No,  that's not how it works,  if you remove the battery the mobo doesn't just revert to an older BIOS,  all it does is go back to default settings,  in which case it should still work and boot up into BIOS at least. 
 
I'm not sure how to get it working tho - if it works - have you tried all possible RAM / slot configurations? 
 

Honestly I don't get why people are attacking the OP... 
 
I didn't wear my nerdiness on my sleeve when I met my wife. Why would I? For a large subset of the female population, that ain't sexy. 
 
And that doesn't mean they're bad people or something.

Thanks so much for joining. My vision is a community based on positive member interaction and helping each other. I believe that if we all work together toward this goal, we will have success in the long run.
We don't have official forum rules or anything like that yet, but as long as everyone is respectful of each other, and patient with the growing pains that we are going to experience (vBulletin 5 is VERY beta right now) we can make this into an AWESOME community forum.
