  1. I was finally able to install Ubuntu 24.04 Beta in VMware Workstation Pro 17.5.1. I had to turn off "accelerate 3d graphics" The installation process took over 30 minutes. Once I completed the installation, Ubuntu 24.04 was very slow. I had set the same settings at my Ubuntu 22.04 and 23.10 virtual machines. These two VMs work fast and without any main issues. The issue might be two folder. First, VMware might need an update to manage Ubuntu 24.04. Secondly, there might be improvements in the final 24.04 ISO is released later on this week. I will post an update once I have tested the final release version.
  2. Right now, I prefer not to upgrade my GPU. My dual monitors are about 10 years old and I am looking for a good monitor upgrade.
  3. Do you think that a newer 24" monitor upgrade is recommended?! My current dual monitors are dell p2311h which are quite old.
  4. Have anyone within the forum tried a Samsung 32" 1080p monitor?! I have a 10th gen I5 and nvidia gtx 1650 super. I wish to upgrade from a 24" monitor. I only expect that my graphics card can handle 1080p gaming.
  5. I have an HP Gaming desktop with intel i5-10400 with Nvidia GTX 1650 and 12 GB RAM @ 2666 Mhz (1 x4 GB and 1 x8 GB). I have a 32 GB (2 x 16) Vengeance RAM 3200 Mhz which only runs at 2166 Mhz on the HP motherboard. (There is no XMP profile in the bios). I run GTA 5, Tomb Raider series as well as VMware Workstation Pro for virtual machines. I think that the bottle neck will be the graphics card. I do not want to buy another graphics card. Would more RAM at a lower clock speed or less RAM at a higher clock speed be better?!
  6. I have dual 22" monitors at 1080p at 60 hertz. I have vsync off. Do you suggest putting vsync on?! At this time, I do not wish to upgrade and prefer to fine tune my system.
  7. I have an Intel i5-10400 and Nividia GTX 1650 super. I have 32 GB RAM running at 2133 mhz. (My HP motherboard does not support XMP profile). The GPU runs high at 80-95% on most of my games and CPU runs at 5-10% usage. Does anyone know how I can make more use of the CPU. I am running games, such as the Tomb Raider series, GTA 5, Jedi Fallen Order.
  8. Ok. I will need to find out how to do the PCIe passthrough on the VMware.
  9. I am using the VMware Appliance for Folding@Home on VMware Workstation Pro 17 on an Intel i5-10400 with 12 GB RAM and Nvidia GTX 1650 super. Does anyone know how to setup vGPU via NVIDIA GRID?! I wish to use my GPU in Virtual Machines within VMware.
  10. I have an Intel i5-10400 with Nvidia GTX 1650 super, 32 GB RAM @ 2133 mhz, 256 GB nvme SSD and 1 TB nvme SSD. When I use GTA V, there is a significant lag in loading missions even when I change the settings to medium. I found that turning off IPv6 helps a bit. I load into story mode and then the online game for fast load times. However, there is an endless thinking when entering missions. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve speed?! I have the 12 GB RAM which came with the prebuild which runs at 2666 Mhz which I can reinstall if need be. My motherboard does not support XMP Profile.
  11. Folding @ home does seems to work well in VMware Virtual Machines in WVMare workstation Pro 17. I tested Folding @ Home within a Windows 10, Windows 11 and Ubuntu virtual machines. I dedicated 16 GB RAM with 4 GB GPU passthrough. (It is possible to do up to 8 GB GPU passthrough. However, I only have a GTX 1650 super with 4 GB RAM). It is rather slow on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+.
  12. Ubuntu has a desktop version for Raspberry Pi 4. Does anyone here have used a ubuntu version for Raspberry Pi 3 B+
  13. Is turning off TCP/IPv6 in Windows 10/11 make any Internet improvements!? In Windows 10/11, in the Network and Internet, is it worthwhile to turn off TCP/IPv6?! I have 59 Mbps download and 28.4 Mbps upload. At times, the connection to games online is laggy. (I have an Intel i5-10400, with 12 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1650 super, 1 TB WD HD, 1 TB WD m2. ssd and 1 250 GB m.2 ssd (as boot drive).
  14. I am still researching how to do it via VMware. I hope to set it up within the next few days. I will post my results
  15. My main desktop computer has an Intel i5-1400 with 32 GB RAM, GTX 1650 super, 1 TB m.2 ssd and 1 TB WD HD. I am just looking for options for building an ultra budget PC for fun. I wish to make use of my Kingston ssds and a Nvidia GT 1030. I might be better off to purchase a refurbished Dell Optiplex with a 3rd or 4th gen processor in order to keep the budget under $400 CDN. The ASROCK mini might be an option if it has a good AMD cpu with integrated graphics.
