I currently have a corsair TX750M which is overkill for my ryzen 5 1600x and 1060 6gb however I'm planning on upgrading to ryzen 7 5800x and RX 6800XT and I can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether I should go 850 or 1000W or the 750 will be more than fine or it really is pushing the limit.

that one is absolutely terrible yeah. used it on my 1600x and it was loud and didn't cool that well. Arctic liquid freezer 280 would be my go to

5700 is not more performance than a 1080 ti. not even close. and this was 2 for about half the price of a new one.

Well if you're buying on ebay you are going to get shitty deals. you can get some really solid deals. saw a guy the other day selling 2x1080ti for 520$ on facebook marketplace.

Exactly this. Maybe look into getting more airflow over the gpu with your case fans if possible. Once the GPU throttles you will get big drops in frames. some years back I had a 7870 from Radeon that would always get to around 100 degrees in some games which usually resulted in my entire computer just shutting off. I got it a bit cooler and it went to massive fps drops instead, ended up having to just replace it. but ever since I got a case with proper cooling I haven't had any of those issues.

yeah I haven't really bothered with my RAM since it's just a 1st gen Ryzen. 2666 should be just fine.

Tried tweaking a bit and got to 2844 @ 3.9Ghz 1.375V. did r15 and got 1296 I think. Tried bumping it to 4.0Ghz @1.385V but was crashing and decided I was happy with 3.9. I could probably get it stable at 1.4V but I don't really want to go there. Highest temps under load were 69 and sitting at around 30 idle rn and that's pretty much where I like to be.

I want to push it a bit more but I'd rather it be stable and quiet than push for 1 more fps so I doubt I'll go over 4.0

tried just putting in a 3.9Ghz at 1.375 V and seems to be stable. highest temps saw in HWmonitor was 65 degrees. People always say the 1600x shows 20 degrees more than it is but I feel like that must have been fixed because otherwise I'd be idling at 10 degrees which makes 0 sense. went from 2677 in cinebench r20 to 2796 so pretty decent. if everything seems good with gaming etc I might go for 4.0 see if it's still stable.

Yeah mine is an aio as well and it is super noisy despite everything I've found online says it's supposed to be super quiet. for me it just really isn't at all. Might be the place it's mounted in my case that isn't optimal but it's just a lot of noise all the time.

Yeah that's what I was looking for but as I said according to the fan curve it wasn't supposed to be doing what I heard. It was all really weird.

I tried looking at fan control but it made no sense. it didn't match what I was hearing at all. when playing games my fans would spin up from 1100 rpm to 1300 once I got over 55 degrees C on my cpu but in the bios the numbers didn't match that at all so I just set them to pwm and it seemed to fix it somewhat. but I still don't have the gameboost on.

if I press the game boost button my fans spin up to 2000 rpm and I feel like I'm in a aircraft hangar even in the bios. I was afraid my computer would fly off if I left it on.

Hey so I just got the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and I'm running a R5 1600x Standard that's 3.6 Ghz and with my old motherboard a B450 Asus rog strix-F I just had a boost button and it went to 3.8 I think. I can't seem to find anything similar in the bios and I'm not super familiar with messing around in manual overclocks so I was hoping someone here could guide me a bit as to where I can safely go. The cpu is cooled by a coolermaster mastercool 240 AIO so temps shouldn't really be the biggest issue. I'm not looking for max overclocking just want to at least reach the standard boost clock of 3.8 or maybe 4.0 if it's stable without messing with too much.
