  1. nope, the sata cables are the same through and through, no internal differences it's all marketing, and you are right about the cat 5 and 6 http://www.maximumpc.com/is-your-sata-cable-slowing-down-your-data-transfers-max-pc-investigates/
  2. cat5 and 6 are actually different cables connectors, usb 3 is a different cable and connector than usb 2, but is reverse compatible and as of now sata connection is the same across the board like pci-e, although pci-e 4 is supposedly changing things
  3. Every time I have to explain HDD vs SSD to non-techies I take a deep breath and start with "A hard drive is like a stack of CDs ..."
  4. There is no such thing as sata 1,2, or 3 cables, all the changes have been on the controllers and not the cables themselves.
  5. A friend of mine is looking to buy a tablet, his budget is 100 to 300 USD and there is no preference of OS. I already grilled him on what his uses are going to be and he said that he just wants options. I need some options to give him.
  6. I've bought like three LGA775 motherboards for my core 2 duo e8400 because chipsets.
  7. Back when I was in school I installed Halo CE to the school server and put links to the files on all the computers and the reaction from the principal (who is super anti-gun by the way) was priceless when she walked into the computer lab and every computer was being manned by a kid playing halo. I was never caught. Edit: The non-techie part is that they never quite figured out how to uninstall it and I'm pretty sure that it's still lurking on their servers waiting for a fellow techie to discover and relink the files. That will be a glorious day.
  8. I'm really surprised a fire didn't break out and I promptly rewired the whole room.
  9. I once called Microsoft tech support because I couldn't figure out how flip the display on windows.
  10. I was working in a computer lab with about a dozen computers and they were powered from a power strip plugged into a power strip plugged into a power strip.
