  1. Thank you both for your replies. Tbh 5900x was my choice too, but I think I saw somewhere that my motherboard has weak vrms for the 5900X and it might cause problems on high loads.
  2. Hello all, I want to upgrade my CPU on my current setup and I'm looking at either 5900X or 5800X 3D and I'm wondering if my motherboard can handle any of these two. I'm a software engineer and I use VMs with a lot of docker containers and occasionally I like to play some RPG or strategy games. My current setup is: Gigabyte Aorus M B450 motherboard Ryzen 2600 CPU Radeon RX 5700XT I don't want to spend money on a new platform atm, waiting for am5 and ddr5 prices to drop.
  3. Phenom sits at 125w without overclock and radeon at around 130w , depends on implementation might be higher. If you add ram, hdd, motherboard and various usb devices I don't think it is wise to overclock with that power supply. In addition, these components are a bit old and if were already on a working pc all these years they might consume a bit more power due to degradation. I will use a better power supply at around 450w and not push too much on overclocking.
  4. In the video he mentions for a special dedicated directx12 compute unit. Anyone knows more about that?
  5. My biggest disappointment would be if the new AMD card is a double kernel one. The tdp is really important for me as is my electrical bill.
  6. Yea, I suppose so. I was all excited to play some games during Christmas with my new GPU. Lets hope for some early release from AMD but I'm afraid that will not happen this year.
  7. Well, i have an HD 7950 boost atm. I'm having trouble max out new games with it at 1080p with 60fps.
  8. I was planning to buy an nvidia 1070 this month but after the benchmark leaks of the supposedly new AMD GPU I'm skeptical. It'd be good to have a new GPU for Christmas but now I don't know if the the new AMD card worth the wait. What are you guys suggesting?
  9. In the review of tomshardware, they used a coolerMaster v700 which is 17cm long. In the pictures I can see that with cables on it there is still space available, so I guess it will be fine.
  10. Am i missing something? From tomshardware review for ds cube PSU Up to 17.0 cm (Up to 19.0 cm Including Protruding Cables). Mine is 17.5 cm. The cables might get a bit squeezed but I believe it will be ok, won't be?
  11. Thanks a lot guys for the answers. So i guess it will not fit in the phenom. Considering my psu from be quite!'s website Dimensions without cable (L x W x D), (mm): 86 x 150 x 175 The corsair cs 750W is almost the same, so it's not that big. I guess I will go with the Aerocool ds cube cause it's smaller than the 350D.
  12. Let's put aside my psu overkill for a moment, can we? . It was brand new and really cheap, couldn't resist the buy.
  13. Well I know that but I spend just 120$ for it when I was searching for a new one. It's size is really small for its power though.
