    I have a gtx 765m which struggles to keep 60 FPS even at 900p on the lowest settings.

    As said earlier, I would expect that at 1080p,your CPU would be bottlenecking your GPU.

    I don't think that in AAA titles you could max the settings and still get 144 FPS with 970 SLI. You would have to turn down AA or other graphics settings to get a constant 144 FPS.
