  1. I just tried getting a 20% refund on my 970 that I purchased late November through Newegg. I honestly didn't want to do this at first, because it isn't Neweggs fault, and their customer service has always been fantastic in my experience. But like wbrian200 said, it's more about the principle, and I do hope that they will be getting some sort of monetary compensation from Nvidia for this. I didn't end up getting it, the rep said her supervisor told her she couldn't offer a 20% refund to me at this time. I'm guessing it's because I purchased it over 4 months ago, or it was because when I got it it was already on a nice little discount. I did get a 10% store credit, though, which is $35.50. I honestly went in thinking I'd get nothing because I purchased it so long ago and it was already on a discount, and was fine with that. Was surprised when I did get the 10%.
  2. Maybe if I did the RMA directly through Cooler Master, if that's even possible, they may offer to refund the shipping costs. I'm in Canada and I bought from Newegg, and as far as I know they don't refund shipping charges
  3. Well I didn't realize I had to pay shipping for a product that was broken when I got it, that's kinda bs. The shipping cost will probably be about the same I paid for it, so I may as well just use it and see if it works, and if it doesn't I'll just buy a different cooler and throw this away. Incredibly fast responses again, thanks guys.
  4. I just received my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo today and I opened it up to inspect it. There are 2 bent fins but I figure that isn't really a problem and I can bend them back, but then I noticed a very large scratch on the bottom where it makes contact with the Thermal Paste/CPU. It's pretty nasty Should I RMA this or is it fine?
  5. After reading this I did some googling and found that MSI is apparently good about updating their older boards bios (Though I would have to assume that every company does this) so it likely wouldn't be an issue, but I'd rather not take the risk of getting one that was stuck somewhere in the back of the warehouse for a long time and is running an older bios lol. I am, however, continuing my search and so far I've found z97 combos that are around the same price that I think I'm going to go with. They're entry-level motherboards, but I really wouldn't use any of the bells and whistles of a high-end motherboard anyways. Thanks for the responses, though, everyone. I dunno if I can, but I'm going to attempt to mark more than 1 post in here as an answer.
  6. Well that's a little disappointing. Oh well, thanks for the super fast response, and I'm so glad I came here before buying it lol. That would have been disastrous. Edit: Thankfully the z97 version of this Motherboard also has a combo deal, and with the unlocked version of the same CPU, just a bit more expensive.
  7. I feel like this is a stupid question, as I can't seem to find any answer for this (Or anyone asking this question, for that matter). I'm going to be buying this Motherboard/CPU combo, but, most Z87 boards aren't compatible with Haswell Refresh CPUs without a bios update. Unfortunately this one is no different. I don't have a CPU laying around that would be compatible with this Motherboard (The one I'm currently using is a i7 920), so my question is: Will I be able to put the Haswell Refresh CPU in, turn on my PC and have enough functionality to update my bios?
  8. The screeeeeeeen! Finally. And that skin is pretty damn sweet.
