  1. There are near zero reviews on any FlexATX PSUs so far so they aren't really in the scope of this tier list (yet). Speaking of that thing, looks modern enough, LLC resonant primary, DC-DC secondary, cheap ChengX main cap of questionable quality but it's secondary that matters and i can't make out anything from there. In any case, we need proper reviews to put it higher than tier C anyway, even if we'll start adding FlexATX.
  2. I think i've already answered you on Reddit or THW. This PSU is essentially the same thing as Chieftec Polaris, made by Sirfa / High Power, a decent budget PSU. There are no reviews tho and i don't recall where i got that info from, maybe someone disassembled the thing. But for 40 CAD it worth it as long as you only need a budget PSU.
  3. So you're essentially asking whether 1200W is more than 850W or what ? Yes it is.
  4. No, it's definitely a drummer living in your PSU.
  5. As long as it still spins, and such still provides at least some cooling, it should be fine for the time being.
  6. First of all, if you decide to fix it, be aware that it's very dangerous to work on an electrical equipment like that if you don't know what are you doing. There's a big high voltage capacitor inside with potentially lethal amount of energy stored in it. You should wait at least a couple of days after it was plugged in the mains the last time before opening it to allow the energy to dissipate. This looks like a CWT design, so chances are (since it failed after only 5 years) it uses a Yate Loon rifle bearing fan (CWT tends to use in budget offerings) which aren't all that good. You can try to replace the fan but it's a tricky ordeal, it would be easier to just lube it. It would then last maybe another year or two and then you'll need to do this again tho. If you decide to replace the whole PSU, keep in mind that there are zero reviews on any Green PSU so we don't know what fans they use and whether they wouldn't fail in any of their high-end models in the next 5 years either. Although GP-A-UK Plus looks better on paper than both GP-A-GED and GP-A-ESD and Green Globe Fan FDB bearing fan in the photos, which is good, if that's what they use, so i vote for that.
  7. Ah, nevermind, you got 12V on yellow. If you're measuring this on SATA power cable, red is supposed to be 5V indeed, if it's somehow 3.3V there - that's your problem. Have you got that PSU new ? Are you sure you're using the right cables ?
  8. What's the connector you're measuring it on ? Yellow, on both SATA and Molex is supposed to be 12V, if they're somehow swapped around your PC would've been dead already. So i'm not sure what and where are you measuring there even. Take a photo of it maybe.
  9. That's like, completely wrong. What voltages do you get doing the measurements with the same DMM on the first PC's PSU ?
  10. Well, bqt SP9 is the best of the three, but it's 230V only and is rather lowend otherwise too. Can't raise the budget a little bit ? Where are you buying from / country ?
  11. First one, it's not even a question. What's the rest of the build ?
  12. Are you sure the coil whine comes from the PSU ? Because if not, this PSU doesn't really need a replacement.
  13. Corsair RM/RM-x (no significant difference aside for the lack of in-cable caps on RM which is actually a good thing) or EVGA G6. Or Thermaltake GF1 if 15CAD difference is a big deal for you. There's also Antec HCG Gold for the same price, Seasonic Focus GX based, but eh, i'd rather take GF1 instead.
  14. What the safety code for residential wiring in US has to do with consumer PSUs exactly ?
  15. Pretty much, in US at least. With EVGA G6 being close second (worth it to go for RM-x even if it's more expensive if you need 1kW tho, unless you're size constrained). Correct. By reading and analyzing proper, professional reviews.
  16. All relevant reviews are linked in the spreadsheet : - EVGA GA https://wolflsi.pixnet.net/blog/post/69260200 - Antec Neo Eco GM https://www.gdm.or.jp/review/2021/0915/408260 They're pretty much on par with each other in a sense that there are near zero reviews on them. So it's not a good idea to put them into anything but a budget rig. And if you want some other recommendations i gotta agree with Jon here, make a new thread.
  17. Regardless of how good it was at the time (and it was), it's at this point just ancient. Not worth the risk to use in a modern build. As a backup ? Sure. Or just strip the casing, dust it and place it in an acrylic box with it powered and the PS-ON pin jumped so it shines it's RGB as a relic of the past.
  18. Literally impossible, it's made by Seasonic ! /s
  19. He wouldn't tell you that Corsair RM is better here to not sound like he's shilling Corsair, because he works there and RM was IIRC, his project. 12V load regulation isn't really bad on XPG Core Reactor and static load regulation doesn't really matter all that much to start with (not when it's 1.5% vs 0.5%). Transient response matters more, and it's pretty much on par with everything in this price range there. Overall, Corsair RM is still somewhat better, it's quieter at least, has a semi-passive mode, so it worth paying a bit more. But they're both good.
