on their own.
    3. Equipment,
Every one brings over their own laptop/dekstop and maybe a display, if needed
What about networking (switches, routers), power distribution (The building has a lot of power available, but how do you get that to the gamer's.
These are one of the hardest things there is, since this is not the thing the building is used and setted up for.
4.Maybe open a dedicated thread on planning somewhere, where people can also add their own ideas and give feedback?

For some context, I have some experience organising LAN-parties
While I was the person-in-charge, the two events had around 49 to 56 participants
Not on this scale, but if you want me to comment, let me know

  15. Hi
I have been considering buying Sennheiser 599 headphones with 50 Ohm headphones

    Ryzen 5 3600xt
    Asus Strix B550-f
My monitors (AOC 24G2U) also have a headphone jack passtrogh
    Could I use it also?
    2. My laptop
    HP probook 455 G7
    Without any other equipment
I have not been able to find a solution for this in the documentation
    Can you find those?

  16. Hi
I have been trying to update my servers firmware, but I cannot get any OS to install on my server
I have already succesfylly installed truenas scale on there, so it should not be a problem
IBM provides a couple of options, including windows server, and some linux enterprise servers
For me, the point would be not to pay for the OS just use it to update the firmware, for two servers, once.
Here is the IBMs page, but I am going write the options here
    -windows server
-SUSE linux enterprise server 10 and 11
-Red hat enterprise 7,6,5 and 4
    And VMware ESX 4

The only one availlable for trial would the Suse enterprise server 11 SP4. And for trial, I mean that I don't have to subscribe to anything.

    Here are some specs
    IBM X3550 m3 7944
    2x XEON E5506
    32gb of RAM
    SAS/SATA drives

Hmm, that is very much odd
Maybe you did not see the page, not imposible.
But calling you completely wrong is justified in this case, because that retailer is not a scammer. That can be found pretty quicly, since the Finnish is gramaticly correct (a sign of a scammer trying to reach the Finnish market), there are multiple retail-locations, which check out on google maps. And off course, correct contact info and they have a valid Y-tunnus.
I can understand why someone might miss some of these, but still, you shouldn't be able to miss them all.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think that site is a scam?

Because as far as I know in the Ryzen 4000 lineup there are only the 4300 and 4700 G and GE, and nothing such as the 4100 or the 4500, though I am aware that the 3600 is a thing.

This all just seems very sketchy to me. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope, I can confirm that both verkkokauppa.com and Jimm's are legit retailers, because I have been their customers for years, both on location and on the internet

  20. Hey, I just was looking at one of the retailers, which sells PC components locally here in Finland.
I came across a couple of interesting SKU's, all running zen 2 architecture, and coming with a wraith stealh cooler, and identical
    AMD Ryzen 3 4100
4c,4t, unlocked and comes with a wraith stealth stock cooler
    AMD ryzen 4500
6c,12t, unlocked and comes with a wraith stealth stock cooler
Also, the clocks of this CPU are very close to the ryzen 5 3600, the 4500 has official boost clock of 4,1 GHz, compared to the 3600 4,2. And both have the same base frequency of 3,6 GHz
However, the major thing here is the pricing locally at least
The 4100 comes in with 119e (inc. tax), the 4500 at 149,90e (inc. tax) and the 3600 is at 245,90e (inc. tax).

I have not seen any articles talking about these new zen 2 SKU's, which is pretty strange. It really seems that AMD is trying to capture the lower end of the market with these 4c and 6c CPU's
Althought, If I remember corretly, wasn't the 4000-series of destop CPU's supposed to be only with AMD APU's?
Or have I missed something major

  21. Hi
I am looking at backing up 2 different machines. My laptop and my desktop. Both run windows 10 pro. The solution has to be automatic, since I don't see much point dragging and dropping files every a couple of weeks. The backup can be only, when the machine is connected to WLAN/LAN on my personal network.
Why I don't use onedrive? I couldn't get it to back-up my L'math-files, which are the major thing I need to back-up. Those include physics, maths etc. Many calculations, which I need backed up.

I have curretly a couple levels of hardware that I might be able to dedicate to this, but highest end would be an i5-3470 or an intel celeron duo.

What do you think would fit these requirements?

  22. 1 hour ago, Bombastinator said:

So my take always from the post:

-there would be use in “school” but not what kind or level.  Might not matter.  Anything “school” generally means build quality and keyboard integrity are paramount.  Lots of lugging the thing from place to place and typing.

-use cases are all productivity stuff of close to potato difficulty.  A big gpu or high refresh are not needed for these.  Anything modern with an iGP should be good enough for those.

    -budget is not mentioned.

re: why 2/4 was less than adequate but 4/8 was.  Some guesses:

-generally dual core stuff isn’t very good at running multiple things in the background.  If there was a major speed boost from more than 4 threads perhaps more than 4 threads were being used?  Running more threads than are available is doable, but there is overhead.   Sometimes a lot.

-running the cpu with bits of it turned off may have produced unintended consequences.

    To your re 2/4
The problem was that windows update pushed just too many background tasks. This affected performance, so I changed it to 4/8
I am a high-school student, and listed my workloads I use
Office 365 suite, libre-office-suite, the programs I can use inside the abitti (Finnish matriation boards exam system), like libreoffice, geogebra, speedcrunch
And the programming stuff I also do on device,
That is althought hard to explain.
I was honestly looking for scaling in these workloads, since the current i7-4800mq 4/8 is totally fine with all of these workloads.

I am looking currently at the CPU-performance scaling, and how things would improve with a newer CPU/APU

  23. Hi, I am looking for a new laptop, that would be replacing my current Dell latitude E6540. I have it configured with i7-4800mq and 16 GB of RAM. I also have a 2,5 inch SSD as the main drive.
I am looking to give this laptop to a family member, who at the moment, doesn´t have access to a proper computer, since She has been relying on my desktop, and her phone.

I am going to be using the new laptop for office 365, libreoffice etc. Other abitti-compatible programs. (IK, office 365 in´t compatible, I just use that for most of my school work.) And off course, abitti exams.
For reference, these workloads were fine until the start of this year on this machine. At that time I was running it with only half of the cores (2c/4t). However, it felt a bit sluggish, so I put all the cores to use.
TLDR, i7-4800mq is totally fine for all of these workloads. Also, the JDE and PDE I use (eclipse for java, PyCharm for Python) run just fine on the current machine.

I would like to understand however, how well these workloads I just mentioned, would scale, comparing the i7-4800mq to a more modern i5-10210U.

From what I could see yesterday, when doing my research, the i5 would be only 10-30% improvement in benchmark scores. Would you consider those benchmarks accurate?
    Thank you for your imput!

Unfortunately I don't think there's any "solution" to your issue short of managing to find somebody who has just the stick part. It's odd your friend had only the throttle.

Indeed, I ll have to talk to him

Most of the Saitek HOTAS combos (now branded Logitech) are still setup so only one component in the pairing is designed to connect to the PC and the other connects to it. On my X52 Pro, it's the reverse... the throttle has a USB cable to connect to the PC, and the stick connects to the throttle. With any of them, I suspect that it is not possible to run the "slave" half of the combo by itself, even with an adapter - the "brains" are in the part with the PC connection.

    Thank you for our input

The problem is that, it would be pretty hard to find a good quality joystick part
