  1. I guess that explains it, I tried now and now it crashed during the setup loading even, so I think I probably will resort to just swapping a bunch of parts and seeing what's the issue.
  2. There wasn't much saying beside the fact I was on F8, and also here is the error when I try to update using the .FI file I get in QFlash
  3. Oh wow that's a lot, well this is all text really visible.
  4. I noticed just now I forgot an L in the name which probably is what caused this confusion here.
  5. the file looked to not exceed it, but I can check again tomorrow, as for revision I'm not too sure exactly what I got.
  6. I have not tried a 32 bit install besides XP, perhaps I should try. And also I couldn't update my bios for whatever reason, just stated error when I had a FAT32 formated usb with the correct file for the mobo.
  7. for the windows 10 ISO I'm using an ISO created using the media creation tool and for the windows 7 ISO I'm using a copy that was on a disc I had before.
  8. I don't think I have any usb 3.0 ports, it's all 2.0 and lower probably, also how would you recommend making a FAT32 formatted USB with an installation, because rufus sets me on NTFS if I use MBR and a windows ISO
  9. I didn't really find any setting similar to what you said, and it was said there wasn't such setting on my board either, and yeah 4GB is quite low, but my older board died so unfortunately had to retire my other 2 sticks. I'm trying for USB as I don't really have any DVDs with any OSs except windows XP SP2, but maybe it would be worth getting my hands on if it could perhaps mean a better install. And as for the SSD part that was my plan if I got this working first as I don't really want to spend any money on something I may not use. Also yep 4GB is not a lot as I mentioned earlier in this reply, but it's mostly a proof of concept and if it were to work maybe I could get a LGA 775 socket board that supports my ram sticks so I could get a somewhat nice experience with windows 10 / a Linux distro.
  10. Yeah, it was mostly a long shot asking here, the CPU isn't too bad, it definitely runs windows 7, I just can't get it to work for some possibly other reason
  11. Well that would make sense for windows 10, but it really wouldn't make sense for this issue on the older operating systems. But TY anyway
  12. Currently I'm trying to install windows 10 just as an experiment, but in the past I have tried to install windows vista and 7, sorry for the confusion but it has worked a few times with this instability as a side effect.
  13. I have this older gaming PC for older games, but I have ran into an issue that just won't let me install any OS most of the time, it would be that I'm just casually installing like windows 7 or another OS and during the installation it like blacks out and shows me the usual boot screen, and the times it has installed an OS this could happen at any time still. The current parts are CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L Ram: 2x2GB corsair DDR2 GPU: XFX 8800 GTX PSU: Corsair CX600M So as you notice it's quite an old build, when I checked the event viewer the times I had an OS it said kernel power, but I tried 2 different PSUs with sufficient wattage so that doesn't seem correct, I also tried a different set of ram sticks and another HDD with no difference, I just need some general idea on what the issue could be and some troubleshooting steps I could take. I do have the availability to attach a video of the times it happened if wanted.

Have you ever had that moment where you ever ha…

I might get use in making a post about my issue on some reddit or even here lol, but it's so specific so it factors a lot. reading everything you said I can totally imagine it was very hard to find a solution on the internet as you also mentioned

Wow, I didn't read more than the OP and the big post with information, but wow this seems to be a dead end issue going on for yeeaaars. I really hope my issue wouldn't be that bad haha, will probably scout through even more of this thread to just see the insanity of it whenever I have time.
  17. Have you ever had that moment where you ever have an issue so specific it becomes so difficult to solve? I know I have one right now, tell me your stories (if you ever solved it that is haha)

I think I'm just gonna stop, I'm confused by your choice of words. I think you're trying to say Network Storage. Even then it's more complicated than that. You're creating a bootleg SAN or Storage Area Network. Which is loosely the same but still different.

Fair my brian is tired/dead so yeah you can.

I'll be fine when I find a solution eventually. But I've had my moments where I was looking to solve either programming or Linux related problems. In the end I'll just make a post in the appropriate subreddit and get a solution.

Short & simplified. Most of it came down to trial & error. Just kept going, tried until one step worked. Moved onto the next hurdle. Kept trying til I passed that one.

The whole project was about a dozen hurdles and took a few months to figure out the basics. Now expanding on it, oh boy. That was additional months.

  18. I went with the 650w seasonic and just got with a R7 7700
  19. I will look into all these options tomorrow, and future GPU upgrade isn’t too much in worry as I either swap PSU then or similar. And I will also take a look at the non X variant, and how it could look doing PBO compared to the X variant, could make it worth if it isn’t much loss. Thank you for the help, should be able to conclude some own research now.
  20. I switched the RAM kit in the previous comment, which yeah RGB is not needed at all. And got this TUF board instead, also got the full black version of the CPU cooler as it was both nicer and like a little cheaper. Ended at 10 190 SEK, which is not bad. I'm not sure if it will pass however, will look into that. If it doesn't any other thing you could recommend change like a possibly cheaper PSU that still does the job?
  21. From what I heard, AMD was supposed to be better at utilizing in this area though? But could have changed? as for the other parts I looked them up and some of them were available, but the motherboard and PSU wasn't, and the SSD 2TB version wasn't available either. but I managed to get my budget down some while still mostly being this config I suggested still.
  22. Budget (including currency): 10 000 SEK Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: It won't be used for much other than server work, virtual machines, some school experimenting and future gaming. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): The parts will be ordered through a business to say and will be used in school, will most likely get to my home whenever my school course is done in the next 2 years about. So I plan to get a PC that is quite powerful for the money. Things such as GPU and peripherals are already covered not in this list. The site used for the part ordering is this site called dustin.se. Which offers English language right by the business button. I have quickly looked at some parts I could see are reasonable, but then I'm not too good on any recent parts, and kinda noticed I fell short on the motherboard possibly. There really isn't any requirements other than that it's 32GB RAM and 500GB SSD, and personal preferences it's that it's AMD and that the case has a mesh front / a front that gives good airflow in some way. Case: Phanteks Eclipce G300A Black. Ram: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB 5600MHz CL36 DDR5. SSD: WD BLACK SN770 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0. PSU: Seasonic FOCUS GX 650W 80+ GOLD. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5GHz Base Clock. CPU cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 34 Esports Duo White. Mobo: ASUS PRIME B650M-A WIFI Micro ATX. Help appreciated
  23. "Yo check out my PC" literally 2000s
  24. I got my hands on this older GPU, which didn't output HDMI when put into a computer, fans only spun up, I couldn't test another output like DP or DVI due to not having access to those. I tried opening it by just removing all screws, but I'm not a pro so just removing them nothing budged. So I'm out here if maybe someone has some troubleshooting trips I can do that I haven't tried because I'm very new to actually diagnosing GPUs. This is mostly a fun thing to do, if it's something expensive that broke I wouldn't try to fix it, but I wouldn't know what's broken without tips that might help.
