Linux Mint Drive Issue

*sigh* And that was like 25% of the reason I got this case. -
Linux Mint Drive Issue

I figured it out. The sata ports on the external drive bays on my case don't actually connect to the drive. -

I am going to try a third sata port, and swap out the sata power cable. It would be super dumb if that cable stopped working between me moving it from one case to this one. -
Linux Mint Drive Issue

Sata HDD. It works fine on my Windows PC with no issues. No matter what sata port I plug it into on my MB on the linux machine, it's not showing up. I have the same issue with my laptop that I installed Mint onto. The 1Tb SSD in that doesn't show up either in linux, but works fine on windows. -
Linux Mint Drive Issue

I just checked, and I don't see it in the BIOs. I see my M.2 boot drive, but the 2 TB drive is not showing. Just checked, and I only see my boot drive's partitions. I am going to plug it back into my windows and try formatting it in ext4 to see if that works. -
Okay, so I just installed Linux Mint on a new computer I just built, and I took a drive out of my Windows PC after removing all formatting, and for whatever reason, it is not showing up in the Mint Disks utility. I am completely new to Linux, so I have no idea where to start, and everything I can find online seems to be for people taking HDDs formatted in Linux over to Windows, not the other way around. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to try and get this drive to work?

I am personally not a fan of MSI GPUs. The last two I had the thermal paste was not applied correctly, causing me to have to re-apply it on both cards, one of which was a 1660 Ti Ventus XS OC. Once the thermal paste was correctly applied, I had no issues, but I shouldn't have had to do that in the first place. Both myself and my coworkers have had great experiences with Gigabyte cards, my 2060S actually runs much cooler than I expected.

Glad to hear you are okay, and that you still plan to work on this monstrosity! The Gods would not be please if you abandoned their offering!

The rout of the air would be pretty bad in that configuration, as air would just go in the back and immediately out the top without cooling much. Are you able to move the top fan more towards the front of the case, but keep it on top? I would do that, and change it to an intake, and change the rear fan to an exhaust. That should help with a little better airflow.

I saw that video, and I would like something a little less janky, and more straight-forward, at least setup/install wise. I wish Synology was available for download.
-
Haha! From what I have been able to find, it looks like the Synology software is free with synology drive systems, but you can't get it separately.
-
Does Synology work with a custom built NAS, or only with their builds?
-
I am also aware about UNRAID, but I don't really know the benefits between those two, or if there is one that is better for my use.

I am wondering what good NAS software is out there? I know about FreeNAS, but that is about it. Are there any suggestions for the best software to use for a personal use NAS for 1-2 computers?
