  1. We use a FreeNAS server for video editing at my company. As projects are completed they are moved to an unraid vault and deleted off the NAS. This requires the project to also be deleted from the NAS recycling. A few people have made the mistake of trying to delete their entire .recycle root folder which starts a feedback loop of piling up .recycle folders within each other and taking up large amounts of storage on the server. I'm curious if there is an effective way to permanently delete these copied recycle bins. Would it just be to delete each individual folder within them?
  2. I've posted here before about applications that assist in video production and I'm at it again. One of the applications we use at my office to safely erase our RED Mini-Mags is a MacOS app called Parashoot. Parashoot will check a designated destination folder to make sure that everything from the memory card was transferred or backed-up. Once it has determined there is a back up for all media it will put a soft format on the card making it ready for use. Now, sadly this app is only available on Mac, and I am a Windows user. When in the office I can easily use a mac, but on the road I only have a Windows laptop. Does anyone know of a similar software for Windows? I've tried googling it but Parashoot is the worst keyword ever.
  3. Things can still light up and not be working properly. You're only hope is to start troubleshooting. Try one RAM stick at a time. Check for post codes on your mobo.
  4. I would go through your motherboard manual and make sure everything is plugged in correctly. As of right now I'm still leaning to either a bad motherboard or power supply.
  5. Check your motherboard manual for the location of your post code leds. These should tell you if your cpu, RAM, etc are failing to post. If those are not working it is likely either a dead motherboard or a bad power supply. Are your case and cpu fans spinning? Or just RGB lights coming on?
  6. There should be cables running from the top front of your case or wherever your front panel I/O is. This has power for your start, restart, leds, and front panel USBs that all need plugged in. Your motherboard should have leds as well that will tell you if a piece of hardware is failing to post.
  7. Have you tried using the onboard graphics instead of your GPU to rule out a faulty card?
  8. I've considered the GPU to be part of the problem, but its usage is also minimal. Unfortunately due to the GPU shortage my machine has a temporary RX 580 (I know) in it. However I am going to loot our 3D animators computer for one of its 2080 Supers to see if that helps.
  9. 99% of our transcodes are from either .braw or .r3d into prores 422 proxy. Task manager typically shows less than 20% usage during this process.
  10. At my company we use Kyno to navigate, manage, and transcode our media. In order to expedite the transcoding process in particular I replaced my 9900K based machine with a 3950X machine. However I have not noticed a significant increase in performance. I haven't been able to find much information about how Kyno utilizes hardware, even their forums weren't helpful. Is anyone here familiar with it?
  11. Ya a lot of what I have found has been custom furniture, often wood.
  12. We have both a NAS and a Vault. These external drives act as a physical backup for what is on our server. They aren't often needed but it does happen.
  13. I manage the footage for a corporate video company and I am trying to create a better system for storing and cataloguing our external drives that act as backups for our footage. So far I can't find any furniture designed to hold a large amount of hard drives. While I could just use a filing cabinet or something I would like to use something where the labels on the drives are clearly visible making it easy for someone to find what they are looking for. Any suggestions?
  14. How much of a Sim is it? I like a bit of realism but I'm also kind of stupid.
  15. I entirely forgot that I own Phasmaphobia. Is Box VR a boxing game? I'm assuming it is.
  16. I just received my Valve Index yesterday and I'm looking for some recommendations to pickup. For now I'm avoiding anything that uses Revive, regardless I don't really want to give FB any money anyway. Here's a list of what I already have. HL: Alyx Pavlov VR Walking Dead: S&S Boneworks Swords of Gargantua I Expect You To Die Raw Data SW: Squadrons No Man's Sky Elite Dangerous Zero Caliber A-Tech Cybernetic VR Archangel: Hellfire Creed
  17. That is really weird. Maybe try and DDU the drivers and get a fresh install? I've never seen that before. Also update windows if you can.
  18. Go into your BIOS and see if it lets you adjust the CPU multiplier and core voltage.
  19. I guess I was also assuming high/ultra presets are used. So with tweaking I'm sure you can get the results you want. I just assume everyone is like me and refuses anything less than high lol. For reference, I have a 2070 super and 8700K and the only games of recent note I don't get more than or at least an average 60 fps at 1440p on are Control with everything including RTX on (even with DLSS 2.0) and RDR2. Haven't played Horizon yet because I'm waiting for fixes.
  20. It is doable, but not consistently. If you have RTX on you likely won't achieve 60 fps at 1440 in most titles. As far as Horizon, right now that game is poorly optimized so it varies system to system. Maybe you'll get 60, maybe not. I would say 2060 super is right on the cusp of what you want to achieve at that resolution. It will work for a lot of games, just not for all. Hope that helps.
  21. How many fans do you have in the front? I can only see one from that picture and it looks like that case supports 3 120mm in the front. This would assist both in cooling the GPU down as well as your CPU by lowering the internal temp of the case, especially with the case closed. As for plugging them in just get a fan hub or a few y splitters. Noctua actually sells their own.
  22. It really sounds like you just need better airflow. I also have a 2070S and it was running quite hot at full loads. I added an additional 120mm fan underneath my 240mm radiator and got an almost 20C improvement in GPU temps. Since I used an AIO it didn't really affect my CPU temps much. I would absolutely add more fans.
  23. Again, your motherboard should also have chassis fan connectors. Are those all in use? If not you should plug it in there.
  24. What was the experience building in the H1? I was just looking at it to build something similar for a living room/entertainment/VR PC. Mine would be slightly lower spec. Won't be building it until early next year though so likely whatever the Ampere equivalent of a 2060 is and 4000 series Ryzen 5.
