I would love an SSD for my Laptop, it has a slow HDD, and SSD are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay expensive in Mexico. So I would definetly give it a ver good home, love and care.

I'm liking the Autore keyboard, it looks so slick... Though the mousepad is cool too! Good luck everyone!

First PC Build, Hackintosh (Need Help)
Beanovsky Durst replied to zachrwolfe's topic in New Builds and Planning
I think this is a nice config, but just a heads up, to get the GTX980 fully working you will need to install OSX Yosemite and the alternate Nvidia drivers... More info here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/149031-nvidia-releases-alternate-graphics-drivers-10-10-1-343-01-02-a.html -
First PC Build, Hackintosh (Need Help)
Beanovsky Durst replied to zachrwolfe's topic in New Builds and Planning
A few suggestions from a fellow Hackintosh user... - Go for a Gigabyte motherboard, they are very Hackintosh friendly without too much hassle to get them running. This comes from experience as I was able to get my old G41-Combo mobo to run up to Mavericks without having a lot of issues. - If you plan to use DAWs with high quality sample rates, then an audio interface is a must. Most high end ones will use Firewire and you will need an expansion card with a Texas Instruments chip to ensure maximum compatibility. - While I'm no video expert, I know from experience that nVidia cards have some sort of native capability to fully run on OSX. I was able to play a few games with my old GT240 on Steam LOL. You'll need to do some tweaks here and there though, to get all display outputs working, etc. Best way is making a DSDT for your system, but you could also try to inject the cards info into your bootloader... I used the later and I had no issues, while it's not a "clean" solution, is relatively easy to do and it works. Here are some suggested builds and parts from Tonymacx86 that might suit your needs: http://www.tonymacx86.com/building-customac-buyers-guide-january-2015.html And here's the info for the Firewire card: http://www.tonymacx86.com/buying-advice/59767-firewire-800-400-card-own-100-compatibility.html Good luck with your build! -
Thanks for your replies! I was thinking of getting a GTX970 to pair it up later on the road, a shame that with the dollar to peso rate the cards are waaaaay too pricey to afford right now (cheapest 970 goes for $400USD aprox.), so I'm focusing right now on getting the system running again. I got an old GT240 (I know, I know ) that will be replaced when I got the chance of getting a proper video card.

Hi everyone! I came here because I have a lot of doubts and I wanted some opinions on my next build... So a bit of backstory, my old PC was my first build and while it served me good, in the last month it started to give me trouble and eventually the MOBO just died on me... It's an old socket 775 Gigabyte G41 Combo so fixing or getting another one is pointless as it is too old now. Fortunately, most of the hardware is ok and can be reused. I'm on a tight budget here but I want to get something that lasts me a little bit more, so I'm searching for a processor/mobo combination that serves me well. Principal use of the PC is for gaming and audio production, with some light video editing here and there. I was thinking to go again with a Gigabyte board as it is easy to use for a Hackintosh system too (I have a separate drive for it, and I like using some audio software like Logic). So I need to go with an Intel based system for that purpose. Next thing is that I've already got a Cooler Master V6GT air cooler, which is beefy enough to handle some overclocking, so I'm divided into getting an unlocked processor to get some extra juice, but the price here is a bit higher for unlocked processors (I live in Mexico btw). I was thinking of getting a Z97 board, either a GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK or a GA-Z97X-UD3H and pair with an i5-4690k to make use of the cooler I already have... But is the extra cash for the unlocked processor worth it? Should I get a locked one and save some money for other upgrades (like a newer GPU that costs an arm and a leg here LOL). Thanks in advance for your time and replies!

Well winning this would be perfect to start up my Streaming and Review YT channel, I'm stuck with a Pentium E5400 (Socket 775! YUP THAT OLD) and I can't do much with it... This would be an amazing xmas present...

The pricepoint and the performance you get. Zotac offerings look quite nice! I would give it a good home,
