  1. laptops have a curse problem with the heat management
  2. Roomba vacuum, young cat dropped one on the carpet & Roomba dragged it all over the house, creating a 1 mile long trail... fun
  3. My wife just uses them, has no clue what makes them work. Goes through a crappy 200$ laptop once a year to watch her shows while doing other stuff and dragging it after her.. Its fun when I get the $200 budget & I have to find the best laptop available for that $. I have several broken ones in a box, might make a Frankenstein crappy laptop out of them...
  4. I can speak for the Acer Helios 300, as a good machine. I`m focused on several Acer laptop forums & the issues these machines have seem random & more likely user caused than major manufacturing , persistent, issues. I myself still have an old 300 with a 1060, and it works with no issues. I do believe howerver, 2k+ for a laptop is to overkill though, as performance per $ goes down hard, and desktop path starts to show a 50%+ performance increase or more, if followed. Since you will fork so much money in this though, buy the latest stuff at least. Don`t throw 2k in obsolete parts. And avoid HDDs.
  5. DO NOT get Razer laptop. Maybe the new Pro. Maybe. The rest, scratch off your list. I had 8 at firm, 5 had charger issues after 1 year. They are fancy units with a short lifespan. They work, but wither fast. Kind of like a freshly cut rose
  6. Macbook pro or a slimmer version for this kind of use. My MacBook pro Late 2013 is still working great, no issues. It can do everything I need it to do except gaming + frequent editing. No Windows laptop will last 5+ years.
  7. for anything Audio, a MacBook Pro will do the job anytime, anywhere, better than Windows. My B&O headphones sound better on my Macbook over windows laptops. Its just better sound. I can especially discern a big difference in volume as it goes up from 1 to 100. Windows is more like 4 quarter staged while MacOS is actually increased every 1%. Windows has a major issue with bluetooth audio, no way to check what codec is used, and many other issues
  8. I`d take the 1060 3GB version. Thats almost 100% more powerful than that 1050 mobile gpu. Undervolt the 8300 a bit & test thermals, but overall it depends on the games u want to play vs amount of time u will actually 3d model with the CPU (or maybe your app uses the gpu) but thats just me, i like more GPU power over CPU.
  9. Hello, I`m new on this forum, will try to help out where I can with what info I have or I can try. Just moved to US, CA, from Europe originally. I love computer parts, adjusting them, improving etc and experiment, as well as make the perfect sweetspot builds. For now, i left most things behind except my laptops, one a gaming 1060 old one & another a Mac (huh?). But as soon as papers are done I`ll start getting back into desktop play though, meanwhile helping members troubleshoot if I can. i`m more into silent PCs lately, as slick as possible without RGB, inconspicuous is my target. I do however appreciate a good RGB build. Thanks for your time.
