  1. Why would AMD release two new architectures on on the same process within the same year? Do you know how that sounds, secondly why would they put HBM2 on it if it wasn't meant to be a high end card? Come on man stop reaching. You don't use new bleeding edge technology that is very expensive to produce and low in yields on a low or mid range card. That's just poor business. AMD already stated that they don't want to be the value option then all of a sudden they abandon high end? That's not in line with their strategy.
  2. I chuckled way too hard in my head at that one. Well honestly I can't say I like the icons I think the colors are way too bright but hey that just me.
  3. There are only like 3 of us in this comment thread that see this as a positive. Like you said in a situation that AMD is in you look at it from quarter to quarter and a year is basically overnight in the business world. It's like some of the people here expect AMD to make millions of dollars in profit from one quarter after operating at a major loss.
  4. False, that is a rash generalization. There problem is people are just riding waves rather than coming up with a system that works. The problem mainly stems from firearms not having consistent laws across each state. There should be certain federal requirements like proper background checks/people mental and criminal history should not be able to get them. Gun show firearm purchases should require an already establish firearm history that you can check before giving one. All weapons should have to be registered in each state (some states don't have firearm registration). Little things like that would go a long way, without hindering law-abiding citizens much. And like zMeul said get a heavy trigger on your firearms, keep them in a damn safe, that even in a case of emergency you can get to it quickly enough. Don't keep it loaded but have loaded mags close by..in case of an emergency. I love guns I plan to be an avid collector but I'm not crazy about them. Edit: Also the NRA sees any kind of legislature as a problem, they are a business and they don't want to lose money. Also people don't really think and research themselves they just listen to all the propaganda and misinformation that is spread.
  5. Can't the 8 core bulldozer processors perform 8 integer operations simultaneously?
  6. I'm only talking about the recommended specs. the 280 comes with 3GB and the 780 is the only kepler card besides 4gb 770 that comes with at least 3 gb. On top of that most people don't even have 4gb 770s to begin with.
  7. Or they are recommending at least 3 GB of vram in the recommended specs.
  8. Okay maybe I can explain better when they say two times performance per watt you have to look at their point of reference. Take the R9 Nano for instance the claimed 2x performance per watt than a 290X the TDP of that card is 290 watts I believe. The R9 Nano's TDP is 175 watts if I'm not mistaken. That card is most definitely not twice the performance of the 290x But when you do the math from a similar point of reference you can extrapolate the data. (I cannot provide this to you I'm just trying to explain in layman's terms.) Essentially what they mean is if the cards were both limited to the same tdp 175 watts the R9 Nano would offer about twice the performance. That's the best I can explain it I'm too tired to math right now. EDIT: Nvm I answered your question when you answered it yourself this is why I shouldn't browse forums late at night.
  9. I remember the days when they used to put in those features for fun. Now we pay for cheat codes guys.
  10. Now here is an interesting piece of news... Pepsi is making a smartphone. There isn't much to discuss, but below I left a quote from the article detailing the specs. The phone is rumored to be revealed on October 20th, the phone has what we would come to expect in a smartphone around this price, but a slightly bigger battery than phones in this price range. Also it's good to see that this phone will be running Android 5.1. I wonder if Coca-Cola will be interested in testing the international phone market. 11. Exactly, if as many people took the time to manually OC their graphics cards we wouldn't need GPU Boost. The bit about MFAA I did not know since I don't own a NV graphics cards, my point about apples to apples comparisons still stands. No one would ever take benchmarks like that seriously, unless you aren't using those types of benchmarks to compare graphics cards from AMD & NV.
  12. I agree with you to an extent I have a small sample size (because I'm one person), but I have friends with a 780ti, r9 390, 2 660tis in SLI, a 680 classified, another with a 390, 290s in CF, and none of them overclocked their GPUs. I have more friends with custom PCs, but I don't know if they overclock. Not everyone that spends money on a GPU is a hardware enthusiast they might just be gamers that want to be positive they max out their games and play at 1080p 60fps all the time. Also there reason why they don't use those features like MFAA is because that is comparing Apples to oranges. AMD cards don't even support MFAA, Nvidia cards don't support Mantle etc. Benchmarks have to be in a Apples to Apples comparison otherwise we can't objectively compare the cards. Further more games have to support features like MFAA and not many do just like a lot of games don't support TXAA or AMDs EQAA. Everyone is well aware that Nvidia does not use the same methodology with their technologies that AMD does. I'm not gonna be like "oh black boxed middleware," it's like TressFX vs HairWorks while Hairworks looks better IMO, but TressFX is open source as a programmer it much easier to optimize for code you can actually look at (At least in my experience as a developer).
  13. I was getting to the point where I was just playing games with chrome open and I was getting low memory warnings with 8gb. I upgraded real quick cuz either my game or chrome would force close.
  14. The number of Mhz a gpu OCs with two completely different architectures is largely irrelevant. AMD cards don't OC to crazy numbers but you usually get decent performance out of it at least from what I have noticed from the 7000 series onwards. Maxwell on the other hand gets crazy 300 mhz+ overclocks and some still you have situation where a Maxwell chip with a crazy OC is neck and neck with a GCN chip with what would be considers a modest OC on Maxwell standards. People get too caught up in numbers. It just all depends on how the chip scales with a faster core clock. These have just been my observations since building my first PC.
  15. Yes for the small group of hardware enthusiasts like us we OC our GPUs you'd be surprised how many people don't overclock or give a fuck about overclocking, even when I offered to do it for them.
  16. They were using their Game Ready drivers, and it has already been released for the beta. EDIT: My bad I saw that Prysin relied to you. Ignore this.
  17. First off don't sling insults, I actually work in the IT industry granted not with any intelligence agencies (yet), but you are beyond fucking naive to think there aren't ways to keep track of the data flowing in, or any advanced algorithms that sift through the streams of data for things that are flagged in their system. Given that they can pick and choose images that people send they can clearly search through the data that they store. The NSA has yet to show if any of their programs have stopped a substantial amount of terror attacks against the US. I'll give you a hint the number is "13" since it's inception (most of it is inconclusive at best), they didn't stop the Boston bombing, they didn't stop the 15 "mass shootings" since Obama was in office. Even the FBI came out and said that they couldn't find any evidence pointing towards any substantial terror attacked stopped by these programs, and if they work on leads then why are they storing ALL the information? Why not dump what's not triggering any alerts? First it started with "meta data" and as more and more information came out we all saw how large these programs are and what kind of data they are keeping. They have secret courts that approve this shit behind our backs. Now I fully expect them to monitor data, but there are much betters ways to do it and the public does not need full transparency because then the people they are trying to stop will have all the information. I digress never fucking insult me again especially when I did not insult you. EDIT: To even insinuate my example was the only form of malpractice they would have for this data is completely asinine, then trying to discredit what I was saying because it doesn't apply to me (a single person) is beyond stupid look at the bigger picture. It's foolish to pretend like these programs aren't a slippery slope.
  18. Yet they passed around people's nudes like it was funny internally in the NSA....Okay they don't care about us right? They have access to our information when they please and they can do as the please with zero repercussions that's the problem. It is irrelevant whether they are watching you right now, its a slippery slope. These are the first steps to an Orwellian society. I'm not even a tinfoil hat wearing person but don't be so naive.
  19. The HyperX kits haven't been released yet. I don't know about the Crucial kits though.
  20. Guys the have finalized negotiations, now it has to be voted on by legislators I believe so they haven't won yet.
