  1. Can you get to the BIOS before it shuts off?
  2. This sounds like you're plugging and unplugging it while the PC is on. Don't do that ?
  3. Apparently you can flash the rx 5700 with the bios for the rx 5700 xt and get almost the same performance which would definitely be the best deal. Maybe look into that.
  4. Getting a bunch of different BSODs can mean bad memory. Try swapping the RAM out if you have extra sticks. If not I'd run memtest to see if I get any errors.
  5. The 5700 xt is a beast for the price and some aftermarket cards with better cooling than the reference design are the same price as the reference cards.
  6. The RX 5700 XT is a great deal and handles 1440p very well. I have one and I use it with a 1080p display but I also use it with an Oculus Rift S that has a 1440p 80hz display and I haven't had any performance issues with it.
  7. Just built my first PC a couple weeks ago and bought a reference rx 5700 xt instead of waiting for aftermarket cards and boy does that card get toasty (usually sits at 105C when playing something in VR).
  8. SSDs already consume less power than HDDs and are much faster. For the platters to spin fast enough to come close to the same performance the platters would either break or the drive would consume so much power that it just wouldn't make any sense to use it.
  9. Yeah that's fine. I'm just curious, why did you get a cheap aftermarket cooler? I've found that the included stock cooler is more than sufficient.
  10. I ended up buying it a couple nights ago. I have liked it but the thing I am a bit disappointed with is the FOV. On paper it has a considerably larger FOV than the PSVR but when using it it doesn't feel like it because your eyes are further from the lenses. It wasn't really the upgrade I was expecting but it's still super fun to use.
  11. It should work fine but be ready for your laptop to feel way more sluggish when you use it.
  12. Thanks for the info! The 80Hz display of the S vs the 90Hz display of the original was also another reason I was hesitant to purchase it. Also, since it has a single LCD display instead of OLED displays like the original has I've heard that black colors look a bit grey when in dark areas in game because of the backlight. I guess everything has its pros and cons. I'll probably end up getting it because the area I have to play in doesn't have good areas to place the sensors so internal tracking is a plus. I have the PSVR now and it's a blast to play but it's definitely not great compared to other headsets (low resolution, low FOV, not amazing tracking, etc.)
  13. I recently built my first PC and am looking to buy a VR headset (on a related note, let me know if you're interested in buying a PSVR headset). I know that all of the tracking for the Rift S is done internally and I've heard some reports that it's not always great. Does anyone here have any experience with it or have a recommendation for a different headset?
  14. This is what I would check first. My cousin had a PC with a 1070 and complained about really low fps in Siege. I checked and he was using his CPU's onboard graphics.
  15. Wow, I hadn't seen this comment but I was coming back to this thread to let you know the same exact thing. Ran memtest on both sticks of RAM and one was bad (it actually had so many errors that the test had to stop before completing). I've been using just the one stick while I wait for a replacement and I haven't had any more blue screens. Were both of your sticks of RAM that were bad the same model?
